    Good basic video. Adjusting a 32/36 on a 81 Civic 1500. The throttle linkage is what I really need to see as there is a ton of slop before it even takes up the slack.

      Right on! I hope it was helpful. I ended up modifying the factory throttle linkage from the tercel onto this Weber carb.

    Great video. I got it and adjusted as you described and it worked!! Super simple. The webers are on both my 1971 Datsun 521's equipped with the old school Offenhsuser split intakes.

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I hope it helped! An old Datsun like that is a bucket list car of mine.
      I love the simplicity and reliability of Weber carbs!

      Thank you Too!
      Had one for 43 yrs while the other 25 yrs. Yes super simple/durable/reliable and easily modifiable. Had SU side drafts but they were a headache. Love electric choke and always works. The old l series Datsun engines have a wonderful racing legacy.
      I am here in NW Washington state. Give me your email and send you a couple pics.
      Love spud your name for your rig.

      Did you have to install a fuel pressure regulator?

      Yes, I did. Currently ita set the 2 PSI

      @@BeardedWrencher Thanks for the reply. I just bought an offbrand weber on Amazon. It works great, but I still have the mechanical fuel pump. I have a 72 datsun 510 wagon L20. I need to tune it though, but I was wondering if I was going to need a fuel pressure regulator. I had an old weber on it, but it had a fuel return line that was plugged with a burned off fuel hose which deteriorated. Rebuilding was going to cost the same as getting the one from Amazon with one fuel inlet. Figured I give it try

    What fuel pressure regulator are you running? Thanks for the awesome vid and help

    • @BeardedWrencher
      @BeardedWrencher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend using "Fuel Pressure Regulator 1060 1-6 psi Returnless Chrome for Gasoline"
      (Search that on eBay)
      It's a dial style pressure regulator. You can set it by just turning a dial instead of a grub screw with a gauge! It makes it a lot easier.
      I am currently using a random cheap one from Holley!

      @@BeardedWrencher thanks so much!just got a mr fuel one! I’m currently dealing with gas starvation, I think anyway. Timing is on, new plugs, new distributor, new wires, new gas, fresh oil change and still cutting out at 2000rpm in gear. Thinking a carb rebuild and an appropriate amount of fuel being delivered will do the trick!

    Hi there, my 1958 AMC Rambler Super didn't have this type of carb but it will work very well for the engine, a 195.6 ohv six cyl, the engine is being rebuilt in a shop so I don't have it installed in the rambler, so figuring out the throttle link is not something I can do right now. I have been wondering.... How would I supply power to the electric choke if there's no wire previously routed to serve that function?? Can I ask your opinion as to where to take the power from?

    • @BeardedWrencher
      @BeardedWrencher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right on man! I am not familiar with that platform at all, but all you need is a keyed 12V source for the carb choke. Find anything that is a keyed hot and run a wire to it and you're done!
      I am using one of the old emissions component as a source for the power on mine. You could likely wire in some sort of toggle switch if need be. But I would imagine there's a keyed hot somewhere for something you could tie into and use that.

    Hey there would this fit the 2TC 1.6 engine? I believe it does. 32/36 K740. Where did you buy this? Could I get a link please! I don’t want to find a replica

    • @BeardedWrencher
      @BeardedWrencher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought mine from partsgeek. I would look and see if they make an adapter plate for your engine! I don't know anything about those. But I would imagine they make a plate for it!

    What year is your tercel? I'm looking to convert my 2000 Celica GT. I need to either build or adapt the air intake on mine. Your Tercel intake looks like it may do! Also, what is the model number of the carb adpater if you wouldn't mind?

  • @650jdb

    Hey, how did you set up the throttle cable and linkage? I have a Corolla with a 4AC and I can’t find any images of a decent throttle set up.

    • @BeardedWrencher
      @BeardedWrencher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I modified the factory carb linkage on it. I pulled the nut off the linkage and swapped the end onto the Weber and then moved the cable bracket over a little by bending it.
      It is off center but it works fine and has for many years!
      If you email me or message me on IG, I can send you pictures if you need!

    can you tell me how many turns for the mixture needle and the idle screw. has the same engine and same 3236 with yours, mines is not running smooth and black smokes is out from the muffler

    • @BeardedWrencher
      @BeardedWrencher  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would turn the mixture screw in slowly until the engine starts to run badly. Then do 1/8 turns until it's smooth. If you are unsure, just thread it all the way in until it gently stops. Then back it out 3ish turns and adjust accordingly.

    I have a 86 Corolla I going to install the Weber k740 kit does I need a fuel pressure regulator? Because some friends telling me that I no need to use that in my car just the carburetor? Can someone can help me with that question here please

      All webers require a fuel pressure regulator. Max 3psi, If they argue with you, they are wrong. Use webers website for proof from the manufacturer themselves.

    Hello, i like your videos. Please can you let me know where did you bought the weber carburetor and the filter

    • @BeardedWrencher
      @BeardedWrencher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought both of them off eBay! The filter and carb come as a kit. There's many different baseplate adapters for various engines so make sure you specific look for what engine you need the carb to work for!

      Hmmm, I can't imagine the choke wouldn't allow it to turn on. How are you powering up the choke? I know when it's cold out and I don't have the choke plugged in, it starts very poorly.
