On my last visit to Pattaya some 15+ years ago, I stayed at the Areca. It doesn't look like much has changed. The standard rooms are still outdated, but comfortable. Overall, for the money, the Areca is one of the better hotels for its amenities and LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.
One of the reasons why I booked at the Areca is that it's a very well known hotel. On my first visit to Pattaya some 25+ years ago, I booked at a small hotel, and the baht bus driver had never heard of it so he dropped me off at what he thought was my hotel. It wasn't. I ended up walking around for 30 minutes with my luggage asking people if they knew my hotel and where it was located. Luckily, people were helpful and got me pointed in the right direction. I was pissed. My first time in Pattaya and it started off badly.
Stayed there 2 weeks ago and it was 1300 baht a night. Good rooms and Great location.
Just saw this video. I am staying at the Areca this November for 9 nights. It looks nice and is right in the middle of tons of nightlife.
May I ask what price you paid per night?

1st hotel I stayed at when I came to Pattaya in 2005.
Great memories.
But yes, always busy.
My first hotel that I stayed about 20 years ago. They had PC's at the side of reception. Remember booking my next trips. Always brings back amazing memories. Excellent location. Great hotel if you can get it at a good price. You are spoilt for choice in Pattaya and they're a lot more modern and better looking hotel around for a similar price

Made me nostalgic to see the Areca again, one of my very first hotels in Pattaya… Yeah, you’re right, it’s a good hotel, in a perfect location, albeit not cheap… They did show you a room on an upper floor, maybe even the top floor, which for me would be the only viable option, as the view is much nicer…
I just stayed at Areca last week for 4 nights. Good value and very friendly staff. Great location and BTW this part of Pattaya was very busy especially Tree Town.
Its a great location. Seen it so many times in videos but first time to actually see it inside. Would be really good to see the other rooms they have as it seems they have about another 10 different type of rooms so would be handy to see the other room types they have available also. cheers.

Great hotel Daz .stayed there many times.can you do a hotel review on the flipper house hotel in soi seven.this is a great hotel and a very good location .they have a few different room choices to.i normally try and stay in the junior suite this is very nice and definitely worth a look.and the mini suite .but all the rooms are tip top.thanks for your efforts and hard work showing us around.all the best and regards Damon 👍🏻

Its spot on them prices in a great place to I'm so tempted to book up for thailand but it's the govement change like the weather supposed to be opening up 1st june but how long for are are they going to bring some more new rules in you just never know with them ((

I stayed at the Areca my last two visits and will be returning when I go in December. Breakfast buffet and the restaurant were delicious, staff professional/friendly, great location and all around a lovely place to stay while visiting!

I stayed there in 2018, the pools were great and breakfast was good, my room faced west and got the afternoon sun which meant returning to a room like a sauna. The building at the rear is part of the lodge also and appears newer, not sure if you can book into that wing separately

FYI - the walk in daily rate is actually quite high. If you look at the hotel online using any of the booking sites/apps you can save more if you only want to stay for a few days to try the place first. Example, I just reserved a deluxe room for 7 nights and the rate worked out at 1430 baht including all taxes and breakfast for 2.
Stayed there many times. Great staff, great location if you like te bar scene. I normally stay in the Evergreen wing, that 3rd tower out the back, bigger rooms and so quiet
Only been in there once to meet a mate, that was on my first visit to thailand in november 2009, it still looks fresh, i stayed at LK metropole hotel and it hasnt changed much since then either, lk,s old fashioned in comparison but i always stay there, only for a few days now though ,.i think LK,s doing some special deals now to, i think it was 10000bht a month (dont quote me),. nice video daz, cheers,.
Amazing. Really interested in that monthly rate. Great location. I also like the nearby Mercure, but that monthly rate is a big draw. And a short walk to Cheap Charlies, LK, Pot Hole, Lenke, Buakhao. What's not to like?

