I think the intro was such an exposition dump due to the time gap between RE2 (1998) and RE4 (2005), which also brings a difference in console generations, since the PS2 rapidly became more popular than the PS1. It was very likely that many didn't get to play RE2 before RE4. Despite basically going through the same events, the RE4 Remake intro focuses more on Leon's introspection on the events if RE2 and how it affected his life.
@@A.H.goose1 who cares? does he need to have trauma? i don't understand why him having trauma is some necessary addition and an objective improvement over the original
@@MangasColoradas941 Uhm, yes? Adding depth to a character is almost always an objective improvement. For villain characters I could hear your point but for a main protagonist like Leon? Yes definitely it’s objectively better
The “umbrellas” were complete douches in the original literally told Leon in the middle of the woods “ima stay back, parking tickets you know!” Cmon doing Leon dirty leaving him alone
To be fair, some of the latter games undid the whole thing of "Umbrella was done for good" as it kept returning in some way or another, from Neo-Umbrella, to Blue Umbrella, and hell even Tricell was basically Umbrella 2.0
They added it, but not on the intro. When Leon meets Luis later in the story, he talks how Umbrella is basically dead and that Leon didn't need to worry about them. While it's less conclusive than the OG RE4, it goes in line with the final scene with Ada and Wesker, as well as the sequels, which might also be getting a remake. Umbrella didn't really die, it just became something else.
A few months ago I got back into gaming and decided to start playing all the classics I never experienced/never grew up with. I kept on forgetting that this game came out in 2005 cus of how ahead of its time it felt. 100% in my top 3 games oat 🔥🔥🔥
You should play Metal Gear Solid 3 if you're interested in games from that era. A different genre from RE4, but also one of the best games of all time.

I'm shocked they remade this game before Code: Veronica. I mean, shit, I'm shocked they are remaking it at all especially since Code Veronica could seriously use the update and love.
@@talpho3301 There was no need. 2005 Resident Evil in HD looks and plays great. It's the Jurassic Park of videogames.
