I started my pixel usage with a 4a and although I'm probably going to wait for the 7a I think I would stick with pixel on this one. I keep cameras as a high priority on phones as I like taking pictures without having to lug a big one around. The screen I can deal with for the quality of processing and camera I am getting. Great vid by the way👍
When I bought the Pixel 6 the first thing that came to mind was it reminded me of an iPhone but more user friendly. It's truly an outstanding phone and the Android 13 update coming in a few weeks, I think it will be even better, if that's possible.
@@Xevos701 personally, on my pixel 6 the fingerprint reader is indeed finnecky or slow or at least not as it should be. But that's really the only issue I've encountered since I've got it a few months ago. Once you're in, it doesn't disappoint.
Yeah I currently have the 4A 5G And I'm anticipating the 6A I love the bare bones aspect of the pixel and it is not bogged down with a bunch of other shit from Samsung and all those other brands It streamlined much better and the only reason I didn't buy the previous flagship models was because I didn't care for the camera bump on the other pixel devices but since they took the camera bump off there's no reason that I can't get the phone now.
Thanks for the honest comparison video. Congratulations on the wedding!! Had it been a 90Hz display it would ve made the 6A a great deal. Still going with the Pixel for the camera and Processor. A53 is not bad at all. Tough to choose, but 6a it is. Thanks
I think this has convinced me that 6a is the way to go. 1. it's smaller and I have small hands 2. My current phone is 5 years old and nothing is slower than manually typing in a 9-character password and having a 30-second shutter speed so simply having a print reader is a huge upgrade. I think the only thing I'm iffy on is the lack of a headphone jack but there are adapters for that so it isn't a true deal breaker for me
Fingerprint on A53 is faster than the one on the 6a. I doubt this matters to you, since you are coming from a phone without a fingerprint scanner, so it might not be a big deal. FYI the fingerprint scanner on the Pixel 6 series phones (including 6a) is one of the slowest and most unreliable in any phone.
@@Xevos701 You seriously looking at a fingerprint scanner when you choose a device? that shouldn't be one main thing to worry about beside all the other stuff he mentioned. duh
We have to accept that Most of the latest phone had gotten rid of the earphone jack. And I really agree that smaller phone than 6inch screen phone is better in single-handed use since I also type the words single handedly
I was lucky to test both of the phones, while initially I was planning to use Pixel 6A, the smaller size and not very bright screen, swayed me over to Samsung A53. I was biased against Samsung, but after using it for a couple of days, realized that it's a really good phone. The only thing I don't like is Samsung's pre-installed apps, some of which can be disabled or uninstalled easily. So, if you like me undecided between these two phones, see if you can get your hands on both of them!
I got the Pixel, but it's my 2nd Pixel so I already know I really like Pixel UI and features. The 6a looks gorgeous too. Samsung offers the A53 in bright colors outside of the US, it's too bad we only get one choice.
These are my priorities on a phone; 1- Display, as I watch movies in my phone. Dont even use the TV anymore. 2- Battery life - the bigger the better 3- Fast charge 4- Anything else I normally use a case so it doesnt matter how the phone looks like. Therefore, Samsung for me.
I was thinking the same thing originally, but now I'm thinking a 120hz refresh rate will easily drain that battery down quicker than the 6a. The processor is powerful, but its supposedly optimized well. I think I may go with that phone myself. I also love the sound of those speakers! The 53's 120hz is gonna look so good though, so I wont fault you there. I'm upgrading from a iphone 7 plus, so I'm not gonna miss a higher refresh rate though.
I bought A53 before I even considered the Pixel. Because Google phones are pretty much unavailable in my country. But after seeing this video, I'm happy that I got the A53, due to the screen and especially the video performance. Thank you!
From what I can see, the A53 does not have eSIM support whereas the Pixel 6a does. The eSIM on my Pixel 4a has been invaluable. If you travel a lot, this is a must have. This is one key feature that would stop me from choosing the A53.
@@robtyman4281 Possibly. I can only go by my Pixel 4a which has great picture quality, especially the night mode. I'm going to guess that the 6a has had further improvements. I'm looking forward to trying a 6a out soon.
I just purchased a Pixel 6a. After using it for three days, I wish it had a larger battery and a telephoto lens. I'd gladly give up the ultra wide lens for a true telephoto lens. Digital zoom looks terrible on every phone.
Dang, that Pixel 6a video looks great! I've got the 4a 5G and love it. My wife has the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and my Pixel takes way better photos. If shep wanting a good picture of something, she'll always ask me to take the picture with my phone. So far I'm really loving the Pixel a series, so I'm happy to stay with that line.
I'm leaning more towards the 6A. Especially since I currently have a Pixel 4A 5G and anticipating on the pixel watch to pair with the new phone probably going to get for Christmas, but I appreciate your comparison of both phones.
I'm on Samsung A53. As I owned S4, S7, Note 9 previously, I am not going to buy anything else. This time I wanted to try middle range phone then I just researched some reviews. Now I recently bought my new A53 blue. It can't beat my previous note 9 from 2018 but overall I like it. Thanks for your review.
