the pufferfish give you an extra boost if you push the direction you are going to go after you hit it or dash into it! same with bumpers from chap6 its called like super bump or something i think
14:22 if you input right when triggering the pufferfish within a 2 frame window you boost. Trick is to not input directions until you are already flying. G effing G on making it!
Yeah I got so confused by this on my first playthrough, then I got the point in sc2020 where the game teaches it to you as tech and went "ohhhhhhhhhhhhh thats why I kept dying randomly"
after i played undertale i started finding its ost everywhere, it is funny how undertale music is so good and popular it can even be found in videos about other fantastic games, with a good music on its own. for example, 1:07 - hopes and dreams starting
Fun fact! This chapter is the only chapter where having a golden berry adds an extra troll room at the end of the chapter that you need to beat in 1 shot. On top of that, if you go with a golden on the moon berry route, the golden berry leaves you and goes to where you respawn when you “die”, so you can do a run where you both get the moon berry, and THEN do the extra room for the golden… all without dying once through the ENTIRE CHAPTER
GOD, the farewell OST is SO beautiful man. Just to be clear, ALL the songs in chapter 9 are fantastic, but the song for the last screen is just SO beautiful to me. GG on this as well Mint, chapter 9 is REAL hard so congrats ❤❤
the scriptwriting and editing on this video are phenomenal and its a shame you aren't more popular, because this is the kind of quality i expect of a channel that's much larger.
Literally watched the achievements video today earlier lol. Was gonna ask if moonberry wasn't an achievement on xbox and stumbled here. Massive grats for doing the whole thing! It is extremely hard so well, mad props Secondly, now that you've finished the game content, I'd strongly recommend modding in case you're interested. Its super easy because of a platform (Olympus) that basically does all the hard stuff for you. The strawberry jam collabs are really cool and add new mechanics that aren't in the base game Finally, wavedashing isn't every kind of wonky dash you use: (this is basically definitions and clearing up some mechanics which could be misunderstood) Superdash: dash horizontal and then jump immediately Hyperdash: Dash Diagonally downwards and then jump Extended Super/Hyper: by delaying a bit the jump input you get to refresh the dash without exhausting momentum. Works for both super and hyper dashes and lets you keep a dash in the air. Wavedash: basically an airborne Hyperdash. In most scenarios its the same as an extended Hyperdash and can work interchangeably, unless the platform space is very restrictive Reverse Super/Hyper: similarly to extendeds, this works on both super and hyperdashes. By changing directions (after dashing, before jumping) you'll launch yourself the opposite way. Wall bounce: What you call the vertical wavedash. Unlike the rest, there is no way to keep a dash after executing them. Most of these techniques have practice rooms to refine them in the Strawberry jam collabs! Welp that's about it. Awesome videos had a blast watching them both back to back :D
Thank you man, glad you liked it! That part of the video was a joke for the record. Some people get pissy when you use the wrong names and I think that's funny.
@@mintmuffled lmao thats a big woosh by me. Gave me the vibe you figured mechanics out by doing them and not by reading up, so I wouldn't have found it weird if all those were just wavedash variants for anyone. I'll keep the comment maybe someone who doesn't know the game well enough can read this and take something away from it. GG
So I just learnt that you could just skip the gate barrier after the fake ending and I am going through the five stages of grief realizing I didn’t actually have to beat all of the b sides and get all of the crystal hearts.
Yup, like they said. The rest is sooooo much harder than those c-sides, you might just have to go back and do them just to feel the satisfaction of finishing something.
With farewell, there were like 2 parts that I really struggled with, and for no good reason. One was the super long falling platforms with the springs (which you barely had in the video for like 2 seconds lol), and I don't know why I found that one so difficult. The other one was the first room where you have to chuck the jelly at the buttons to open stuff, because my brain did *not* process that that was a thing the jellys could do, and I was stuck there for *way* too long trying to figure out what I was meant to be doing. Also, StreamerDoesntKnow 7:47 I actually haven't gotten past that yet because I've been super slow getting all of the crystal hearts I need for it, because I literally only had the four you needed to unlock Core once I finished it, and I hadn't even touched the B sides. I'm like halfway through now, but I've been kinda playing it casually, knowing what comes next is going to be utter pain, and *also* knowing that it isn't the end of it all thanks to the golden berry. I am *terrified* to try the golden berry on that, and I don't think I need to explain why I really wanna try and 100% the game, but that one stupid berry has really put a damper on that idea for me
For the "this section is being completed as intended" bit, I always used the pufferfish to bounce me to the right before I grabbed the feather, so it's out of the way when you go left.
At 14:30 what makes you be launched further than normal is pressing the directional during the explosion. It happens when pressing left or right, which is annoying because you may still be adjusting mid air when it triggers. It took me a while to realise.
14:21 puffer boosts happen when you hit a puffer while you’re holding the same direction you’re about to go. So like if you hit the right side of a puffer while holding a right input, you’re gonna get launched to the right even further. This also happens with the pinball things from chapter 6. Mitigate this by not holding any direction input OR holding the opposite direction to slow you down in the air. It feels random because by this point in the game you’re so used to holding down directions that you don’t even think about it anymore, you just go
@@mintmuffled its a surprisingly tight window to get the fish boost. definitely is real and consistent though there are modded maps with rooms entirely based around this mechanic

Wavedashes particularly only refer to the technique of beginning in the air, dashing towards the ground, and jumping before the dash ends or within a five frame window after it ends and regaining your dash in the process.

