can you do a similar video for the odin pro and the retroid pocket 3?
@@frogtoesdynamite5741 dont have either of those handhelds. But you just have to download those games. This works a little different.
i already have roms, the odin pro runs on android, and it takes a lot of dicking around doing it one by one, i have been hunting for an all in solution just like this to streamline the process@@Madlittlepixel

I'm not American, I want to buy an Analog pocket but I don't have a credit card, just a service that doesn't work through pre orders. When is this device going to be available for regular buying???
@@Jucelegario hey, I’m sorry but I don’t know. They’ve been taking preorders since the first batch was shipped and I haven’t heard any updates related to them shipping additional batches yet. Honestly, most of their products are not available on their store for very long because of how few they product so I can understand your frustration. I wish I had a better answer for you.

Thanks for the video. Apparently, I used an older version of the updater, but it got the current stuff. I am running the new version just in case. Way easier to set things up.

Bro, this is awesome!!! I just got my Pocket last week. Your instructions are simple and to the point. Thank you! I'm also running a 256GB Sandisk Extreme Plus Micro SD card. Just got done playing some NES Batman and Contra 3. Dig the Rammstein hat, too! Saw them last year at the Vikings stadium. Rock on! \m/
Been playing this way more now that I can take all these games on the go without having to carry around all these carts.
Not sure if its just me but.. using the updater.. everythings cool except Neo Geo.. Keep getting this error, Framework "SROM" id3. No idea how to fix and everything I saw to try on TH-cam didnt help. Anyone have any ideas???

Mine has 64G and I think is overkill. You can have the full Ronset of every retro platform perfectly in a smaller micro sd. 👍

I'm still a little fuzzy on why they call it hardware-based emulation, when you need to install software to make the various games run.
Because its code that programs the fpga to run as if it was the original hardware.

did I understand this correctly? No need to keep getting a new updater, you just use the same updater exe file as it will always download the most recent files and auto-update it?

Hey i have an issue, my pocket wont read that i have an sd card in there so it wont format the sd card, therefore cant update firmware or download cores, yada yada

Yes some games have been ported. The Simpsons has been as well, but I dont think its publicly available yet.
How do you put a micro SD card on a gaming pc? My pc case has no SD slot.

8 - 128gb is what most use. Depends on if you want to play cd based games. Otherwise 64gb works well.

MAME is emulation, not FGPA - it doesn't work that way. Arcade boards work very differently and you need support by board or by board platofrm.

You need the Darksoft Neo Geo pack, I cannot directly link it but go to the internet archive and search for htgdb-gamepacks and you will find what you need.
@@Madlittlepixel I have it! The game folders are all in the common drive. The Unibios 1 is in the common drive, when I go to open the folders in Analog there is nothing showing in them.
@@Stevel_ Hmm, well it looks like there have been some updates to the Neo Geo core and there are actually 2 Neo Geo core options now. But check the github for what the new requirements are if any, I havent had a chance to dig all the way into it yet but will later today. Madpixel sorry if you mentioned it but how do you get the latest firmware and update the system to use the cores?
The github auto updater I showed and linked in the description grabs the latest official firmware and puts it on your micro SD card. Once you put it into the pocket you will have it updated, takes a couple mins.

This was amazing; thank you so much! This is going to be my new go-to machine for 8-16 bit gaming I think, and it's FPGA not emulated. The ONLY system this thing is really missing right now is Atari Lynx....hopefully soon. Also, can you do save states for any of these games? Or is it battery save games only that save to the "saves" file on the pocket? Also---What controller works well with the dock?? THANK YOU!!

MAME Is emulation, not FPGA - arcade games have to be ported to work individually generally speaking. FGPA is different from software emulation. MAME won't work.

so I followed the steps but when i run updater, I hit update all but when its downloading cores, it says uh oh something went wrong and there's nothing in the assets files. Any help?

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the big deal with this system? A retroid pocket 3 can run up to dreamcast emulation. So with these new Analogue Pocket cores, you can basically run emulation? Why wouldnt a person just buy a retroid pocket 2 plus or retroid pocket 3? This system feels like a hype beast system where if you don't say anything good about it, the " hardcore" gamers will chastise you? Like the kings new cloths , but really he wasnt wearing Sh*t and ppl were just sucking up and kissing butt? I want answer now damnit.

@@thaiden03 it really boils down to the difference between emulation in software or at the hardware level. This machine would be for someone that wants extremely accurate game play to the original hardware. Most people won't notice the improved accuracy.

The wireless one never shuts down the Bluetooth, not even if you have it plugged to the computer and the computer is off. And the sticks' necks start to disintegrate after 2 months of good use.