The display was a bit of a bummer but still for overall use of the phone that someone will use for 3-4 years I would definitely recommend the Pixel 6A because of performance and cameras. I use Pixel 6 Pro as my main phone and I don't even notice the fingerprint is slow (I know it's slow but doesn't affect my usage of the phone at all).
@@jprimos232 What features have you got my friend? Coming from the Pixel 3A and the LG G8; I was able to briefly test the A52 and while it was better than what I had in many aspects, I felt that I could wait out for something better. 😇 I hear that the A53 has a much more efficient processor, much the same hardware, but with better optimization on its speakers and cameras. Edit: currently Loving the aspects of my S10 5G! ☺️ I hope your experience with your phone has been positive on the whole my friend! 😇🌎✨
Not until you compared the Video quality, the Pixel 6a has a way smaller sensor than the Samsung A53, no matter how much image processing power you put on the Pixel the smaller compromise everything
@@johnvincentespiritu4768 - Samsung has always had issues with camera software. And when they don't, it's always outpaced by the iPhone and especially the pixel. Hardware can only go so far
If only the pixel 6a came with more storage options or SD card slot I'd buy it. I like to carry a lot of music so need more space. I really like the styling of the pixel better than the A53 and the better cpu. However I purchased the A53 pre release and got it unlocked with free wireless buds. I added an SD card and it's been working great on Visible wireless since April. The 5G is only midland not ultra wide but I believe the pixel 6a is the same. I should also note that so far samsung has provided some kind of software update every month, although not as early in the month as I hear the S series phones receive them. Over all I think both are good. The storage options are very important to me so the Samsung galaxy A53 wins for me.
@@lincas8976 I've been getting the android security updates every month on the a53 usually in the second half of the month. It may mot be as soon as pixel but better than moto and others are doing on mid range phones
Agree, lack of SD slot is very disappointing, though I do understand the pixel line has never had them (doesnt make it right!). Mobile apps are so bloated these days, and every update just makes them bigger.
For me it came to the Samsung having a removable back cover. This makes a huge difference when doing a home repair as the screens are often very fragile and are easily broken when taking it off adding ~£70 to your repair job.
@@ranvedsticon2304 No. The pixel has to have it's screen removed in order to replace the battery or any other component. This is very time consuming as you have to remove and reapply glue while being careful not to touch the digitiser. If you go to a repair shop this is less of an issue because they have better tools but for a phone at this price point that's often too expensive to justify.
6A all the way....with one caveat. You'd be better off buying the standard Pixel 6 instead because you get so much more for just a tiny uptick in price. I love my 6 despite the poor fingerprint sensor and I also love the great support I'm getting both now and in the future that Google is offering that Samsung simply can't, or wont, match. The choice is pretty clear here to me.
@@tevii3514 You do know Samsung can't do any real OS upgrades until Google puts out their latest upgrade...right? They may put out more refinements to their own version of what Google gives them, but they will never be ahead of the originator in the long run. Plus, of course, the Pixel will get said upgrades first, a real perk.
@@dragon2knight The point is, while Google is providing 3 major OS upgrades, Samsung is providing 4 major OS upgrades. So that's regardless of waiting on Google to finish with the new Android version, Samsung phones will just get more major OS upgrades
@@tevii3514 I'm sure Google wont be upended like that for long, expect them to match or beat it, it's been the path they've been on lately. At least both of them are finally supporting us, it took waaaay too long for them to "get it". Apple's always been better than Android here, and I'm happy we can finally not be left completely behind anymore.
Surprised and pleased with my A53. The Samsung environment allows me to have notes, reminders and contacts shared with my Samsung tablet (Galaxy S7+). Also, there is plenty of storage and with 6GB of ram, all my apps and Android 13 work seamlessly. Best combo I've ever had.
@@aninwaloda6759 I didn't review it😉 but if I may give you my opinion: if you don't care about updates, the Pixel 3a is still a fantastic option. Great design, great camera with unlimited free storage in Google Fotos (but in full resolution though), headphone jack, great OLED screen, stereo speakers,.... It may be a little slow now but for everyday and normal use (no fancy games, video editing,...) it should still be absolutely fine.
Both are great values. Such a hard decision! The A53 has the better display, but the Pixel takes more natural photos. I'm personally getting a 6a as a secondary ($300 trade in + $99 Buds for free!).
Both are great, but nothing really beats stock android imo and also the pixel has a faster processor that's from flagships so that's a win for me and also just a better camera when it comes to colors on photos
I'm coming form a Pixel 3 and the 6a has twice the storage which I didn't even use all of in my 3. So I think the camera quality is the sell for me since I don't use the wireless charging, never use the speakers. The real sell for me is the chip in the 6a and how android is customized for the chip. I'm looking at the 6a so far. Thank you and Congratulations!
The most unbiased review I ever watched. Thanks for the video. I am leaning towards galaxy a53 because of the expandable storage and longer OS support 4yrs OS and 5yrs security bigger battery for longevity, and that one UI. But pixel 6a is ok too if you want flagship processor and stock android.
