I love working with napkins! I do have a tip for separating the layers ….use two tiny pieces of washy tape( it won’t tear your napkin cause it’s not as sticky as other tapes) one on the right side of the napkin and the other on the white layer..repeat till all layers are separated. Hope that helps…thanks for the opportunity to win some napkins!!❤❤
And put the tape in the middle of the napkin, avoiding the embossed “dots” on the edges that are there for the purpose of holding the layers together. Alternatively, you can use a credit card to smooth out those bumps and then you can separate the layers easily. Thanks for another great video!
I loved the different ways to use these napkins. I’ve been a fan of using napkins, but I came away with some different ideas and techniques that I’m certainly in my artwork. I would love to be in your drawing. Thank you for sharing your skills. Talents❤️👩🏻🎨
I like using napkins even though they are fragile. I've found some really pretty ones at Dollar Tree before. One lady I've watched separates her napkin layers by putting the corner edge just to where the inside of her lips catches it and when you open your mouth it pulls apart the layers. I've tried it and it works. I used to make and sell jewelry and would use napkins and mod podge to cover the plain little white boxes I put the jewelry in when shipping to customers. Tied with a narrow satin ribbon it made a nice presentation. And I would love to be in the drawing, I especially love the peacock napkin, they are my favorite birds.
I used napkins to decopage a coffee table in my sewing room. So far it has lasted 4 years. I save cereal sacks and wash them. It works wonderfully to work with napkins and paste.
My mom used to do this and I had completely forgotten. Thanks for the memory nudge! And cereal sacks are a good idea. We have recycling bags here that come in handy, too.
Hi Marcia. It is great to have paper options for filling books, a mix of paper weights and styles. Thanks for stopping by and have a creative weekend! Kelly
I tried this yesterday afternoon right after the watching the video. This morning they are completely dry and turned out soooo good! I love this technique ~ and the ease of homemade glue both in use and clean up. Thank you for this tutorial!
@@BookandPaperArts I will use at least a few as journal 'pages' in my junk journals and I would like to try to use some as you demonstrated as collage fodder. One I have high hopes for using cut out sections of in a mini pop-up book. :)
Wonderful technique to use with the napkins from the Christmas eve meal and produce an album-souvenir for the family, mixing with that evening's photos.
I have saved some quite boring, and some pretty napkins from coffee shops that have special memories of outings with my friends and daughters. I will use this technique to incorporate them into my Life Journal (because it IS all about me! ;)
I love this! I have napkins just sitting around because they are hard to work with. This technique will make them easier to use. Your videos are so informative and I always learn something new! Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas and talents!

Hello and welcome, Jackie. Thank you so much for this vote of confidence. It is always tricky to pace the need for details and instruction with getting on with it!
You have inspired me so much and helped to take me out of my most recent bout of depression. I love your attitude. Imperfection is beautiful. Thank you.
Hi Karen and thanks for this lovely message. I have also had depression in the past and sometimes creating helped and sometimes I couldn't. I hope that you find healing with making and starting where you are now and yes, being imperfect and letting stuff happen on the page (and elsewhere😺) All the very best, Kelly
I have some fun Halloween and fall napkins just waiting to be turned into something beautiful. Haven't picked up my Christmas ones yet - think Santa will stuff my Christmas stocking with a few packs! Happy winter projects.
You came up with alot of great places to find napkins.i have had a hard time finding any pretty napkins unless I order the on line but now I have some great places that I can go explore.thank you and this is the 1st time I have seen your tutorial and I really liked how you explained the process.you made it very clear.
Hello and welcome, Christine. Thanks for this nice message. Yes, once you find out where they hide the good napkins you can source them fairly easily. Someone also wrote in and said Family Dollar so - maybe?
i love the transparency of napkins and have used them for years, but you have raised them to a new level with your cornstarch glue! thanks for the inspiration!
I just found your channel today and feel I hit the jackpot!! Just getting into paper art and journaling. I love what you have done with the napkins. Ive also watched the video linked. Your instructions are easy and clear. Thank you for sharing your talent!