First stayed there when first visited pattaya in 2004 and became our regular go too hotel. Probably one of the best locations and a good breakfast, Robins Nest for good food and MrT taxi directly across from the hotel. Rooms look like they could do with updating but would still stay there anyway (October) if all goes well
Stay there when ever back but stay in the evergreen part,great hotel and great location.It’s a perfect place to stay.
Would love to see the suite that takes 4 people. Wanting to find somewhere high end and the ability to accommodate 3 guests.
Being picky Daz, a small suggestion would be possibly to take photos of the menus at establishments and add to video with 2 second pause. Bit easier to read. As I say being picky, great vid as always
Excellent review on this popular hotel.. Love it next to LK Metro and in quiet road and big swimming pool... $600/month is super cheap... This would cost $150/night in US... Girls must love guys staying here...

Always fancied a stay in the Areca, it looks the part, but the walk, down steps up the ramp to the lift for the standard room you featured would not suit my dud knees, which building and room type is in the 1st building and probably more accessible for me?
I remember checking out this hotel first time I came to Pattaya but didn’t realise it was a lot cheaper monthly nalanta is a lovely hotel just off Bukhao but no pool

Thanks, its good to see a recent showing of the room, cant always trust the websites. The monthly rate is great. not sure how the 2nd girl charge would work on a monthly rate though. I guess 500bth for every party you have.
you just changed my whole trip i had it booked for 2 weeks over my month stay. Is it easier to just walk in and get the room of your choice?
It's a good place the Areca, very central to most things and those jets in the back pool are nice and relaxing. They use to have a front bar located on Soi Dianna looks like it's closed for now?
There are 3 buildings Areca Corona and Evergreen where the luxury rooms are and also has breakfast room great place to stay quiet and close to everything
My first time in Pattaya I stayed at Areca Lodge, love it, nice place. It was highly recommended by Kev in Thailand. Great Great Great location, very centralized. Cheers from Southern California Daz

This has always been a well kept hotel and it still shows that way with your tour.. i believe this is great value for the money on a monthly bases if you want to stay in the Soi Buakhao area... L.A Rob

@@terryholland9273 HI Terry i have been coming to bangkok and pattaya for over 20 years if you are looking for a good room i would not really want to stay in the area outlined in this vlog its kind of a grinder i would be looking in Wongamat beach or even Jomtien both much nicer and there is no question that you can find deals in wongamat beach you can try the Mike Hotel or even long stay at Plumeria Pattaya

Are these cheap monthly rates available all year round, or are they only available due to covid and no customers. I can't imagine those cheap rates being available in high season, in normal times.

I've stayed there before also.. it's ok, but like you said, it's the location. Right across the street is a good Thai restaurant, a good laundry too. The areca is my personal 2nd. Might I suggest a review of the residence garden hotel on Thappraya Rd. My #1location to stay in patts. Same price as areca but the rooms have a kitchenette and separate bedroom. And on the baht bus route. The service is outstanding.
It looks quite far away how long does it take to get to tree town? Is it walkable? Good for walking street though when that comes back.
1 or 2 ladies per day or per month 😂? Another video said daily rental in the first house with newer interior. Monthly rental in the second house, with older rooms. I would easy choose this. Well taken care of, good cleaning, big pool and perfect location.
Walked past it many times and have always been curious. Curiosity quenched. Is The Flipper Lodge Hotel still active on Soi 8? As it was my 1st accommodation way back in Feb '07. Any idea of the price on a month's stay this December? As I'd like to do a nostalgia thing😉

the Vogue in soi Lenke is a good mid/cheap price hotel as well
I stay there when I come to Pattaya he showed you the the part that has not be redone or remodeled
They also have a room that is 600bt a bay near the elevator but you have to ask
Also you want to have 2 on your Reservation so both of get breakfast in the morning it doesn’t cost anymore if you do it that way

Personally I don’t see any reason to stay at a mid level hotel. The high end is almost the same price. At least the ones you’ve shown us. I guess you pay for connivence. I personally would rent a scooter. Stay further out which pays for the scooter and your food budget. I’ll take the bargain places. Nice and clean. I can buy a few paintings and a chair. A small table and chair set for the balcony. A few plants. Home. I will say. I can’t get over that hotel right on the beach. That was sensational
After my quarantine, I stayed 2 extra nights in the Blackwood hotel Soi 7 and then moved to Soi 15 Centara and they me a rate of 1200 bath a night for 22 nights , great location/ quiet / and very close to Soi Boomerang 🤣😃👍 staying until 11th .