I'm a bit late but this is super impressive! I've gotten the Moonberry like yesterday with at least 180 hours in noth vanilla and modded Celeste because I was too scared to attempt it lol. 60 hours to 100% the game is fucking impressive. You'd be great at some of the mods you get through Olympus! (Strawberry Jam and Spring Collab 2020 are amazing try them out man)
I really like Celeste, but there is another great platformer that I know of, it's called The End is Nigh. It was made by the same person who made the Binding of Isaac and Super Meatboy. It's a really fun and challenging platformer, but man I think it is impossible to get all achievements in. Some of the achievements are so insane you have to be a professional speedrunner or invest thousands of hours in the game to perfect your skills. Anyways, if you are looking for a challenging platformer, and don't mind not getting all the achievements, I really recommend this game :D GG btw for getting Farewell, it's a lovely chapter!
After farewell i had tendon pain for 3 days I have sworn to never do something like this again Farewell my a** i am too old for this 10/10 game would recommend to hardcore platforms players

Last year I also beat pretty much everything in celeste besides farewell for some reason I just didnt have time for it really, this week I came back to the game and I am currently rebeating it. Im really excited for this chapter but also afraid😵💫
Eyy glad you liked it! It took a lot of work and I’m happy with how it turned out. You got it brother. You’ll most likely get stuck on a few parts too, but it’s very doable.
@@mintmuffled Soo I beat it today, including the moon berry, with a total time of 5 hours and 45 minutes and 1930 deaths. The ice rooms was actually one of the easier rooms for me, but other rooms you didn‘t even mention were super hard for me though. After completing the normal route in Farewell, getting to the moon berry room was so scary for me, I was so shaky because I was so afraid I had to do the whole room again, but it worked out, I got to the checkpoint 1st try!
My friend ended up buying Celeste for me and it easily became one of my favourite games, while we started to play together, I managed to finish the main chapters earlier than him and get to b-side and then c-side, beat all of that while he was still at the b-sides. When I got to Farewell, I was not expecting to struggle with it so much, I got so close over 50 times but still haven’t managed to beat it, while I enjoy it so much it’s so difficult for me.

To put some light on why the puffer pushes you more sometimes: when you are holding away from a pufferfish or a bumper from chpt 6, you get more speed than when you hold towards the puffer/bumper, hope that makes the mechanic more fun!, you can do stuff like dash into it then turn around to get a whole bunch of speed lol!

14:20 it depends on the direction you're facing. If you're facing the pufferfish it doesn't launch you that far and if you're facing away it gives you the extra boost.
Hey, around 14:20 you were wondering why you were getting super boosted by the pufferfish. I can answer that! Short answer: When you hold the direction you're going to get blasted into (for example holding right when you're about to be pushed right), it will push you further in the direction!
Only 7k deaths with all c sides is crazy. But i think i have 5k deaths from acidentally leaving my phone on my keyboard and leaving my celeste running so i just walked down the map for about 4 hours

14:20 it depends on the direction you're facing. If you're facing the pufferfish it doesn't launch you that far and if you're facing away it gives you the extra boost.
are you ever interested in getting into the realm of speedrunning and modding in this game?
Yeah I plan to do both eventually
ayyy we back with another first try
loved watching the livestreams for them (while boinging and wouncing the chat)!
Hey, around 14:20 you were wondering why you were getting super boosted by the pufferfish. I can answer that! Short answer: When you hold the direction you're going to get blasted into (for example holding right when you're about to be pushed right), it will push you further in the direction!
i beat this chapter, after going through the 5 stages of grief and learning the definition of insanity
I also died about 4000 times finishing this chapter! Such a crazy journey.
Only 7k deaths with all c sides is crazy. But i think i have 5k deaths from acidentally leaving my phone on my keyboard and leaving my celeste running so i just walked down the map for about 4 hours
You indeed were making a Celeste vid❤
Title says 4079 deaths, end of vid says 4059.
0:55 I had my volume up at work for this scene 😅😶
super entertaining video gj bro
I'd vote for calling every single speedrun tech a variation of wavedash. Consistency is key! :D
Good vid! It's out of this world 🌎
15:54 “oh shit” matches the music beat 😂
2:31 I went throught this same discovery in my playthrough lol
