The 359 Gliders are amazing. I am sure they are worth more money by not being a road ready truck. They must have quite a story as to why they were not built. Very unique truck history.
The best one there is the grey 379 with the black fenders pullin the step deck imo. Simple and clean work truck but you actually looks in-depth at it there is a crazy amount of small details and it works damn near everyday
Here in Utah there are ALOT of Tranfers running up and down our Freeways. There are numerous Constuction companies that run them and some smaller companies as well...
Truly Beautiful Rigs, I sure wish I had got into the Business. My dad started a company with his name and Son (yeah supposed to be Me) yet I screwed up my license back in those days so it never happened
Yes, they run them here in NY. The draw tong on these Double Dump trucks is designed so that they can be back in and dump truck and the trailer without unhooking the trailer just by jackknifing it .
Wrong. Those are called transfers. They dump the truck, then transfer the trailer box into the truck box, then dump the trailer box. Look at how the trailer doesn't have a hydraulic cylinder.
@@nathanwoodward8877 OK so they are not the same as we have here then because the trailer dumps on its own you just jackknife it and dump the truck and it dumps over the tong
Great video Tommy. Beautiful Trucks. I have a question money no object. Would it be possible to take a 78" sleeper from a 389 and make it a flat top. So you'll have a 78" flat top Pete?
Hello, great videos, so the dump, you call it double dump, actually they call them transfers, the back box rolls into the front box then you go dump it, born race California yes I've done this, the pretty cool, even come back it up around the corner, which is very unique, not a whole lot of people can back up a truck and a trailer
The heavy haul trailers looked similar but with a 16 tire in CA the state recognizes the tires as more tire more weight and our bridge laws will allow us 60,000lbs on that 16 tire with the expando pushed out to a 10ft wide grouping, a flip of the air valve will spread those tires right dead nuts center and turn that entire rear section into a 10ft wide section if you’re standing at the back of the trailer and looking back it expands right at the tires then the island that separates the 6ft spread between 4 and 5 to the trail lights all of that expands from 8’6 to 10’ wide, for the extra weight when needed. Then you build your heavy haul with the right ale spacing 6ft spread and big ref ends with a big front end you can put 46,500 on the drives 20k on the steering so in CA we can run around town legally hauling 127,000lbs or a CAT D8R with the blade and rippers attached no problem. We also go will track the machines right over the back of the trailers all day everyday, detaching the necks al the time is to much work and we ain’t got no time for all that nonsense around here we’ve got waves to catch and woke Jack asses to try and keep pissed off yelling at everyone. Its nice to see some west coast shine up on the channel
You all done a good job except you skipped the best looking combo down there in my opinion, J.C. Alt's 362 cabover and trailer. It was light brown and dark brown.
I think you need some education on the transfer dump trucks and, low boy trailers. They are everywhere out here in, California. I used to pull low boy trailers, myself. All three of those original gliders belong to the same person. They have a chrome shop in Arizona. The blue 359 was repainted.
The Cali dumps are transfer dumps. They dump the truck then slide the trailer's box into the truck and dump it.
Yup, and very popular in NorCal
Yep. They're everywhere out here.
They are all over the place in California
Tax that az
Yep Cali runs them as well Not just TX bro 🤣🤣🤣

The 359 Gliders are amazing. I am sure they are worth more money by not being a road ready truck. They must have quite a story as to why they were not built. Very unique truck history.

Nebraska has 3 axle- tandem dump trucks with a trailer dump pubs with 3 axle - tandems underneath and a solid tongue no steering on the front wheels.

Texas is the custom semi captial. Every where you go theres a slammed peterbuilt with an extended frame just cruising around.
They are transfer trucks all over CA AZ and most of the Southwest. Rear trailer slides into front to be emptied.
Here in Utah there are ALOT of Tranfers running up and down our Freeways. There are numerous Constuction companies that run them and some smaller companies as well...

We have tri-axle dump trucks with tri-axle pup trailers all over Canada 🇨🇦
We also gross 140 000 LBS with that.
Dump truck and transfer is what we call it out in Cali. See the all the time. A standard out west.
Those 3 Gliders are probably the most expensive rigs outta all of them
