Zombie Tools Zakasushi Part 1: The Devil's Letter Opener

  • Zombie Tools, ZT, Zakasushi, Sword, Stuff You Don't Need But Wish You Had
Preparedmind101 had the chance to play with some steel from the PBR-Slaying Madmen of Montana, Zombie Tools. Not wanting to end up on the news, they sent me one of the "small" swords, the Zakasushi. After three weeks of staring at it wondering "How the hell do I review this thing?" I finally said "****-it" and just started cutting and chopping. Not having the meat budget of Cold Steel or the craftiness of Zombie-Go-Boom, I just decided to destroy whatever was around.
While not as jaw dropping as some other videos, the sword remains in my possession, waiting for that ideal opportunity for youtube blade demo and comedic glory....

I actually had my neighbours call the cops on me because I was using a machete to chop the crab grass out of the crack where the concrete of the curb and gutter meets the asphalt of the street. Happily, by the time the reserve "senior patrol" showed up, the machete was hanging up in the garage, and I was holding nothing more threatening than a broom and dustpan. Still, they stopped like 30 feet down the street and I saw them talking on the radio. People and cops have both become so paranoid it's not funny.

Totally cool, you were cracking me up on that one hahah. Wayne Goddard sez that a properly heat treated sword of 5160 will out perform a samurai sword, and he knows. 5160 is one of the toughest steels available.

That crooked-ass piece of nightstand isn’t looking at you funny anymore, is it...? Haha! Excellent slaying, sir. Seemed like the right tool for the job. This whole abusive-testing phenomenon is really firing up the blade smiths... and in turn, firing up the blade testers... a vicious and glorious cycle... Holy hell, that sword is exactly what I would want to re-dead the undead. You’re not going to make it 10 minutes with a crossbow, let alone 10 years... Daryl. You need an indestructible sword! And some sharpening skills. Thanks for helping us all prepare!

A chinese made katana made with spring steel can easily cost 300-400. I think given how durable the ZT products are, it's a bargain.

Oh man chris, you opened up a whole can of worms. All the armchair ninja plebs are out in force today! Awesome review by the way. As a blade maker, I can definitely see the reason these things cost so much. They are made out of a high quality material, they are hand made, not machine pressed like the $50 dollar SLO's most of these guys have, and they are expertly tempered. Check their destruction vid out on their channel where they go all man mode on the Deuce II.
Sure, they aren't historically accurate, but from a company named zombie tools, I doubt they were goin for that. These things ARE absolute tanks. You need to go to absolutely unreasonable lengths to break one of these things. They bend to 90 degrees, they cut like absolute bosses.....I would take one of these over one of those ass traditional made katanas any day.
Also, whoever was calling this thing a wakizashi is insane, this is closer to a full length katana.

Oh baby!! I know this is an old vid Chris, but I'm in the market for a sword, I'm thinking a short sword like this, but not sure. BTW, I love how you begin this vid man, sharing your thoughts of how cool it would be if TWD were our reality & we're the cool kids on the block for already having many dozens of fixed blades. Anyhow man, I'm not 100% sure how TH-cam works in this respect, if you even see comments from 2yo vids or what, but if you do see this, I'd love to get your thoughts on purchasing this vs. the ZT Apokatana - 2" longer handle & 7" longer blade, so 39.5" OAL vs. 30.5 OAL of this Zakasushi. I don't want to get both, & really, the sword I buy will be the one & only sword I buy as I'm an open carry fixed blade guy, but not a sword guy...I just want one, & a good one - aesthetically ba-dass & useable/tough. Give me your advice please - give it to me!! Thanks brother.

What you say at the beginning of this video is so incredibly valid today that is almost premonitory. China does not want the virus investigated and I assume it's not due to the girl scouts selling cookies there if you know what I mean. And the Zombie Tools are the first theme blades that I see that actually work, unlike some other kinda cool looking "zombie blades" or just themed blades that end up being too unwieldy or just not made real use. These on the other hand can for sure take the use and sometimes even abuse.
