Hey @@nafisforkan5188! Thanks for the feedback. Teal's Resume Builder mimics the ATS and parsing, typically columns don't parse well or translate into systems, which is why we don't currently offer it as a templated format. Likely the system is having trouble reading your resume due to the columns and having difficulty evaluating it. We're also currently working on a better ingestion engine to help mitigate these issues with resume formats that may not parse into systems well.

I'm a fresh graduate from STEM field. It seems difficult to put quantifiable metrics in my points and when I tried, it always sound like I'm sugarcoating them
I used teal and uploaded a resume with various columns made on canvas with one of the templates. Teal could not tell the difference between the columns and assumed everything on the same horizontal was attached to each other. This made the suggested resume they gave very poorly constructed with the information being all messed up. Also, it did not understand I was a student and put more than just directed relevant information on my resume and made my resume go into another field even tho the provided resume was very clear on the job title.
Here's one for you, Jeff: I have a non-Anglo name that is hard to pronounce for most people. Also, is it normal or bad if one section continues in the second page (for example: projects) as a student?
So I am in a junior position and don't really have any metrics. My job consists of some client asking for a report and then I write that report in SQL, or they want me to create something to show the inventory, or create some type of automation. The idea of metrics is a problem when you're whole job consists of just doing tickets
How many tickets did you resolve? How much 5 star feedback did you receive? How many complaints did you receive? How many tickets did you resolve at the start of your time at that job compared to towards the end of your tenure? How quickly did you resolve tickets on average? They love quantifiables. Make it look good.
Jeff, very impressive and helpful video. My question is that most JD only lists the responsibilities, duties, requirements and our resume should match those duties and requirements. If we wrote our resumes with numbers about (how long, how many, how often ...), then it will not match the JD. How can we combine both matching JD and having numbers (Impacts in the resume) ?
Is it okay to put the peecentage just by guessing where we couldnt find the exact percentages? What will happen if the recruiter asked, how you calculate that percentage?
You should probably know how to calculate that percentage haha. If my newsletters had a 3% open rate, I should be able to tell them I sent 1000 emails and 30 people clicked into the email 😁
@@JeffSu its easy to calculate some professions, but not some. I'm a Civil engineer and in most of the my career I worked on the consultant engineers role. So can you guide me one example bullet point with percentages?
@@JeffSu most of the examples were from marketing field. Can you give one for consultant civil engineer who is not responsible for construction but the supervision.
I cant understand why to avoid things like supervised, performed or managed. From my understanding and businesses i worked in i needed to be competent, to carry out such activities, no one cares that you flopped one thing and it resulted in success, where you are completely incompetent in everything else... maybe thats why, its so hard to find competent ppl these days. or maybe its some kind of language misunderstanding by me. I dont get that i need to brag that i achieved like 50 meaningful objectives ( jest a few: doubled revenue, increased organic traffic by 40%, gain rankings for thousands of keywords against competition) instead of summing them up like managed growth, carried out redesign or improved UX.
It's one of the most important measurements for brands around the world 😂. You can google "how to measure brand awareness" and you'll see metrics like "+5% positive perception"
@@JeffSu I meant if I'm showing self employed saying I was doing B2B marketing, but right now I'm looking for data analyst jobs. I studied MSc Business Analysis and Consulting and also have powerbi, etc knowledge.
My struggles is that a person applies for 400+ jobs, get on average about 40 interviews, but only get 2-5 offers. Where is the disconnect? What’s missing?
Just wow!!!!!!🥹🥹 you have no idea how stuck I felt at my job and needed a better way to mention my impacts in a quantifiable manner! Story grateful for your work, and a very happy birthday (belated) 🎉❤

What should we say when the interviewer would ask us where we got those numbers? and how would we answer that? just a thought
I mean you shouldn't make it up...
who needs a teacher when they got YOUUUU!!!!!!!!
