  • Had a chance to take a couple of these snakes that was released at ICAST 2018 to do some bass fishing on my SUP. I was quite surprised how aggressive these bass wear attacking the snake.

      Honestly, I had my doubts but the 8" snake catches bass like no other.

    Dude, what a great moment fishing that Savage Gear Snake!
    I have a bunch of them and just got ice off the water sources up here in New Hampshire.....but I've been throwing mine and looking at the action just knowing they are going to get smashed!
    I just looked up some bass catch videos on it, and saw yours first. Didn't disappoint! Interesting you chose that type of "pop reel" technique, instead of just steady retrieve with minimal pops. I love how subjective fishing is, and how we can all learn from each other. Great job here!

      Thanks man... love the snake lure. I retrieve both ways... some times the steady retrieve works better... other time the intermittent popping gets them to commit better. I do what the fish wants me to do. lol .... good luck with the fishing.. lmk how you do.!

    Just a little word of advice to everyone who reads this comment when you catch a fish with treble hooks do not put your hands in his mouth to land him because once That fish starts to shake those treble hooks will pop out of his mouth and go straight in your fingers I had to find that out the hard way. nice video

    Looks like an effective top water lure! Which one do you prefer, the 8 or 12”? I’m thinking of purchasing one🤔🎣

    • @samroot
      @samroot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely the 8" ... works pretty good the 12" is probably more for like pike and muskie.

    I can't help but feel like people who use baitcasters are always super hectic with their gear.

    • @samroot
      @samroot  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use to be anti bait caster until I started to use heavier line and lure. It just works better. Salt water especially inshore light lures I'm 100% spin.

    • @Heineken1712
      @Heineken1712 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samroot Hehe I have a friend who tried to go form spin to baitcaster but he can't get used to it. I constantly see him untangling his line. But I was wondering why BC fishing is so hectic. I never tried it. Is it faster to handle? Or is there competitive fishing where it is necessary to be quick with the baitcaster?

      @@samroot the gear looks pretty cool btw.

    • @samroot
      @samroot  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Heineken1712 he needs to use a heavier lure and then balance it. Those bass guys has like 20 combo with different lures so they don't have to rebalance Everytime to hey change lures which means more time to fish for the $$$.

      Often a bass will be triggered to eat by reaction. It’s in their nature to just eat…everything!
      You hear these guys in these videos talking about triggering a reaction bite. Any lure can/will do it. Just put it in the right spot at the right time and set the hook

    Never seen these -- very cool. Is this the 8" or 12" and any specific color? Thanks!

    • @samroot
      @samroot  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find the 8' works best for bass. The larger ones I'm assuming it's for pike fishing.

    Whats a wake bait?

    • @samroot
      @samroot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It makes a small wake near the surface. Like a low riding topwater lure.
