Thank you for sharing. Pain mean different things to different people. Cultural competency in physical therapy practice. The way we talk to people is very important. I came across A SPINAL cord injured patient. I was teaching the patient in the walking frame and discovered the patient has dorsiflexion. After getting a psychologist to ACCOMPANY IN my treatment management. We discovered the patient did have a spinal injury but was told by the doctor that if you fall you will not be able to walk. The patient believed the health care professional. So communication is very important. Fear avoidance is a phenomenon we NEED TAKE off. Mostly movement will decrease pain. Encourage the patient to move. Yes the patient can tell where the health care professional is competent or not.
