I think the video was great and all of that, but you shoul finish farewell without cheats on your next video. It's like the true ending of the game.
I didn't believe I would see the day that windette complimented someone.
Fun fact, the main dev of the game has said that originally you couldn't die after collecting a crystal heart and that she specifically changed it to be that way.

As some who has played and beaten Celeste legit: this is extremely impressive and you should be proud of this. But a a annoying member of the community I am unfortunately obligated to say: You forgot the golden strawberries

Seeing anyone conquer this game is always such a joy as someone who has faced this game's most brutal challenges, the game truly is a different mountain for each player that attempts to climb

I just figured they were useful for that 1up achievement lol, but a lot of people seem to want me to do it. I'll get on it! and chapter 9.

impressive that you did everything legit (except 8A but that's fine) but i do have to say in Steam there are 2 more achievements, beating Farewell and collecting the moon berry, which is going in an alternate path in the final screen of Farewell. Still though, under 8k deaths for a 100% run is pretty damn good.
Yeah I had no idea about the achievement lists being different, but it did seem weird that the achievements didn't deal with chapter 9 at all. I'll do that and golden strawberries (with a twist) in the future.
@@mintmuffledit’s because chapter 9 is actually free dlc that came out years after the rest of the game originally came out. That’s also why chapter 8 feels weird. Ch7 is the end of the main story, and 8 is supposed to be a bonus level after beating the game, but chapter 9’s existence makes 8 feel out of place
@@mintmuffled good luck a lot of the golden strawberries are actual hell, especially farewell because it's like a 1& a half hour -2 hour gauntlet without dying ONCE, also have you ever played ori and the blind forest or will of the wisps,if you love metroidvanias you will love them
@@mintmuffledi should mention even though there's no achievement attached to it and even though you might need a guide if you choose to go for it there's a very special strawberry in the first chapter's story it's golden but you can die as many times as you want, but the catch is that it's only at the end and it's got wings which means it flies away the second you dash so you just need to beat chapter 1 without dashing,good luck
@@natepion8449 very late reply but what are you talking about? Farewell golden is like 20-30 minutes, not almost 2 hours.

21:49 Small correction, that's not a wavedash. Some people assume that that weird ring trail thing means it's a wavedash, but it can mean a lot of (usually very fast) things. This specifically is a wall bounce, aka just a wall kick / wall jump (whatever you prefer to call it) that is performed while dashing (or otherwise moving) upwards.
24:05 Also, this is a hyperdash. The difference is that when doing a wavedash, you jump up before dashing diagonally into the ground, and getting it right gives you your dash back as you jump off. A hyperdash doesn't have that.
There is also even more speed tech you can do like bunny-hops and ultras
you can get your dash back with an extended hyperdash

The last screen is absolutely brutal. I’m currently working my way through beating it. Been playing Farewell off and on for about a year can’t believe I’m finally at the end.

12:01 I cannot stress how hilarious this was for me in particular. Just as he said "It's a penis!", my headphones died, perfectly censoring him.
It felt mildly appealing to see someone else both struggle and not against the exact same things I did. Something close to a week or maybe a bit more went into playing through this game, constantly streaming it for friends on Discord who gave me encouragement whenever I started to get too into my own head. And after unlocking that platinum trophy, I don't know if I've ever felt more accomplished.

@@mintmuffled There’s an optional path for the last screen of Chapter 9; try following the platforms that were hidden in the electricity backwards after you pop the final power box! (go left instead of following the bird)
Well I might just do that in the future. That part looked VERY hard so I’m sure it’ll be a good video.

When they were talking about all achievements with a to c sides and didn't mention neither farewell nor moonberry I was as confused. But tbf the achievements probably were already set after the first release and not as easily expandable on console as they are on steam.
I love how Hollow Knight's music/theme (another great indie game) is playing in the background.

I totally support use of assist mode if you're just not having enough fun to make up for the brutal gameplay. As I've gotten older, I've learned (largely from Celeste's encouragement of Assist Mode and discussions in media) that ultimately, a game's primary purpose is to be fun. If you use Assist Mode in order to improve the gameplay experience for yourself, you're doing it right, even if others opted not to.
I don't understand how you're so calm when playing this game. Failing to collect the crystal heart at the end of that long-ass room in 9C would've sent me into a state of unfathomable rage.
at that point you know you can do it. Just a little polish and it's perfect

I still have 2 achievements left, after beating chapter 9 I have started using assist mode and tutorials to get everything done, I still need to beat the C sides and get all gold strawberries, i have gotten both chapter 1 ones, and found out some weird but cool glitches and text boxes, like in the Mirror Temple chapter B side Theo says something along the lines of, Wait are these canon?, and also talks about how he made the music for the chapter. God I love this game, Im glad I found it on Gamepass

Ngl, im trying to 100% celeste in my free time on the ps4 and it is real hard. Watching you loose your marbles and turn on assist on chapter 8 made me happy cause i considered it so often. I died so much it took me 2 and a half hours but the walkthrough i watched was only 10 minutes. Wild ride.
But it makes me glad that while playing celeste feels wild for me it feels that way for you. Because I get mad, but not at celeste. Because it hands you all the tools you need. And once you figure it out, all it is is trying to press the buttons in the right order to succeed. You know what not to do but sometimes your fingers stray a bit and just make it all the more work.

