I went night fishing and a small bat flew into my line and got tangled. I didn’t know until it was within 5 feet so I pretty much had a real life version of that lure dragging through the water. The bat lived 👍
I was at a pier near Cleveland night fishing for walleye. one of the old timer bucket guys caught a bat as well. I'm not sure how but it was actually hooked into the lure. we think it attacked his lure as it hit the water but it was dark so no way to know for.sure. when he reeled in that bat we were all freaking out lol his flew off when unhooked but not sure if he lived.
I used to live with a girl that had two very large Oscar fish in a 36 gallon aquarium. One night we were watching a movie, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a mouse crawling along the top of the open aquarium. (It was a very old open house on the beach in Maui. Good luck not having a mouse in the house once in a while) but right when I said, "check out that mouse" the female Oscar jumped up, and tail slapped the mouse into the water, and swallowed it whole. Was unexpected entertainment. Started catching mice once in a while, just to feed to the fish. The Oscars were roughly 2.5 lbs,and the mice were 2.5-4 inches. I'd imagine a full grown bass would probably try to eat a full grown rat if given the chance.
Amazing video fellas. A great perspective on what these lures really look like to the fish, and I'm sure will help a lot of people in making decisions about lure selection.
What really makes a good artificial lure great? Price, versatility, simplicity, lure action, durability and availability; most of all is fish bite them. All of the lures you showcased certainly could catch fish; however, most are novelties that have been made before. It seems if you make a new lure someone will buy them; that is the idea manufactures depend on.
I came out with my own prototype Dragon fly lures back in the early 2000s. I was in jr.high during 9/11. I never got it off the ground with a company or sponsor etc. Nobody had a design for them. Not Cabelas, Bass pro or in fisherman magazine etc. No one. I had fun using my own and trying to figure out what better materials to use. I'll never forget & neither will my father.
Great video. The way you break them down was awesome. I looked at the spider bait like something I would never buy, know I want a few and try that tree limb trick. Now that I think about it a huge Brown would love a mouse bait. Opened my eyes up thanks!
I really liked this video and have had some success on most of the baits on here. Even if a regular old frog would catch the same or more fish it’s always fun to throw new baits and maybe sometimes the extra size or new look could prove to be the difference.
I have the baby beetle, it skips nicely when placed well, other times as it skips it hits the dock and have start all over again. The bigger brother to the beetle is twice the size of the baby beetle, same action but slightly more heavier in weight, probably a decent weedless pike bait or bass. There aren’t many Supernato beetle YT videos which IMO sucks for us that are trying to learn and grow as an angler via YT. I’ve caught a biggun Largie on the Livetarget field mouse before, fun times. Lunkerhunt also has a weedless baby muskrat topwater lure with rubber skirt for legs, haven’t tried it out (I don’t have it).
Oh an Lunker hunt wasn't the first either. There was a small company that made a floating lillypad lure with a dragon fly that dangled over the water. You would leave it out in hopes a vass would cruise by and jump at it landing you dinner.
5:15 i have fished with the exact same mouse bait for years except its grey and the hooks are starting from the belly and end on the beguining of the back, pike have tried to get it but none have really gotten hooked, i personaly dont recommend it but if you want to have a bunch of goofy baits go for it. plus it casts really well since its aerodynamic
With that loon you're going to be happier using the extension on the TOP hook attachment point and letting that hook trail 1 1/2 inches behind the bait. Depending on what you're dragging it through you can attach the front hook. I usually leave the front hook off just because it's a muck magnet.
@@Labradorslobber People laugh when I say finesse topwater so thank you! The dragonfly is deadly in thick pads here. Fish the edge or a hole. Small twitches and the wings have good action. Only problem is I’d go broke fishing them all year. I only use on calm days or areas
The spider lire is amazing I just threw the line and right when it landed a huge bass seam right to it you could see the wave of the bass thing was fast but the others I don’t know yet
From what I've heard the spider works really good . People use them a lot for smallies up here in Minnesota. I have one but I never throw it cause I always hated how it looks. I felt like it was sinking and seeing it tells me I was right.
It does sink pretty easily. It would be cool to throw with a medium spinning setup on a small creek or river but I think a regular frog works better in every situation.
If you want a good mouse or rat bait go check out the g-rat baits Magic Mouse. Also another weird bait that works well for a bunch of different fish is the monka lure works crawler.
4 of my top 5 pb have been caught on the field mouse. All 4 of them in the middle of winter fishing it very slow. My pb was caught on a orange chatterbait in a 1acre pond. 8lb10oz
@@Wired2Fish My bro lives up in the Kawarthas and had his rod broken last year fighting a pike on a LiveTarget mouse, so that's pretty close. Haven't had any pike on rats myself, but a jointed swimbait/wakebait does wonders. Fav is the Rapala waking minnow in yellow perch.
What a great video. I just so happened to buy the Live Target field mouse today. And I was thinking about taking it back. But after watching this video i think I'm going to give it a chance.
We need more videos like this with underwater footage!!
Okay... This man has to be an EX-Seal... I have never run into someone this calm, has intel, and facts to back it all. Outstanding video.
Haha, close, Delta Force actually! Appreciate the comment.
@@Wired2Fish I knew it!!!!!! KEEP THE CONTENT COMING.

