The BBC must be due to knock on your door any time soon Pat. You have amassed an incredible amount of such excellent videos detailing the life and times of Bangkok. Hi Pat, I walked this route a couple of weeks after the video. I met a few foreign travellers, a young couple from Reading UK, a middle-aged couple from both sides of the pond, I walked along Kao San Road at 11 in the morning and discovered a nice area to have lunch called Saphan Han and Klong Rob Krung. Thanks for inspiring me to get off my arse!

Loved those old photo's of Bang Lamphu. Amazing. Will definitely try to do this walk along these Khlongs myself someday - so much to see. Perhaps starting early morning before the heat. Warm thanks for the inspiration.
This video is the closest one to be able to conjure up a "Venice of the East" right at our doorstep! Great job, which makes Bangkok look gorgeous in natural lights and that's no mean feat! To use a metaphor, it's like dragging a bar girl out of the bar and photograph her in natural light and make her look gorgeous...tough luck.
just back from a 4 weeks trip to Bkk. This time i used the boats and trains around the city because of your videos. Not scary, very easy and fast. You also showed earlier the Origin project in Bang Kapi and we bought a condo there. So if you update Origin and train situation i wouldn't mind :) You should work for TAT or some public info thing. Nice vlog Pat, its a nice reminder that you can get around Bangkok using the Klongs even though some have stopped the service. Its good to see the small stalls emerging now along the banks & can see they will use this as an asset to be looked after & perhaps restore some of the boat services. They are so much cheaper to get around than using the Tuk Tuks or Taxis, which i found when low on Baht, & to me they were more interesting views along the canals. Look forward to the next instalment.

Thanks a lot Khun Pat for The Canal highlights (incl. Trem footage) in Krung Thep .. In North Jakarta, we have similar bridge like Saphan Hok Bridge built during Dutch time when Jakarta, Indonesia was called Batavia (Betawi) .. I presume it was around 1860/1870. Maybe you do know that King Chulalongkorn visited Indonesia at that time during Dutch colonial time as well, twice during his reigning time 🙂... the King gave a miniature Elephant statue which is still standing at Museum Gajah (elephant) now in Central Jakarta.