@@diablotech385 I didn't buy the a53 I just said that if I were to buy I would lean towards a53 because of that expandable storage because storage is also a factor for longevity although I have a galaxy a72 which I think is a much better choice than the a53 because it has qualcom instead of exynos at the same time at the same price as when it was release with a53 it has a better offers having a jack, 256gb internal, telephoto with OIS and free jelly case and 25wats charger type c to type c in the box it also has a screen protector so yeah I think samsung goes backward for this choice the only thing they improve is a extra 1 year OS support I don't think exynos in a53 is still better than the qualcom of a72 even tho a53 has 5nm vs 8nm of a72. A72's offer is much better for me telephoto, 256gb internal, jack, Fm raidio, free charger, screen protector and jelly case in the box which all been removed in a53.
Longer os support doesn’t really matter if it can’t last that amount of time due to the poor performance of the exynos chip, as well as the battery on the 6a being better than the a53 because tensor is more power efficient than exynos and the 600 mah is a very minor difference. 128gb storage will be more than enough for users in 2025.
It would seen like there would be more to go with the A 53....BUT the pixel will get 5 years of updates and it's cameras are second to none and it's tactile haptics are very satisfyingly clicky. Agree also that these are very much the iPhones of Android. Just got the 6a delivered on my birthday July 28. This is my 3rd A series phone and all three have been fantastic. This 6a so far is the best.
Still locking my A72 from last year. A great phone for great price but always liked the Google camera magic but still I do take pictures so rarely. The feature I like on A72 is the optical 3x zoom which lacks on the new A53 but still great value and great video
I've had the Pixel 6a for 5 days now and have a few concerns. The phones gets warm very fast and the battery life is not so great. I was at a music festival over the weekend and I was excited to have a new phone since I wouldn't need to charge it. Wrong, I had to charge it up at the various charging stations - glad that was an option because I didn't bring a power bank or charger cable. I do like the size, the camera and the general look and feel of the phone.
I heard it’s the 5G that causes the drain and battery heating. My Samsung S21 FE had the same issues just turn 5G off in settings it makes a huge difference and your phone will at least last 2.5 days.
Thanks for this comparison. As always a great video! I'm still using my 4a and I'm really happy with it. So, if I had to, I'd take the 6a. But I think my old 4a will stay with me till the 7a comes next year. If I'd have a wish for your Pixel Buds Pro video... please make a comparison between all pixels buds. Pro, A and the first generation.
If I were you I would trade in your 4A for the 6A they're giving you a $300 credit for that phone you'll never get that again because I paid 349 for my 48 and it's great train up like that I would and I'm talking about you and on top of that you'll get a free pixel Bud's Ace that's a $100 vathey're dollar value so pretty much you're only paying £40 hard $50 for the pixel 6A plus you get a free headphones you could even sell those headphones you know get some cash in hand or whatever I don't know but I definitely recommend getting that 6A
@@cobaltblue5523 Thanks for your advice! But I think I'll stay with the 4a. Here's why... It's kind of green thinking. My 4a still works fine and the battery lifetime is 89 %. So there's no need for me to trade in. And I've got the Pixel Buds first generation. I love them. The A-Series has no advantage for me. But I'm really interested in the comparison of the Pixel Buds 1st gen, the Pixel Buds A and the Pixel Buds Pro. That's why I asked Mike for this comparison. I think next year the battery of my 4a will go down, so I need to replace it. I don't no if I'll buy the 7a or the 6a. We will see. And I don't know how long my Pixel Buds will work. So the comparison of the three models will be great for my replacement in the future. I'm interested in tech but not to buy all of the stuff immediately.
I've used both and to be honest I prefer the Samsung. The screen is better and there isn't too much of a difference in camera quality. I do prefer the speakers on the pixel. Overall I like the A53 more.
Like the others, I'd pick the Pixel if it was priced right. Unfortunately in Canada, the lowest sale price you'd find on the 6A is about $575- Cdn + taxes, on the other hand you can pickup a Galaxy A53 for cheaper than an A33 now days, like around $345- Cdn, also the 60hz refresh in the pixel is a bummer. So when it comes down to the price, the Galaxy is a winner and that's exactly what I just ordered. Thanks
Owned the Google Pixel 6a smartphone for 1 week now and must say I like it alot. It capable of taking nice pictures and I even took some night time pictures with low light conditions without flash pictures turned out nice.
Pixel 6A has great value and flagship chipset, but what ruins it for me is there's only a 128gb rom option, and there's no 256gb or 512gb option. The A53 is not only cheaper(cheaper in my area by about $80), has 128/256gb options and also memory expansion. A53 wins imo
Don't forget that much more space is taken up in the A53 by Samsung bloatware. So you don't really get 128gb. And altho you have an MD card slot, none of the bloatware can be moved to it, and some third party apps I put on phone and moved to SD card repeatedly returned to the main phone. Samsung has a bloatware issue. This video didn't discuss this issue.