You never know when the next weird bait will become the next bandito bug..
Loved this video! “The baby loon bite”!
Rat's & Mouse Imitation works great for Pike, Floating Bug's are Troutkillerbaits in Sommer in small creeks.
We agree, Mr. Redfin!
The rat does wonders especially in the post spawn
Big sub-surface profile for sure when the bass pull off and the gills come in. They (bass) start lookin for those big easy meals to recuperate.

Browns love those mice. Could be fun at night in a grassy river! Thanks for checking out the video!
That spider works really well.
I missed one of the biggest smallies I've ever seen on that dragonfly.

Thanks a lot Chris. It’s fun to try new goofy things and see if you can get bit on them.
Wow cool idea for a video nice change of pace
Those are some weird baits for sure.
Yak, yak, yak, the channel is called Wired2fish, so fish those crazy lures for us!!

Thank you for this video , I will be testing the duck and bat in some major pike water next week!
The red dragonfly got me my pb largemouth. My rule of thumb is throwing it by pads and under trees
Thats awesome, Josh!

Trout looks phenomenal!
It doesn't even have to do anything else besides look good!
swims nice and slow sinking good hooks comparable to the bull gills in stores, works well on the line and doesn’t feel cheap and the colors are great
I've caught farm pond bass In East TN on the bat. One was under 2 pounds. People underestimate what a LARGEMOUTH bass will eat. Big and small.
Yeah they do eat the darnedest things with that vacuum mouth!
I have never seen or heard of a lure anything like that dead trout thing.
I love strange baits. I have several of those. Can't say that I've had success with all of them though

I had the smaller version of the savage gear bat and the bass absolutely destroyed up here in the northern NY!
Good point! There is a smaller version. Glad you got smoked on it.
This looks good!

Good call! I can see that top hook extension being a better option.
I’ve caught snakeheads on the dragonfly one. They love dragonfly’s
For real!? That’s cool.
Wired2Fish yeah they target dragonflys where I fish in Maryland. That bait is like finesse topwater. I like it. Bass seem to dig it too.

Nice stormy korner
She's bullet proof!
I have the lunker hunt buzz type frog had a lot of hirs but not many hook ups.
Very well presented!
Thanks much, Kam Arte. Hope you enjoyed it!
Yall should do a followup of testing these and trying to catch some on them
That’s the plan. Ran out of time shooting this one but the blow-ups and mouse fish were on location while filming!

That's fascinating Greg! What's the make and model of the mouse? Big bass apparently can't resist a warm-blooded morsel in the cold water of winter.
@@Wired2Fish Koppers Live Target Field Mouse.
How cool would it be to catch a Mondo on that 15inch trout!!
Be so nuts just watching and waiting.
That diving rat looks awesome. Smallmouth nail rat baits up here in Canada.
Thats awesome! Have you gotten any big pike to swat at it as well and do you use a smaller size for Smallmouth??

In my hometown the dragonfly works great can’t say anything but good things about it
Thats awesome- Bass certainly eat dragonflies!
Would love to have a mini Freddy the frog
Cool
Also I've crushed pike on that bat.
Might lose the dead fish one to an eagle. Would also be attractive to turtles.
We thought of that too. Seems risky.. Thanks for the comment-
that rat looks great.
Real nice shimmy on that bait for sure!
Had a spider bait. Someone stole it
A big bass, we hope 😳.
Your lack of a weed demon is disturbing
Part 2??
you can try squid lures...
I wish I had that lure
Which one??!
I bought the bat today we will see how it does
Let us know! Wicked blow ups. Moves a lot of water.
The turtle and dragon fly anit that weird
Them spiders work like a mfer
point of interest the web comes out the back end of a spider,
God this giy put me to sleep, no excitement wat so ever😴😴😴😴😴😴
