The Entrapta/Hordak character dynamic is one of my favorite things about this show. Entrapta completely fails to pick up on his attempts to be menacing, and just approaches him as a fellow tech enthusiast. And Hordak, who has quite possibly never had any social interaction with someone who views him as their equal, has no idea what to make of it.

3:15 The little things like Catra's ears or a shift of the eyes shows that not only was the writing good, but the animators knew what was going on as well.

I don't know how much you know about the OG series from the 80's version, but one thing that was definitely an improvement in the Netflix version was how Hordak was handled. In the OG series, he was She-Ra's arch nemesis but like Skeletor from He-Man, which no surprise since the shows connected, Horak even being Skeletor's boss it turned out (I remember the shows crossing over sometimes back when I was little, Adora was He-Man's twin sister in that show, even having the same swords). Hordak was also a character with this huge backstory like he was from another planet called 'Hordeworld" and was the younger brother of Horde Prime, who they only showed as this giant entity with red eyes, covered in smoke but would point this huge mechanical finger at Hordak when he failed, which was all the time. He also did this long snort after everything he said, such a buffoon honestly He's far more menacing here, with some layers to him, I really like what this show did with him. We'll have to see how close they keep his back story to the OG series as we go on.
Funny how the OG She-Ra only happened cause Mattel, the House of Barbie, had the boy's department out sell the girls department due to He-Man for a few years.
@tristanmilner9511 The funny part about the Hordak lore dump I gave was I only discovered him being an alien and the younger brother of Horde Prime, from his bio on the He-Man 2003 remake cartoon series DVD. The third season had one episode that showed Hordak himself in a flashback where he fought the originator of He-Man's powers, King Greyskull, so it wasn't even in the current time period of the cartoon, it was in the distant past. He was also briefly on a later episode where Skeletor was supposed to set him free from where King Greyskull banished him but destroyed the gate because he's Skeletor, keeping him trapped. Had the show been renewed for a 4th season, the writers had plans to have Hordak be the main villain of the season, hence why they had a full bio of him on the DVD special features screen.
@@nedzed3663 Interesting. The 2021 CGI He-Man set up their Hordak in their season 3 as well. Sadly, I don't think they're getting a season 4 due to that Hordak's VA, Kevin Conroy, passing away. Their King Greyskull was played by the OG Skeletor, Alan Oppenheimer.

To me, Catra taking down Shadow Weaver was not as pleasant as others found it. It seemed like Catra was confirming the cycle of abuse and self-loathing set up by Shadow Weaver for her "daughters". It was like Luke Skywalker using his hate to try and destroy Darth Vader and give in to the dark side. To those who have already seen the series, there is video analysis on Catra's behavior on TH-cam.
Hordak secretly wants to build portals so that he can finally get some bars on his phone and wifi. He's so grumpy because he hasn't been able to watch his favorite duckling videos. The reason he wanted to conquer bright moon is because the big glowy tower is the only source of 5g on Etheria and he wants to get a decent signal.
I'm not really the demographic for this show but ended up really enjoying it. Hordak's character arc was more relatable to me and I really appreciated that part of the story starting in this episode
I have a show recommendation, It’s called Mobile Suit Gundam Witch From Mercury. It’s an Anime, The English dub actor for the main protagonist is Jill Harris, aka Charlie from Hazbin Hotel. The show has LGBTQ themes, fun characters, a cohesive and strong story, has this mix of light hearted moments and very dark moments, and some incredible action sequences. After the Owl House ended, I felt a need to find something to get me engaged and make me look forward to what the future has in store, that’s when Witch from Mercury caught my eye. As someone who wasn’t even that big of an anime fan, I highly recommend this show to you. As of now Season two airing is still releasing episodes every Sunday and it’s wrapping up. So if you’re interested I highly recommend it.
"You could transport troops and tanks ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD" "You're thinking too small." Sounds to me like it's more a matter of range that she wasn't thinking big enough on since they went right into that immediately after.
Fun fact: According to the Masters of the Universe canon, Hordak's homeworld was destroyed by being in the path of a portal/wormhole. So he is right about that.
One thing about this show; the writers were very, very good at (and fond of) just blatently handing you breadcrumbs, and then making you wait SEASONS to get the payout. Ballsy, given Netflix's reputation for cancelling shows for being too successful. But it really works, rarely does a big reveal or turn feel like it's completely out of nowhere, or deus ex machina
I just realized, they stopped pretending like Swift Wind isn't a communist, when he greets them by saying 'Comrades!'. In the context of all the other stuff he's been preaching, yeah, Swift Wind is absolutely a communist. Also, interesting title. From the makers of "Catra, no!" comes the surprise twist sequel "Stop it, Adora!" Can't wait to see how this plays out, even though I've watched the entire series at least 5 times, because it's just that good. Even the stuff that isn't so good. You need that, so you have something to compare the good to.
Entrapta and Hordak have my favorite character dynamic in the whole show. The way she completely fails to recognize his attempts to be threatening and just sees him as a fellow tech enthusiast, and he _does not know what to make of this_ is just... very entertaining! I don't think Catra's bothered that Entrapta left her to work with Hordak, so much as the fact that Entrapta is replacing her as Hordak's most valued underling. As long as Catra is of value to Hordak, she knows he can't harm her. And she's losing that. The portal arc is so good! I loved the twist that Hordak is trying to usurp control of the rest of the First Ones' empire, inspired by Mara's attempted coup long ago. The fact that the Horde was essentially created by She Ra is quite poetic, imo.
Unfortunately Catra gets beaten AGAIN. She wants so badly to be THE one everyone respects and cares about. Little does she know it’s never going to be enough.
I wonder if you ever watched the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon from the 80's. It is right along the lines of this She-Ra remake? If you like this, you may like that. I know that you're a D & D geek.

