5:25 You use grenades for this jump. Not rockets.
6:18 This grunt doesn't even carry a fuel rod. You kill the grunts to prevent dialogue and save time.
10:22 You don't need envy. You're play as the arbiter... It prevents a rocket flood from spotting you. They can't see you when you're invisible, even if you're driving.
11:29 You don't need to kill anything. You need the brute to hit you so he falls in right above you.

Am I missing something? I thought he needed envy cus Chief doesn't have camo (and he's playing as Chief here)
@@tTaseric He said hopping out and back into the ghost gives you camo (if you have the envy skull active). He's playing as the arbiter there (10:22) so envy is not needed. He hops out to activate the camo and gets back in.
This guy didn't really do any research or anything. There's a lot of misinformation in this video.
I started a LASO run. Took 3 different days with different strats to beat CE level 1 smh
Jaden Bertke If you’re gonna do LASO for Halo CE or 2, you’re basically screwed unless you have 2 players. Don’t even bother trying it solo.

@@221Prohunter If you mean because of Iron, you can save and quit when you die as a solo player to effectively give yourself checkpoints. Other than that, they actually aren't too terrible solo. Library for one, is actually easier solo LASO.
YES!!! I've been waiting for this one! I think you missed some important things like using the wraith to blow up the phantom drops on metro (also the super bounce to get onto the scarab on metro would've been fun to show as an alternate strategy), the order that you kill certain enemies in the free for all room on gravemind, and then the giant ghost drop on uprising. Still very well done. Halo 2 is my favorite game to watch (and play) speedrunning because of how much fun it is to soar through the air like the majestic power armored badass you are.

@@oscarvalencia8430 a friend and I made it on legendary to the room where (later in the game) keyes is a proto-gravemind and it glitched or something and the doors wouldn't open, so we had to restart the entire thing! It's funny now, but wasn't then

There's a really handy glitch in Halo 2 during consecutive Arbiter missions, if you run out of energy sword ammo in the first mission and go into the second mission with that empty sword, you get a free unlimited ammo invisible sword.

You might have not been able to do Sword flying yourself because it wasn't in the PC version, and has only recently been put back into the MCC version.
It was added in almost two years ago now, I think the no walking in H2 was able to do them, but couldn't figure them out.
I never knew about sword flying, but that explains why I kept flying off the gondola in quarantine zone.
They must have patience and balls of steel if they can do all of these speedruns
I noticed you getting sword flys and sword cancels conflated through the video, there is a difference between a sword fly and a sword cancel. Sword flys let you lunge at enemies that are way out of the swords typical red reticle range by tricking the game into using your other weapons red reticle range. You can tell if it is a sword fly if they have a different weapon out right before they do the fly.
Sword cancels are just using the swords regular lunge range, but pressing reload mid lunge to cancel the melee part of the lunge, and jumping to clear the enemies head to keep your momentum from the lunge. These are the ones that are done when somewhat close to the enemy, with the sword out well before the cancel. Sword cancels are much easier than sword flys typically.
@Mason Tatum No, a sword fly is essentially like a long range sword cancel. You can pretty much already throw yourself across the map with a sword fly alone.
I just noticed world-line zero skating is pretty much destinys version of sword flying
There's a 1:26 world record for classic and a 1:27 record for MCC but I didn't read the description. Halo 2s one of my all time favorite speedruns.
They beat the entire game in the time it took me to beat gravemind on heroic.

The FRG on oracle didn't come from the grunt it was carry over.
It was also completely irreverent to the run cause he would have dropped it for the sentinel beam in the next room anyway haha
The Regret boss fight is probably one of the hardest parts in the game on Legendary, even being good at sword flying, it’s random where you get dropped off after boarding him. Underwhelming?
He did a good job explaining it but as a Speedrunner of this game there are some stuff that he pointed out that was wrong

You have to press the button combo YXR in the space of 2 frames.
Depends what you mean. If you mean a sword cancel, then it's RT followed quickly by X and A, if it's a sword fly it's Y - X - R pressed on consecutive frames.

If you pause the game during a mission does the timer still go or does it pause as well. because I absolutely would not want to remember this whole campaign strat in my head while playing it.
Nope the timer stops when you pause, same with cutscenes
For a speedrun timer, Halo 2 is run on RTA (menus matter). But the timer on MCC doesn’t count menus or loads. It’s all IGT.
I’ll tell you exactly how these people do it. They don’t just run through the levels, skipping enemies and dodging shots. They use that grenade jumping technique.
Can we please stop looking up to these cheaters? What ever happened to ACTUALLY beating a Halo game on legendary without dying?
If you can beat the entire Halo 2 campaign on legendary with all skills on or not in like, 4 hours, you’re obviously cheating in some way.
I’m not a god at FPS games, but I’m good enough to enjoy Halo on Heroic mode, and that’s even a nice challenge for me. I’ve been playing Halo ever since the Xbox 360 first came out.
Beating Halo on Legendary this way: Phony.

Rocket, u had a lot of fuck ups in this video but w/e most people dont know the right names or how things work, but i woud reccomend you yourself, go watch halo 2 segmented easy, its pretty insane, legendary halo 2 mcc will be out soon too, there is mcc segmented and classic(xbox 360) segmented for easy already out, strats are quite different and games feel quite different so both runs are pretty unique( u can go trough floor on arbiter to skip hangar, u can get launched on metro across entire bridge section etc.) :)

This kind of video is pretty cool, but... a little unfulfilling. Especially because I KNOW some of these insane tricks - my favorite of which is the invincibility elevator glitch on "The Oracle" - and they're just skimmed over. I know it's not realistic to include all these specific little tricks in detail, but I'm sure at least the really universal tricks of each game are worth a minute or two of explanation.
That Oracle one, at least, would take like ten seconds... although that one isn't universal at all ha3...
Edit: Not to mention that some tricks are just explained, well, wrong. Probably not because you had bad information, but for the sake of keeping up the quick pace. Which I guess is fitting for a speedrun. Ba-dum-tssss

Even so, the larger and, as I said, UNIVERSAL tricks are barely touched on at all. Sword-flying and related tricks not counted, cos I think most of this relatively niche audience are at least vaguely familiar with those.
Spritz yeah, there’s some tricks that you can use in every Halo game but they’re barely covered. It sucks but I’m not the one making the video