The A53 is a no-brainer if you are picky about displays. I don’t care about displays at all, so I’d take the Pixel for the camera and the CPU. They’re both about equal for long term software support. Samsung has Cotten a lot better at that than they used to be.
Samsung continuing to offer some great phones that don't break the bank. I like the look of the phone as well: the plastic certainly doesn't look cheap and that molded look for the cameras on the back is a nice touch, more effort than you would expect from essentially a "discount phone".
thanks for the video :D I was skeptical on 6a and a53, but for me. Seems like the A53 will be better suited for me in the longer run. I've been using the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge Version 1 since like 2015. if it isnt broke, why upgrade? Well seems like my little guy is on its final leg, the memory chip on it is starting to go, and get constant crashes. A53 seems like it'll be the GTX1660 of phones for me. Great info and examples in the video.
If you want a better camera, better processor, and cleaner OS, then go with Pixel. But if you want a better screen (120hz), bigger screen, and the need for more space (SD Card-Slot), then get the A53.
Ive been thinking about the getting the Pixel, however I live in the Caribbean and a lot of Google's services are under par. Not only that but Samsung has done a great job marketing to non US countries and its super popular here. Still, again, a lot of their features are under par because of the location. Not to mention its a bit of gymnastics to get original google products here, but i would prefer the long term software updates etc on the Pixel as well as the Camera.
I tried both, and the A53 is much better than the Pixel 6a. When you put the two side by side, the display for the A53 blows away the display for the Pixel 6a. The colors are so much more bright and vibrant. Also when it comes to durability, Samsung has always been better than Google
Speaking of speaker testing, I've found lately it's best not to crank them all the way up. I mean sure they go loud but then they sound tinny. I usually do a notch or two below the max and they sound great.
I've been using an iPhone 6s for about 4 years, so I haven't been accustomed to android at all I must say that the 6a is fantastic, and was really easy to figure out and it's a way better experience for me personally
Pixel 6a appeals to my aesthetics; minimalist, functional, elegant. I'll probably be keeping these for a long time unless a similar design comes up in 3 - 4 years
Thanks for the video and congrats, Mike! I like this price range but just can't convince myself to give up wireless charging. If they move wireless charging down to the 'a' series, i'm in!
I personally is a google pixels series fan boy although i never used one yet, but im bored of using the one ui on samsung and planning to buy pixel 6a and thats why I'm here at this video. I personally loved the sentence, " PIXELS ARE IPHONE OF ANDROID PHONES ". I loved it and it is true as the pixel 6a price has gone down than A53. So, i'm planning to buy pixel 6a. I have watched the video to the end and you said comment your thoughts and here are my thoughts. This is the first video of yours im watching and i feel great about the content which made me write this comment. Good worl. Hope you rock in your future work. God bless.
You didn't mention that the A53 has EXPANDABLE STORAGE. For anyone who likes to keep large amounts of photos, or offline audio or video, that expandable memory is amazing and something you hardly ever see anymore in phones (which really annoys me, sometimes it feels like phones get 'better' but also constantly get worse, getting rid of expandable memory, headphone jacks, replaceable batteries, etc.
@@aldwin360 OneUI is great, but the look and feel of the entire system is different. Samsung makes many changes and add their own set of bloatwares in OneUI which you wouldn't find any in Stock Android OS. Pixel devices will also be the first ones to receive the latest Android updates.
After watching I actually think the Pixel phone seems a little better but depends what you are really wanting in a phone I suppose. The Pixel phone just seems more future proof in my opinion.
I'm still using my pixel 3a as well, and im happy with it, the color tone of photos looks similar to pixel 6a, I think u should try the night mode comparison actually, because my friend always shocked when I show the result of nightmode's pixel even they're iPhone user haha. Hope could upgrade to newer pixel this year
Most important feature difference between these two phones are the displays. Let's face it, regardless of what other features you want in a modern phone, you're going to be staring at it at some point. That said, the A53 Super AMOLED in 120 hz is beautiful and responsive. Personally I don't care for tri-tone layout on the back of the Pixel 6a, nor the camera plateau on the back of the Samsung... however for most of us who put our phone in a case, neither of these design choices will be obvious on either phone. If you want the better display, get the A53, but if you need a faster processor no matter what, the Pixel is a bit snappier.
Thank You Mike for the good video. It does call out the strength of each phone. If we treasure the picture quality and CPU performance, choose 6A. Other wise, if we treasure the display, extensible RAM storage and and feature, then choose A53.