The reason he wanted to conquer bright moon is because the big glowy tower is the only source of 5g on Etheria and he wants to get a decent signal.
Quack 🦆
That "tilted" angle is called a Dutch angle. It's a corruption of "Deutsch", because it was first used in German silent films.
And here the seeds for one of the most hotly debated parts of the whole storyline are planted...
The world must be cleansed by the presence of mosco😇
ohhhh you haven’t gotten to the episode where entrapta dies… good luck I cried so hard on it
WOOOO ANOTHER SHERA REACTION LETS GOOOO 🤭🤭❤️
Catra had the most important person to her run off to be around others EPISODE ONE, ya know. This ain't new ground for her. lol
I'm not really the demographic for this show but ended up really enjoying it. Hordak's character arc was more relatable to me and I really appreciated that part of the story starting in this episode
entrapdak!!!!
I'll second this, witch from mercury is great
I've been waiting to recommend it until I'm sure it sticks the landing with the final episode this week.
The title of the video should be She-Ra 2x03 Episode 3 (there is a typo). Great reaction as always😊
Hope you appreciated your first moment of... Entrapdak
Was Rose texting Juleka, or was Juleka texting Rose?
We're all friends of mara
Ah, a blooming romance.
When she looked at her phone and smiled was she talking Elisha
👀
Yeeey, signals episode♥️
"You could transport troops and tanks ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD" "You're thinking too small." Sounds to me like it's more a matter of range that she wasn't thinking big enough on since they went right into that immediately after.
Fun fact: According to the Masters of the Universe canon, Hordak's homeworld was destroyed by being in the path of a portal/wormhole. So he is right about that.
And so begins the third best ship in the show
1. Catra and therapy
2. Catradora
3.Entrapdak
Not a bad list. Too bad we never got the Mara and the pie ship though.
@@Drudenfusz why’d you have to go and do that to my poor heart?!
Uhm, I think you accidentally misplaced Entrapdark as number 3, and not the number 1 that it so clearly deserves.
! will forever hold a special place in my heart
you might be right and it activated when the tower was restored.
Catra really cared about entratra till.....whatever that was happend
Where's your love where's your feelings........
Yall yall yall
Next episode is gay nostalgia city
Hordak menacing? Wrong, Hordak is harmless since Bow scrambled his brains.
ily sm
One thing about this show; the writers were very, very good at (and fond of) just blatently handing you breadcrumbs, and then making you wait SEASONS to get the payout. Ballsy, given Netflix's reputation for cancelling shows for being too successful. But it really works, rarely does a big reveal or turn feel like it's completely out of nowhere, or deus ex machina
Adora+🗡️=She-Ra, Catra+🗡️=LionO
I just realized, they stopped pretending like Swift Wind isn't a communist, when he greets them by saying 'Comrades!'. In the context of all the other stuff he's been preaching, yeah, Swift Wind is absolutely a communist. Also, interesting title. From the makers of "Catra, no!" comes the surprise twist sequel "Stop it, Adora!" Can't wait to see how this plays out, even though I've watched the entire series at least 5 times, because it's just that good. Even the stuff that isn't so good. You need that, so you have something to compare the good to.
Wait, did they ever pretend he wasn't?
Yeah, Swift Wind has always (in this version) been an ancom.
🦂 is the best girlfriend, shame on you 😺 for not recognizing it.
I have a recommendation, Nimona (2023) based on the graphic novel 'Nimona' by N.D. Stevenson.
Lord hordak is Darius from owl house
It's called a Dutch Angle. Shows when things aren't right.
The fact that the Horde was essentially created by She Ra is quite poetic, imo.
yess 2x3
Unfortunately Catra gets beaten AGAIN. She wants so badly to be THE one everyone respects and cares about. Little does she know it’s never going to be enough.
I always appreciate a good comeuppance
That’s what I was thinking by the end of this episode.
Chop suey, look that word. It may give you the answer, that you seek. Many, many apple-ogies for the inconweenience.
I both love and hate how this began the hordak x entrapta ship
I wonder if you ever watched the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon from the 80's. It is right along the lines of this She-Ra remake? If you like this, you may like that. I know that you're a D & D geek.
There are very few unlovable characters in this series. Almost everyone gets some kind of hint at redemption.
oh Mara....
Have you watched the original She-Ra cartoon?
