Saw this in theaters with my dad. The whole theater jumped and the girl in the row in front of us threw her bucket of popcorn in the air when George got grabbed. Good times. 😁

Not gonna lie. Even past my 30's, I still remember this whenever I'm unclogging a drain.
I hear ya. I also don't shower at night when I'm alone, either, Anon. Not without a gun in the shower with me (sealed in a plastic bag).
I also am cautious around In-Sink-Erators after another horror film (I think it was Poltergeist?) when some poor boy got his arm almost tore off when one such Dispos-All was activated with his hand in it.
I'm glad I was born without private parts. I never use the restroom.
The saddest part is that from the ring on his finger, George was married. Poor guy.
Then that blob did him a favor.

Honestly George had it better than a lot of the people in this movie.
They all get digested alive and are alive for the entire process. George gets his head almost instantly crushed.
Like cmon you're gonna tell me he had it worse than the kid in the sewer?
The Blob is a horrible killer! Almost unstoppable and ruthless!
I mean what’s more worse being digested alive while inside of it or getting digested in the sink or getting digested alive in the sewer,well In my opinion getting digested alive is pretty much the same thing for all three scenes alone.

This film is the perfect horror movie night selection. It’s almost as much a parody as it is a horror film. My wife and I watched it a few years ago and were absolutely enthralled the whole time. Love how people you think are going to be the main characters keep dying.

This was the first clip i saw from the blob and as soon as the scene ended i looked back at my sink and i heard some noise, now i know it was the sink getting clogged at that time i didn't knew, but when it started to make noise i imedtiately went outside and was scared to come inside. Man those times were the worst for me as a kid

Look, The Thing (1982) is amazing body horror, but this film is a notch above. I legitimately have trouble sleeping or getting too close to drains after watching.

@@robertveith6383 strongly agree the actors acted like regular people not stupid Hollywood stars and the paranoia was top notch and the loss of trust in one another, in the blob you see what the monster is and try to survive, whilst in the thing who IS the monster? That's why the thing is the best horror movie
I was way too young when I watched this and it rendered me absolutely terrified of industrial sinks for years.
well, it is just a movie there is no real blob in those sins drains that will come out and get you so do not be frightened mind you if there was you home sin would be just as scary as the industrial ones for a blob coming out of it to get you.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can we just take a second to congratulate whoever the sink manufacturers were. Sink so strong it can crush a human head brute forcing it's way in.
Well, to be fair, the blob most likely sucked and digested and softened poor George’s skull to the point that it mushed in there pretty easily (which is pretty effin horrid to think about).
It even made its way through the S bend without rupturing
Can you imagine if they used PVC piping for that sink? The blob would have not gotten up to the drain before busting through to the floor.

Funny story. I went to rent the old b&w one when I was twelve. Got this one without realizing it was a remake of the old one. Didn’t get past the hospital scene. Scared the shit out of me. 😂
hahaha right? I spent the night at a friends house and he convinced his mom to rent this for us. I had no idea what we were in for and it was absolutely terrifying. I don’t think I slept the entire night and when my mom picked me up in the morning she said I looked like I hadn’t slept at all.

I always remember this scene as an unintended PSA for Drain cleaner safety as a lot of them are acid and sometimes can violently back flow and if you're looking down the drain at the wrong time...
I remember seeing a woman on a daytime talk show whose face had been burned horrifically from an acidic drain cleaner, backing up, and then violently expelling from the drain
@@chrisdonahue524 I know someone that actually happened to. It was a customer at the hardware store I worked for at the time. He looked down the drain and... The thing is sadly I sold him the drain opener a week before and warned him to read the label...he did not. He survived but acid/alkaline burns are no joke.
Got to fair these type of horror scenes from the 80s are far more freaky than the modern day stuff

One of the few movies that gets to me even now.
The deaths were so inventive and gruesome back in 1988 and I was so young it left an imprint on me that I will never shake. I’m 43 and while I can watch the movie fine these days I still retain the memories of these kills on my first watch.
Years ago, I lent my region 1 DVD to my best friend who hadn’t seen it in a long time and he freaked out at this scene because he had no recollection of George being pulled down head first.

I just checked, and i knew it! George is that Colonel that was sent to Atlantis in the Season 1 final of Stargate Atlantis! Got chewed by a Wraith half to death there too.
Seeing his foot and sketcher shaking had me crying laughing
as a child I had unrestricted access to superchannel. I watched things no 5 year old should have seen. This movie was one of them.
It manages to be silly and cartoonish while also being deeply disturbing and fucked up at the same time.

This version of the blob was absolutely fking terrifying. The scene where the blob had a girl trapped in a phone booth screaming as she saw smearing up against the window a decaying body within the blob, was so fked up, that it would give Stephen King nightmares.

I don't know if anybody recognizes the actress who played George's friend from the restaurant but she also appeared in the movie q the winged servant as well as the horror film amityville 3D where her charecter also died both Meg Ryan and Lori Laughlin also appear in that this was before Lori did full house and was way before that whole cheating scandle

I was 6 years old when I watched this at my friends house. His older brother rented it out at the VCR cassette rental shop, “global video” I think it was called the shop. I was horrified at this part because to me back then it looked real, obviously things have moved on quite a bit since then. Most movies aren’t practical effects anymore and this would be done with CGI today. I’m 42 now so this really takes me back. I was 6 years old watching an 18 year old rated movie…

This is probably one of the most gruesome ways to go, ever! Even if they die quickly, before actually getting pulled through a tiny opening, it’s still really sickening! Only way it’s worse is like in deep rising, when the woman gets pulled down the toilet butt first, so she’s alive and feeling it, maybe until her head goes down, last…..even though it was just like a second long, ewwww!

One of the best creature festures of all time. Anyone else ever wonder what senses the blob uses since it doesn't have eyes? I've always figured infrared plus vibration sense? So if you were wearing a cold suit and stayed absolutely still would it go right past you? Would anyone be willing to risk testing that out? Kind of a terrifying prospect.

The special effects stand up for the most part. Only the stop motion scenes at the end fail, but they're still enjoyable.
On the bright side, it killed him before the bit of it he touched could start dissolving his hand. There are a couple examples later on that shows just what brief contact with it can do to flesh.