I'm looking for a compact phone as I don't like those big bulky screen size phones. Also my priorities are a good multimedia consumption and a good cameras for a trip or any special occasion. And sometimes i edit videos too on my phone. For the compactness, design, performance and cameras I think 6a is killing it and in the segment of good multimedia experience galaxy did a great job. And as both ui are very stable and I personally loved the both so I would say it's a tie in that. So overall as per to my usage and need I think 6a would be a better choice. 👍
I took the Pixel. I cannot deal with (what I consider) bloat & lag and my brothers A53 on Verizon does lag. My only issue with 6a is size. I actually like some heft to my phone lol. A case will fix this. I'm on day 2 of my 6a. 😍
@@dinkin_flicka14 get the 6, 6 pro or 7. If I had to do it again, I'd take the 6 or 6 pro for similar money. 2 weeks after I got the 6a the price dropped hard for the other 2. I really don't like the camera on the 6a. The night mode really struggles and this is the worst fingerprint reader I've ever experienced. The phone is too small for me. Those are deal breakers. I'm upgrading in a yr or so. Also, This is my 3rd pixel and it's the worst battery experience of the trio.
I just purchased the pixel 6a and the first day it fell our of my pocket and the screen broke. It didn't just break it shattered like crystal. The quality of the glass is important.
Thats actually my main problem with samsung, they add really good screens to a super mid processor so the experience in 120hz or 90z is ruined because of the lag of the software and the processor not giving a good performance
If the 6A would have had the same 12MPX on the front camera and at least a 90Hz display and Corning 5 glass. It would basically be the winner. Also at least 3 years OS support (don't know what it offers). That said, the camera did look better for the rear, more natural on the 6A despite the old 12mpx cameras. It's the software that does it. I also like smaller phone. I don't need a tablet in my pocket. It's hard to choose between the two. To be honest though I am not a person that needs 120hz or best cameras or super large storage. I use my phone to text, use Wifi on the crapper or on work break etc and just watch videos and browse web. Very few phone calls and occasional snap of the camera. I barely use it beyond "utility" when it comes to camera, as in I take pictures of important things. Not nature pictures etc. I think both would work fine for me. So it will come down to size, price (Canada) and support.
I have both Phones right now. The A53 has shitty video recording stabilization, but has better low light resolution taking pics in dark areas. The stereo speakers on the A53 sound really good, but the 6a can rival the speakers pretty close. The panel on the A53 is bright and vivid on the AMOLED screen and 120htz refresh rate. The 6a is a really nice size phone. Has nice build quality. Everything Google works superb on it. It also has some features that are exclusive only to Pixel Phones. I don't even notice a difference between the 60htz and 120htz refresh rate lol. I have been testing out the two phones for the last five months and I put my SIM card in the 6a and the A53 is going on ebay.
I'm still rocking the Pixel 1 ! TIME TO UPGRADE: It only holds a 5 hr charge, when not in use. I'm interested in the 6a, but may just wait for the 7 in October. I've waited this long already !! haha
I've had the Pixel 1 (XL) for 4 years now and I ordered the 6a a couple days ago. I recommend you hold onto your 6a for the unlimited photo/video backup Google Photos still offers for that phone (I'm going to) but I'm looking forward to having a capable processor
I'm strictly function over form, so Pixel is always my preference. I've used a 4A for two years and it's a perfect tool for me. Trading it in and getting the 6A for $150 (plus BudsA earplugs) was a deal I could not pass on. The screens come down to a choice of one or two sugars in your coffee. I don't like it so sweet so 60Hz OLED is just fine for anything I want to do. And I suspect, since you didn't mention it, that Google's night sight is far superior to anything Samsung can do. By the way, you should stop the launching speed comparisons. It looks really stupid when they always come down to less than a second. It's not something anyone would even notice in everyday use. Oh, and congratulations on the marriage, hope you work it to good fortune for all. Thanks.
I have a A53. In retrospect I'm much happier with my A53 than I ever would have been with the Pixel 6a. Something I'm pretty sure you forgot to mention was gaming performance. (Which has been the domain of flagship phones for a fair while now.) With more people gaming on their phones or using them to remote game on their console while someone else is using their tv. 60 hz gaming has been the console standard since the Xbox 360, but 60 hz is bad when you're used to something a lot faster. PC gamers have had 120 hz monitors since the days of crts. As far as specifications go, the Pixel is said to be more powerful but is hamstrung by the 60 hz refresh rate. With consoles now offering up to 120 hz with the latest Xbox and Playstation offerings, it seems pointless to offer a phone with only 60 hz. I guess with hdr support it'll look prettier on the Pixel... Or at least it would if the Pixel had 30 bit color to go with the luminosity of hdr... :( Everyone wants something different. Content creators will love the Pixel's ability to edit photos. Gamers want a 30 bit hdr screen with 120 hz refresh rate. People who see their phone as a mini tv will want a 60 hz 30 bit hdr screen with ufs 3.1 to load their Netflix app faster than light. :D Warren Buffet said, "Everyone wants something high quality, fast and cheap."
Expandable memory is big for me, display, also battery, so A53 for me. $279 now, I'll trade in my A32 5g which I like alot. Let us take a moment to mourn the loss of our long beloved friend, the headphone jack. Bring it back I say!
