No “tall tales” here…. Joe David has been a friend of the family for years!!! I’ve heard these same stories from him numerous times and I never get tired of talking to him about the truck. You guys hit a home run interviewing this man! Great video!
i worked for a company in Decatur, Tx that built Paccar, Peterbilt , and bus parts. One day management came to me saying we are going to start building sleepers for Marmon trucks and you are going to oversee it. I welded frames for all 3 sleeper sizes but i solely welded the stand up sleepers. I also had a commercial license and sometimes got asked to deliver and go to our Tennessee plant. My first delivery to Marmon in Garland, Tx i couldn’t believe it. Several quonset huts is all i saw and thats where trucks were built, hand made at that.
Man !! Thank you guys for this video !! Ive always loved Marmons when i was a teen. Dreamed about owning one i got out the Marines in '92. I got a chance to finally get in one 1997. Just loved that truck !!
My dad tried to work a deal on one in around 1989-90. It was a cherry red 60" flat top in Reading Pa. The deal never came together and he ended up buying an anteater Kenworth. I was 15 at the time and still remember seeing it and hoping so much for my dad to get the deal.
I drove a Marmon between 1987 & 91 mine had a 100 mph speedo and it saw triple digits often, that baby rolled down the road like glass. One of the best trucks I have ever driven over the years.

Back in late 60s I got a chance to drive a White Western Star. I was driving about 3 Am hauling 50 ton of liquid on the 401. I was told that it was very fast because they had to put a lot bigger tire on the back of the truck to get the liquid to the back of the trailer to the pump. With a Cummings engine and 13 speed trans I put my foot down on the gas pedal and watch the speedometer. I let off at 110mph but it was still climbing. I shut it down back to 60 mph. That was some kind of a ride
At one time when I first started driving I thought how cool it would be to run over 100 mph in a truck but today where in the hell can you run that fast with the potential dangers? Any cat mechanics care to comment about the springs he’s referring to? I wish you guys would’ve brought the nose over because I wanted to see if it was ECM or mechanical. If it was mechanical, then the springs are you referring to could have been in the automatic timing, advance or the torque springs in the mechanical pump. This also could have meant that the factory installed a mechanical version of the 3406B, which would have been unusual for 1996. But possible with Marmon.
It was a governor spring probably a 3% droop spring out of a fire pump engine, Cat never made a racing engine that I'm aware of as there were no racing series that they could be built for

My 900a with kta525 with 793 to rear tires would take a load of logs to over 100 mph no problem , but running bobtail at silver state classic legal road race from interstate 80 battle mountain nevada to austin nevada 86 miles it had pressed to pull120 mph down hill yes - up hill no .
I had a friend that had one built in 94 and it would run over 120mph I owned a 91 379 Pete turned wide open and he could out run me so I know it’s true plus he also had a video of the truck get built
they where every bit capable of reaching speeds of 120 or better,, but you had to have a knowledgeable cat mechanic,, manifold pressure , fuel pressure , all had to come together
Bruce Mallinson at Pittsburgh Power used a Marmon as a testbed for a lot of the innovations he came out with for the 855 Cummins. They can be fast for sure. I really doubt 120 is possible though on level ground. The speedometer and even the tach might have said it but that don't mean much. The cd is poor and the frontal area is massive - so I really doubt even 2000 hp would be able to overcome it. Now, if you did some aero tricks who knows? Maybe a lot more than 120! What was Tyrone Malone running? And unfortunately it doesn't pay to build stuff right. Marmon is out of that business. It almost seems like every business has learned that and therefore quality these days is severely lacking.

Waking up every 14th of each month to $210,000 it's a blessing to I and my family... Big gratitude to Ann Marie strunk🙌🏼
Hello, I am very interested. As you know, there are tons of investments out there and without solid knowledge, I can't decide what is best. Can you explain further how you invest and earn?
Same, I operate a wide- range of Investments with help from My Financial Adviser. My advice is to get a professional who will help you, plan and enhance your management skills. For the record, working with Ann Marie strunk, has been an amazing experience.
Hello how do you make such monthly?? I'm a born Christian and sometimes I feel so down of myself because of low finance but I still believe in God
I'm favoured, $90K every week! I can now give back to the locals in my community and also support God's work and the church. God bless America,, all thanks to Ms Ann Marie strunk😊
I drive a 2019 Cascadia it won't do that with the side door. I know that for a fact. Because I tried it after watching the video.

Sexy truck
I just love it
I am very curious as to how high it would be revvin to hit a buck 20 with 3.55 gears & a 15 over..?
My Pop's 81 Pete had an A model Cat, 15 over & 3.90's and topped out at 72mph at 2100 revs
That sound s realistic
