@panzer86 It doesn't run emulators in the classical sense at all. Instead it has FPGA based cores. So each core makes the internal chip behave exactly (!) like the one in the original console. However, that chip doesn't have enough logical entities to mimic something as big/complex as a Dreamcast.
@@Mika73x2 There is now. Check the Analogue Pocket subreddit. There's a nice new tool that has been released for all major operating systems including Mac.
It took a while, if you pay attention to ebay and the analogue subreddit; there was a lot of unhappy people due to how 'incomplete' the pocket was initially. These were mostly launch day buyers of the pocket that received what initially looked like an incomplete product (and it was). A few people sold them growing tired of analogues silence on updates until openFPGA became a thing back in July. Then it became the 'coolest device' you see now. Not a fan of how uncommunicative analogue is regrading updates... which is why I'm not a fan of their pre-order setup.
I honestly got one and then put it away and forgot about it when the novelty of playing original cartridges wore off. Now I’m playing this more than ever and glad I ended up getting one after all.
Just received my Pocket today finally and have enjoyed your coverage of these latest updates.....PC Engine, Neo Geo and Super GameBoy cores have me STOKED.....WOO!
@@JaeliusFairmoutI bought mine January 1st of this year, I've gotten an email saying my order is being processed now, but still havent received it. If I were in your shoes I would probably just buy one off ebay, there are still people selling them brand new in box. A bit more expensive, but better than waiting over a year for one imo.
Super confused. Do you have a step by step of how to add all these games? I just got mine this week and ordered a 256gb micro SD card. Can I add a large library bro my analogue pocket?
That rtc snes game is where byuu got his nickname from. Hes the one responsible for coding bsnes and sharing his life work to help bring the super nt to life as well as other snes fpga cores.
Still haven’t received mine. I’m in group C and mine hasn’t even shipped yet. I purchased the game gear adapter too but I purchased that a week or so after I ordered my Pocket so who knows when I’ll get that
Good thing mines came in a few days ago. I'm gonna take full advantage of all these cool updates. Now I'm expecting my Dock to come in soon at aome point.
Did you buy the dock on a separate order? I got my Pocket a few days ago too, along with the dock and other stuff on one order, and it all came in one box. And I'm not trying to scare you, but I think if the dock was ordered recently, it's a 2023 ship date, not 100% sure. I was in Group B btw for the last Pocket pre-orders, all those months ago.
@@Chicomite yeah I did order it seperate, right after the Pocket actually. I was told that they'd all be shipped in group B. Even of It doesn't make it to me soon, I got the main hardware I needed, so the dock can wait.
Wish they would make FPGA of classic arcades like: Tapper, Up’n Down, Pengo, Circus Charlie and Bubble Bobble. I see some list and there was Spy Hunter listed as upcoming games.
I finally got mine the other day. The small downside for me is that the shoulder buttons aren't comfortable for the size of my hands. My favorite thing is using the Ganeboy Pocket display.
I keep forgetting about the shoulder buttons lol, i usually play docked using a 8bitdo snes controller and when in handheld im not usually playing games that use the shoulder buttons, but yeah they definitely are one of the bigger downsides.
That's cool. Updater says CIC update. So i didn't bother. Will update. I seen the super gameboy on there already. didn't try. They gotta put cheat codes on the cores.
Maybe they will be released after Analogue has made every last cent it can make off the pocket and its accessories. It would be a great farewell gift to ALL of their supporters.
Here's another hard one that would be good to have a video on: Intellivision! It will only play INTV files, and all the rom sets out there are INT, BIN, or ROMs. The files can't be renamed, they need to be converted individually. Such a pain. Would love to see a video on how to get intellivision working on Analogue Pocket.
I saw there was a new Auto Updater with a GUI now. Need to check that out soon but the one that you use here also works great! I'm sure a lot of people will find value in this video. Appreciate that!
I think the gui version, retrodriven updater works great and allows for an easier time choosing what you want on OpenFPGA... but for me, just clicking a simple executable is all i need that does everything without giving me choices lol. So I just stick with the basic one, but both are fine.
Sitting on the fence on this device. It looks like a good buy. Already have a MiSter FPGA though, and as much as I want the Analogue Pocket, it's a bit hard to justify the buy. 😔
I want a romhack of that Donkey Kong game that makes it run as a GB Color game with the Super Gameboy features enabled. For those who don't know Donkey Kong ('94) is the first game in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series; it is an excellent GB game. I wish I could play it in color.
They just made a Super Game Boy core, allowing you to not only play roms with Super Game Boy support, but also physical cartridges, it just got released. Even GB Space Invaders' special SNES mode works.
@@Chicomite I want a color romhack so I can just run it in as a regular GBC game. Plus, the colors provided by the Super GB suck, although their better than nothing. A romhacker will do a better job bringing the game to life with color.
How are you playing Puzzle Bobble on the Neo Geo core? I can't find the rom for this game even if it saved my life. Please for the love of everything, I know that for legal reasons you can't give me a direct link but it would help if you could at least point me in the right direction because searching around google for a rom that the Neo Geo core on the Analogue Pocket can read isn't easy.

Is the game called something different in the files? because I can't find Bust a Move in the B section of games in the folder.