@james y yeah I see what you mean that tensorship and the camera is pretty solid but the battery life when compared to the s22 ultra that I have definitely fall short by about 25 to 30% and I have the pixel 6A too but it's definitely not topping Samsung unless we talk about a53 only
If the Pixel was available in my country, I would go with the Pixel. Tho I would try and get a A73 because of the Snapdragon 778g, I still don't trust the Exnyos 1280 on this A53
I just bought the Pixel 6A and it's amazing everything works great, screen response and fingerprint reader is fast and accurate, updates have now fixed some of the early issues with it. One plus in having a Google phone is you're assured the highest compatibility with Android and receive new Android versions and updates before any other phone.
I've a pixel 6. When I bought it it was the only phone that i could get at the that time. Good camera on my pixel but it gets hot ea time its charged and at 6.4 it's too big for my hand and my pockets. Also my Pixel fingerprint scanner never once has worked. I had to grab an S21 a month later and at 6.1 it fits my hand perfectly AND the camera seems just as good (unless one's gonna get picky). The biggest thing that i miss is the sd slot so im happy to know the a 53 has one. Overall go with Samsung.....too bad it's too large for me.
@Anil Barutcu usually adaptive battery takes 2 weeks to learn the usage and well adapt. I got a pixel 6a today after returning my a53 and its so much smoother tbh
@Anil Barutcu it comes down to personal preference bro. Both have their ups and downs. We can try to keep on comparing every single spec here but at the end of the day both are decent for the price.
@Anil Barutcu I'm using the Pixel 6 i easily get 8 hours screen on time everyday so I know once the pixel 6a learns your patterns it will have great battery life
@Anil Barutcu for some unknown reason people just hate Samsung no matter how well they do, maybe a Korea company vs USA company? Tbh idk but with a better screen, bigger battery, SD card slot, newer gorilla glass (small fact here, GG3 is a 9 yrs old product), but people just pick on it's one weak point - slightly slow cpu, so just one weak point covers up all the other good. I wonder if the two phone switch their brand, people might probably said the pixel is trash
Pixel 6a for great photos, screen and block spam calls. No more bothered by unwanted calls since I have pixel 6a. My nightmares for years from unwanted calls such as Robo, ads ... you name it... are ooover. Just flip the phone over put it on a flat surface and the "Do Not Disturb" on. I could not happier with my pixel 6a. Got $290 for trade in and $99 pixel buds for free. What more can I ask for?
Should've compared with the A52S instead, since it's just an older, cheaper, better version of the A53. I honestly don't think I could get over what the Pixel 6A lacks in that case.
Has anyone besides me seen comments on other sites about signal issues with the Pixels? I have a 3AXL and really like it but at times in our rural area it sure doesn't connect as well as my wife's new A53. The A53 is a fine phone but I'm not sure about trying another Pixel after reading about a continued connection issue. My wife's A53 will show two bars in some areas while the 3AXL will show none, same carrier. In a city, though, the Pixels are fun with the latest from Google.
I think, for the price (100$ less), the Samsung Galaxy A53 is a better deal, it has 120 hertz screen, micro SD, bigger battery and it will have 4 year updates. The only thing superior in the 6A is the processor. The cameras is arguable.
Should've been a73. Just because the a52 was just as good as the a72 doesn't mean it's the better mid range. The a70 series is usually the better choice over the 50 series And no one cares about the phone wobbling on a table, seeing that ppl pick up their phones. Yall try to make it aa issue
They're not the same price point then. Also people absolutely care about wobbly phones. You pick the damn phone up because it's wobbling. I fucking hate wobbly phones

Pixel 👍👍
I started my pixel usage with a 4a and although I'm probably going to wait for the 7a I think I would stick with pixel on this one. I keep cameras as a high priority on phones as I like taking pictures without having to lug a big one around. The screen I can deal with for the quality of processing and camera I am getting. Great vid by the way👍
I buy Samsung when it comes to flagship phones but in this matchup I’d go with the pixel 6a. Performance on the cheaper Samsung phones is not great.
I use to be Team Samsung but on this midrange competition 60hz for Pixel is a no go and A53 is really slow.
No buy for both of them
When I bought the Pixel 6 the first thing that came to mind was it reminded me of an iPhone but more user friendly. It's truly an outstanding phone and the Android 13 update coming in a few weeks, I think it will be even better, if that's possible.
Encountered any bugs ?
@@Xevos701 personally, on my pixel 6 the fingerprint reader is indeed finnecky or slow or at least not as it should be. But that's really the only issue I've encountered since I've got it a few months ago. Once you're in, it doesn't disappoint.
How is your battery life?
Yeah I currently have the 4A 5G And I'm anticipating the 6A I love the bare bones aspect of the pixel and it is not bogged down with a bunch of other shit from Samsung and all those other brands It streamlined much better and the only reason I didn't buy the previous flagship models was because I didn't care for the camera bump on the other pixel devices but since they took the camera bump off there's no reason that I can't get the phone now.
I phones are more user friendly than pixels
Thanks for the honest comparison video. Congratulations on the wedding!!
Had it been a 90Hz display it would ve made the 6A a great deal. Still going with the Pixel for the camera and Processor. A53 is not bad at all. Tough to choose, but 6a it is. Thanks
Using 6a for few months and absolutely loving every bit of it. Super fast processor, Great great camera and slim lightweight body. Amazing!