I'm so glad I found your tutorials, it's great to find some new ways to look at the "junk" in my life to upcycle into something beautiful and artistic. Plus how to use what I have rather than buying more things. Thank you.
Miss Kelly, THANK YOU ever so much for showing this alternative to using PVA over napkins. I'm utterly amazed at how the paste transforms them. Although, I suppose, I should not have been surprised! The crinkling was amazeballs, too! Your paste recipe just keeps on giving!
It is! When I first made it months ago I meant it to be for one project but wow, it just goes on and on with ways to use it and I like that in an art supply.
Thanks for the masterclass! I'm working on making a stash to begin making my first journal. This will be great for all the napkins I have. I've been ironing the napkins onto plastic freezer paper and crumbling them for texture. Also, made a zillion of pages using crumbled copy paper stamping & rubbing in oxide ink which makes a beautiful soft paper. Looking forward to learning more!
Hi Jennifer. Thanks for stopping by to compare notes. For me, sometimes freezer paper works great and sometimes it will not release the paper that I've ironed on to it and I have to throw the whole mess away. 🤔🤔
I am enjoying your channel sooo much…your creativity, inspiration and enthusiasm is encouraging me to try lots of new techniques and “make stuff”…thank you

This is such GREAT way to use napkins! I am so excited. And I'll stop throwing away those white layers! And nice to have these pretty napkins with more strength! You are awesome! BTW, use scotch tap to pull a layer of tissue off the napkins. Pam at the Paper Outpost enlightened me with this useful technique!
Thanks for this, Robbie. Believe it or not I've just been fiddling with them until a corner comes up for years. I finally THIS WEEK saw the tape at the corner method. Thanks for the heads up. Kelly

Hello this is a great idea, i'm from México and we made some natural glue to build piñatas and some other crafts called "engrudo" and its made with common flour and water. I love the humming bird and flower napkins. Greetings from México
I like your technique and you have some beautiful napkins. The napkin that was glued all crumpled up came out great, and I would use it as a pocket. What fun! Must go play! Thank you for sharing your ideas!
ZOWEEE Kelly! I LOVED this video, not only the lessons in it, or your wonderful voice, but the length of it too! I have tried this technique with just the glue and water mix, but me thinks I'll now have to try my hand at these stronger pieces. I L O V E D your very last journal spread at the end! It was stunning, just alone without any of the fodder, just the "blank" pages of script and print. But LOVED it even more with the brown "Humps"Splattered brown inks and the very transparent B/W papers. Thank you as always, for a complete treasure trove of amazing ideas!
Thank you Kelly for all the links to start this process. I made a lot of “faux” rice paper in 2023 using diluted white glue. I want to try your method and see if the end result is better for my process. One thing I really loved in this video was when you made the bunched up napkin piece. Amazing and I would never have thought of it. Love all your ideas and your videos.
Hi I just found you on TH-cam and I'm looking for ideas and I'm just getting started with this and I'm so grateful that there are so many of you out there you guys are awesome 💯
Such an interesting idea. I’ve always just decoupaged the napkin on, but this is a much sturdier version with multiple uses. Thank you again for another great tutorial! :)
So excited to do this! Just learning about making fodder and having it available for journaling and bookmaking. These will be wonderful additions to my paper stash!
When you made the "perfect name for a rock band" comment I laughed like hell and immediately thought of Dave Barry from the Miami Herald...a column I read every Sunday in the Washington Post. Thanks for that memory and thank you very much for this tutorial. Awesome.😀
Oh Patsye, I was such a big Dave Barry fan. I used to try to read him out loud to my son and would choke laughing out loud and whooped and couldn't read at all half the time. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you Kelly for all your inspiring videos and techniques, I enjoy looking at all of them and making art journal pages . I learnt a lot with you and made mine your motto " if it's not perfect, it's fine , I don't care" that helps me fight my illusive quest for perfection.
I am really enjoying your channel. I especially love your travel books. I made one for a 10 day visit to Paris last spring. Journaling and collaging in it, was an integral part of the trip. Hoping to win the napkins, thanks!
I found some pretty napkins in a the seasonal section of our Dollar General. They were a pretty floral, one was $1 the other $1.50 both 16 ct. I bought some, and have only use ONE! Now I have more ideas! Thanks for sharing your napkins and napkin SKILLS!
What a cool way to use napkins! The added plus is that crunch. I love crunchy paper! These ideas are magnificent and so simple to do. I love the variations too! I just subscribed and am excited to see the rest of your channel. Thank you so much for sharing this technique!❤
Cool. I need more specialty paper in one of my journals. I've done one with cereal box liners. I got about and 1/2 pages they turned out very pretty 😂 1970's rock band. Lol !! I'm going to have to make a batch of that corn starch. I can make string spheres too !! Wow. The napkin pulled up very easily. It's awesome
These napkins are gorgeous. I'm elderly and don't get out much but I still enjoy watching videos and this one is so informative. Thank you, thank you thank you for sharing this with us...LOVE IT!
So looking forward to trying your technique! What beautiful napkins you have! I check out napkins everywhere…stores, thrift shops, hotels, cafes and restaurants.
What a wonderful alternative to create paper from napkins! I had been relying on sandwiching the one ply napkin, cling wrap and then either white tissue paper or a white layer of napkin and then pressing with a hot iron. Makes for a very durable "paper" for so many applications. Thank you for such a fun process and giveaway...... 🍁🍂✴️🍂🍁
I love this, a way to make another type of paper for projects. Also, now instead of thinking about making your paste I will actually make it! Love your work! 😊
This was so helpful. I love the finished product and I also love the natural paste and dye. I’ll be going to those videos next! Thanks so much for sharing!
I've been crafting with napkins (and other found materials) since I was a child. I love finding new ways to use my materials, even if it's just a new way to make them sturdier for crafting. This is great, can't wait to try the cornstarch!
9:30 I saw someone basically dampen their thumb, roll it over the corner edge of the backing sheet, and that seemed to work well for them. Only marginally less damaging than the sticky tape to the corner...
I love using napkins and yes, have purchased the majority of my stash off etsy as i not find any and the one store that kept a good, rotating supply closed down. I islay usually use a wet paint brush to "paint" water around the image i want them carefully pull the unwanted part away from the image. That works nicely but you don't get a crisp, clean edge like you would with scissors. Thanks for sharing the idea of the paste.
I am new to your channel, and I’m so excited to try these new techniques with paper napkins, especially the homemade paste with cornflour! Looking forward to future videos❤😊