The "wavedash jumps" are actually called hypers, and a wavedash is a hyper in the air, but you regain the dash similar to an extended hyper, where you hold it for longer to have the dash back and jump to still get the momentum
Congrats on your achievements. Believe me, some people died waaay more than you did (me) I’m still working on the B sides myself, and I’m sorry for those who are saying you didn’t deserve it for using assist mode.

Yeah, people acting like, 'Celeste is SO HARD and brutal, it took me 20 hours and 800 deaths' meanwhile I having 14k deaths in 6B alone. And 250 hours in Steam. And I not finished yet. Some people play games 50x better than others without realizing it.
@@mapron1 omg I'm currently in 6B! My motivation is kinda low rn cause having to drag theo across 5B almost broke me... But yeah seeing this guy finish all the A-sides with less than 100 deaths each was kind of a punch in the gut hahaha

Farewell: Bend down
Only 4-digit deaths for every achievement is actually pretty damn good. My first time through level 3, A-side, was 1500 deaths. I have beaten all the A-sides, and some B-sides, but I still got a ways to go.
21:50, that’s not wavedashing, that’s wallbouncing. There’s also no “correct” way to do any room, your method was just as effective :)
The determination and perseverance showcased by the player as they tackle those challenging achievements is truly admirable

Wow, you have a completely different feeling of difficulty than i do. I liked the wind part, i still absolutely despise oshiro and the chapter 5 monsters (even after having finished the story 20+ times), and i found the summit to get really easy for the last 7 checkpoints (i do struggle a bit with 14 and 17 though)

“Such a tight squeeze” if you think that’s hard, try completing that B-Side with hyper dash on. I wasn’t able to complete it but I got pretty damn far and learned a few things about how dashes work as well
The "I did the thing I did the thing!" on the final room final part of chapter 8 c-side is so relatable.
I did the exact same thing you did at 15:14 and was so upset with myself for not taking my time there.
My friend challenged me to 100% the game, however, he was talking about all the achievements on the Steam version, not the Xbox version. So I ended up spending another 20hrs doing farewell and the moon berry.

It's funny seeing how different people approach the game. Judging by the number of deaths, you struggled WAY less than me with the platforming (I had like 3 to 5 times more deaths than you on everything lmaooo), but I still refuse to turn on assist mode, I pushed through 8A and the collectibles and everything. I'm currently making my way through the B-sides, slowly but surely. The game is kicking my ass but I love it

@@hellboy19991 The moon berry is easy enough because there are checkpoints for the rooms, but if you die before getting to the checkpoint, you’ll have to do the whole giant room again. That happened to me twice. I’m still very mad about it
@@fireice3040 yup, that happened to me twice as well. was a little mad, but i already did it before that anyways, so w/e I can do it again. I also found the moon berry room almost as hard as the long long room.

the pico 8 minigame isn't a 8 bit version of celeste its a recreation of the original celeste game inside a upgraded version of the original celeste game

In 5c you miscalled room 1's Wall Bounce that you learn in 7B a WaveDash that you learn in chapter 9
the C sides make the B sides look like a joke but by the time you are beating C sides you realize oh shit Im like good and if you ever go back to play the main story you crush everything like a boss

Its fine the heart in 8c rejected me too. That nightmare was done fairly the next time I reached that bastard. Good feeling considering I cheated in 7c to get to 8c.
Edit: finally beat 7C, something about methodically memorising moves to intuitive level in 8C happened to useful in 7C too (with significantly more deaths though).
I played and beat this on keyboard. I regret everything about that and I was in about as much pain as trying to play Getting Over It. I am going to be buying a remote before I play it again.

the only issue with assist mode is that as soon as you made it it adds a mark to your save file which never disappears, even if you disable it again

Fun fact: you can use the in game cheats to get all the achievements and platinum trophy on ps4. It makes it 10 times easier but obviously not how its meant to be done.

as someone who 100% celeste (except for all the golden strawberries) i agree that level 8 (core) and it’s corresponding B side SUCK. it feels so unenjoyable.