Does it have heating issues??
@@Zenguy89yeah

Your eSIM would be of no importance if you travel to Africa. Other areas I accept it’s important.

The pixel does the same since it's a Google phone. I get updates every beginning of the month. I know people who have a Samsung phone and it doesn't

For me it came to the Samsung having a removable back cover. This makes a huge difference when doing a home repair as the screens are often very fragile and are easily broken when taking it off adding ~£70 to your repair job.
What? It doesn't.
@@ranvedsticon2304 No. The pixel has to have it's screen removed in order to replace the battery or any other component. This is very time consuming as you have to remove and reapply glue while being careful not to touch the digitiser.
I have the a53. No regrets, the display is so good
Don't forget that much more space is taken up in the A53 by Samsung bloatware. So you don't really get 128gb. And altho you have an MD card slot, none of the bloatware can be moved to it, and some third party apps I put on phone and moved to SD card repeatedly returned to the main phone. Samsung has a bloatware issue. This video didn't discuss this issue.
@@Honeycombe88 Also, less storage, less data to lose. You don't want to store too much data on a phone!
The A53 is a no-brainer if you are picky about displays. I don’t care about displays at all, so I’d take the Pixel for the camera and the CPU. They’re both about equal for long term software support. Samsung has Cotten a lot better at that than they used to be.
And the Pixel has some chonky bezels. It not too bad, but it makes the A53's bezels look slim lol
Samsung continuing to offer some great phones that don't break the bank. I like the look of the phone as well: the plastic certainly doesn't look cheap and that molded look for the cameras on the back is a nice touch, more effort than you would expect from essentially a "discount phone".
The best feature of the 6a is the size.
I decided for the 6a because I prefer a smaller device.

I was skeptical on 6a and a53, but for me.
Get the A52s it has snapdragon 778G which snappier and very smooth than the A53 the cameras are just the same also A52s has a 3.5mm jack
I've been using an iPhone 6s for about 4 years, so I haven't been accustomed to android at all
I must say that the 6a is fantastic, and was really easy to figure out and it's a way better experience for me personally

If they move wireless charging down to the 'a' series, i'm in!
wireless charging is not as efficient as regular wired charging. it consumes more electricity to fill the battery the same amount.
I thought wireless charging was cool in 2016, but I really haven't bothered with it since then. I think it's cool that it's still around though!

@@aldwin360 OneUI is great, but the look and feel of the entire system is different. Samsung makes many changes and add their own set of bloatwares in OneUI which you wouldn't find any in Stock Android OS. Pixel devices will also be the first ones to receive the latest Android updates.
@@Lord_Pain no I had to put nova Launcher because I hate stock Android look
After watching I actually think the Pixel phone seems a little better but depends what you are really wanting in a phone I suppose. The Pixel phone just seems more future proof in my opinion.
You actually mentioned the Pixel features like Hold for Me, and Call Assist. Good job on the video, Mickey
I'm leaning more towards the 6a tbh! I'm coming from a OnePlus 7T so an upgrade is due, but this video was helpful!
I've upgraded to 6a from 7T 😇
I'm planning to upgrade to 6a from OnePlus6 so a long overdue. What did you end up buying??
I'm a team Galaxy & have had an S series phone since the first Galaxy S! I now have the vanilla Galaxy S22 & love it!
The comparison I was looking for! These are the two phones I've been thinking about buying. :)
Lol really ? These are different tiers of phones altogether.
@@onraj9mm Wdym? They're the same price in the US, without any carrier deals, so they're both midrange phones.
@@onraj9mm they're a dollar apart in price where I live
Me as well.....however the Pixel 7 is now out so I'm going in that direction.
If you want the better display, get the A53, but if you need a faster processor no matter what, the Pixel is a bit snappier.
once you taste google android nothing feels the same i dont care about displays i care about funtionality and google android is MAGIC

Thank You Mike for the good video. It does call out the strength of each phone. If we treasure the picture quality and CPU performance, choose 6A. Other wise, if we treasure the display, extensible RAM storage and and feature, then choose A53.
Battery life is a lot better on the a53 as well.
Those are great points everyone. 😊🌎✨
Easily beats a53 in both camera and processor and size
I took the Pixel. I cannot deal with (what I consider) bloat & lag and my brothers A53 on Verizon does lag. My only issue with 6a is size. I actually like some heft to my phone lol. A case will fix this. I'm on day 2 of my 6a. 😍
I'm planning to buy the 6a. How's your experience been so far?
Ive got the A52S 5g, never had any lag with it
Go with A52s, personal user experience 8/10
@@miftekharabir4938 I have a pixel 6, i was saying because a friends phone is the a52 and its kinda mid ngl (respectfully)
Duuude!!! Big congrats on the wedding! I owe ya a toaster oven as a wedding gift, haha
The 6a gets 5 years of security updates and 3 years of android updates
@@Cynicals44 Thanks
I got the Samsung because it does the things I care about better. Battery, Support, Screen.