AGREED
So I am in a junior position and don't really have any metrics. My job consists of some client asking for a report and then I write that report in SQL, or they want me to create something to show the inventory, or create some type of automation. The idea of metrics is a problem when you're whole job consists of just doing tickets
Resolved X number of tickets every week.... 😅
Or just use my ChatGPT prompt
Use keywords + quantifiable metrics
@@JeffSu Thank you for your prompt response. If you can add this one into the video and give a couple of examples , that will be great.
@@sandrahu7122 I already have videos on that topic :D
not all achievements need to be quantified in %s, there are so many ways to provide metrics wo a %
Oh for sure! I think I gave other examples too right? Like "I hosted 12 lunch and learns..."
I was creating a resume right now and got this notifications
Must be fate 😉
Hi my idol Jeff ! Please can you provide me the website where you bought your cloths? Ik my question is kinda weird, but sorry I liked your style
Hahaha I shop from random stores on Taobao 😂
I like that shirt you have on in this. Where is that from?
Is it okay to put the peecentage just by guessing where we couldnt find the exact percentages? What will happen if the recruiter asked, how you calculate that percentage?
You should probably know how to calculate that percentage haha. If my newsletters had a 3% open rate, I should be able to tell them I sent 1000 emails and 30 people clicked into the email 😁
@@JeffSu its easy to calculate some professions, but not some. I'm a Civil engineer and in most of the my career I worked on the consultant engineers role. So can you guide me one example bullet point with percentages?
@@hasithasandaruwanvidanapat1876 there are examples in this video and my other resume videos with percentages 😁
Great points! I would add that you can sum them up with metrics as well 😁
jeff why you using the slack notification tune at the starting, I got confused that my manager just pinged me.
😂 just to keep you on your toes
Awesome 👍
Thank you 😁
How would you create a resume with no experience?
Draw from your experiences in school/classroom
I'm in a design role where my role is very interpretive and creative. I don't have metrics, what do I do there?
I literally give you a prompt for you to find metrics. Metrics exist for every single role in the world my friend 😁
How is "increasing brand awareness" a measurement?
It's one of the most important measurements for brands around the world 😂.
You can google "how to measure brand awareness" and you'll see metrics like "+5% positive perception"
"My process optimization led to US$ 10 million in cost savings" 😂😂😂
😂
do you offer services for resume writing if I provide you with mine ?
Unfortunately I don't!
Is including self employed for around 5 years legit to mention in the CV?
Yes of course!
@@JeffSu won't that be considered as negative by employers? Like what if I am looking for data analyst jobs now.
Why would that be negative? Highlight transferable skills!@@jenilgala9019
@@JeffSu I meant if I'm showing self employed saying I was doing B2B marketing, but right now I'm looking for data analyst jobs. I studied MSc Business Analysis and Consulting and also have powerbi, etc knowledge.
Is it okay for UK jobs?
The same logic applies!
where can i copy the the chat GPT prompt ?
In the description 😁
How is it free? It wants me to select a paid monthly subscription
Um...what? I think you're clicking on the wrong link
Idk i spent 2 weeks studyng analitical shi and i never really got teached anything, ok let's not starting with telling you are good but thanks m8
No problem!
I trust him cuz he’s Asian❤
Cool thanks
🎉🎉🎉🎉
😁😁
My struggles is that a person applies for 400+ jobs, get on average about 40 interviews, but only get 2-5 offers. Where is the disconnect? What’s missing?
But...you only need 1 offer ,😂 so that's a HUGE success case right there!!
Depending on your industry, although it is a numbers game you need to start tailoring your resume (a little bit) and cover letters for each job.
👏👏👏
Thank you 😁
you talk so fast and you sometimes make information complicated please to consider these poinsts in your next videos
Thanks for the feedback 😁
Can y'all just appreciate how splendid Jeff's wardrobe is? #mcm 🤣
Hahahaha thank you so much 😁
You’re the goat bro!!
Thank you!!
Just wow!!!!!!🥹🥹 you have no idea how stuck I felt at my job and needed a better way to mention my impacts in a quantifiable manner! Story grateful for your work, and a very happy birthday (belated) 🎉❤
No problem at all and THANK YOU 😁