These napkins are gorgeous. I'm elderly and don't get out much but I still enjoy watching videos and this one is so informative. Thank you, thank you thank you for sharing this with us...LOVE IT!
Now on them. Works every time.
Working with pretty napkins is so satisfying!
I recently got some Moonin napkins from Japan. I’m definitely going to try this technique. Thanks for sharing.
Moonin napkins. No way!!! How utterly charming.
I love this, a way to make another type of paper for projects. Also, now instead of thinking about making your paste I will actually make it! Love your work! 😊
This was so helpful. I love the finished product and I also love the natural paste and dye. I’ll be going to those videos next! Thanks so much for sharing!
These are so great!! Thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas! You have some lovely napkins as well! 🥰👏🏻
I've been crafting with napkins (and other found materials) since I was a child. I love finding new ways to use my materials, even if it's just a new way to make them sturdier for crafting. This is great, can't wait to try the cornstarch!
Just found your channel, and I love working with paper napkins. Thanks for the inspiration
I love your napkins. Especially the blue butterfly one! Thanks for sharing!
Ooh, that art journal spread with patchwork book text… drooling and it’s just the background! 😂😂😂 So yummy!
This is such an interesting method!! I love crinkly paper sounds! 😊
I especially love the mark making on the treated white layer. Can't wait to try this!
9:30 I saw someone basically dampen their thumb, roll it over the corner edge of the backing sheet, and that seemed to work well for them. Only marginally less damaging than the sticky tape to the corner...
Hi Kayenne. I did try that and it didn't work for me. Maybe it's all in the wrist! Thanks for the idea.
@@BookandPaperArts The sticky tape works better for me...sort of. Some people just have the knack.
Love these papers. Thank you for sharing your techniques. Art journal ideas galore inside my head. 🤣
Love your ideas! Thank you for sharing!
You know, Susan, I tried that and it did it did not work for me but then again I might have been missing something.
I am new to your channel, and I’m so excited to try these new techniques with paper napkins, especially the homemade paste with cornflour! Looking forward to future videos❤😊
Hello and welcome! I hope you make some gorgeous pages! Kelly