I think the Galaxy overall is the better bang for your buck.
I'm still rocking the Pixel 1 ! TIME TO UPGRADE: It only holds a 5 hr charge, when not in use. I'm interested in the 6a, but may just wait for the 7 in October. I've waited this long already !! haha
Google needs to give you a free upgrade!
I've had the Pixel 1 (XL) for 4 years now and I ordered the 6a a couple days ago. I recommend you hold onto your 6a for the unlimited photo/video backup Google Photos still offers for that phone (I'm going to) but I'm looking forward to having a capable processor
Awesome comparison, thanks Mike!
Thanks.
I was ready to pounce on that deal today but they just discontinued that deal :( time to explore my options some more
6a not good phone for list price $449. For same money there are better value options
@@Xevos701 Like what?
I like the vibrant screen experience of the Galaxy A53 with the hardware build and updates of the Pixel 6A.
Everyone wants something different. :D
Warren Buffet said, "Everyone wants something high quality, fast and cheap."
I also have a Samsung Galaxy A53 5G . It does everything I need really well & I love it!
You didn't mention software and OS update differences and support. A huge piece of buying a phone so many people overlook.
I think the a53 5g will do better overall. I looked closely at the pixel 6a but it had too many flaws.
Expandable memory is big for me, display, also battery, so A53 for me. $279 now, I'll trade in my A32 5g which I like alot.
Let us take a moment to mourn the loss of our long beloved friend, the headphone jack. Bring it back I say!
Pixel 6A seems to me much more attractive, the pure Android interface enchants me.
Pixel all the way. From the Clean android experience to the computational photography, Pixel takes the cake!!
A53 has better battery screen and features so its a tough choice.
@@cw1161 maybe for you. For me the choice is clear. Pixel.
@james y yeah I see what you mean that tensorship and the camera is pretty solid but the battery life when compared to the s22 ultra that I have definitely fall short by about 25 to 30% and I have the pixel 6A too but it's definitely not topping Samsung unless we talk about a53 only
@@cw1161 it needs to be pixel software with samsung hardware. That would be 💣 bomb. Lol

If the Pixel was available in my country, I would go with the Pixel. Tho I would try and get a A73 because of the Snapdragon 778g, I still don't trust the Exnyos 1280 on this A53
It's (exynos1280)not that bad , the only down side is the gaming aspect.
@@alanMeplusYou lag
A52s use 778g, it's crazy how it use the same processor with a73 but cheaper than a53
I'd go with the A53 just because it's easily available in my country.
Really good(short) but comprehensive video. I’d prefer the pixel. Also congratulations on your marriage.
Congratulations on your engagement dude. 🥳🥳🥳🥳
I wanted to be a big Pixel fan, but I really like my Samsung. Going with the A53.
I wish Samsung would offer SD Card support in their S22 lineup.
I love that most tech reviewers, for the speakers test, use songs that don't cover the full spectrum
DO NOT buy a Pixel if you live outside of the officially supported regions. You will not have 5G and not even VoLTE.
The only downside with Pixel is software bugs.
I actually think the selfie video on the Pixel looked better despite being lower res... Galaxy sounded better though.
Bought the A53 a month ago. It is indeed a "slow" phone with a lot of options and a so so camera.
Agreed using an A53 right now and its so laggy
Tbh idk
but with a better screen, bigger battery, SD card slot, newer gorilla glass (small fact here, GG3 is a 9 yrs old product), but people just pick on it's one weak point - slightly slow cpu, so just one weak point covers up all the other good.
Both phones are equally good in different ways.
I feel like Samsung A52s is better than A53 and it costs less
The processor is, yes. But TH-camrs are only sponsored to talk about the latest release.
It is
@@FateBoost I don't think most of them are sponsored, but they just not allowed, or don't think hard enough to compare it to its predecessor
@Benjamin Jagun well....google isn't poor. By that logic they could've paid too.
Yes it is
Has anyone besides me seen comments on other sites about signal issues with the Pixels? I have a 3AXL and really like it but at times in our rural area it sure doesn't connect as well as my wife's new A53. The A53 is a fine phone but I'm not sure about trying another Pixel after reading about a continued connection issue. My wife's A53 will show two bars in some areas while the 3AXL will show none, same carrier. In a city, though, the Pixels are fun with the latest from Google.
Congrats on the marriage!
I think, for the price (100$ less), the Samsung Galaxy A53 is a better deal, it has 120 hertz screen, micro SD, bigger battery and it will have 4 year updates. The only thing superior in the 6A is the processor. The cameras is arguable.
the a53 has 120 hertzand 60 and it Will get better with updates
Should've been a73. Just because the a52 was just as good as the a72 doesn't mean it's the better mid range. The a70 series is usually the better choice over the 50 series
And no one cares about the phone wobbling on a table, seeing that ppl pick up their phones. Yall try to make it aa issue
They're not the same price point then. Also people absolutely care about wobbly phones. You pick the damn phone up because it's wobbling. I fucking hate wobbly phones
