I love how you transformed a beautiful napkin into fodder that can be preserved in an art journal. Van Gogh’s almond blossom is one of my favorite paintings! Thanks for sharing! ♥️
I like using napkins even though they are fragile. I've found some really pretty ones at Dollar Tree before. One lady I've watched separates her napkin layers by putting the corner edge just to where the inside of her lips catches it and when you open your mouth it pulls apart the layers. I've tried it and it works. I used to make and sell jewelry and would use napkins and mod podge to cover the plain little white boxes I put the jewelry in when shipping to customers. Tied with a narrow satin ribbon it made a nice presentation. And I would love to be in the drawing, I especially love the peacock napkin, they are my favorite birds.
I used napkins to decopage a coffee table in my sewing room. So far it has lasted 4 years. I save cereal sacks and wash them. It works wonderfully to work with napkins and paste.
My mom used to do this and I had completely forgotten. Thanks for the memory nudge! And cereal sacks are a good idea. We have recycling bags here that come in handy, too.
Love the idea of using home-made paste! It seems to work quite nicely, and worked very well for your napkin project. Thank you for sharing your time and creative talents on this project with us !! 😀
I tried this yesterday afternoon right after the watching the video. This morning they are completely dry and turned out soooo good! I love this technique ~ and the ease of homemade glue both in use and clean up. Thank you for this tutorial!
What a fun way to use paper napkins! I’ve used them frequently as a decoupage item…can’t wait to try using them as paper. And that crinkle sound is delicious! Thanks for the video.
I am enjoying your channel sooo much…your creativity, inspiration and enthusiasm is encouraging me to try lots of new techniques and “make stuff”…thank you
I love this! I have napkins just sitting around because they are hard to work with. This technique will make them easier to use. Your videos are so informative and I always learn something new! Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas and talents!
Thank you as always Kelly for sharing your art and info. I've not worked with napkins often (hard to find nice ones) but when I do, I use transparent tape to pull apart the white layers. Hope that helps others. Thank you again Kelly!
Omg, I love how the napkins look on text, I love the sound of crinkly paper, mush, yep, I'm good at that😂 we call it cornflour too, I love your recipe. beautiful tutorial. Thanks a bunch.😍🇦🇺❤️❤️❤️
I love working with napkins! I do have a tip for separating the layers ….use two tiny pieces of washy tape( it won’t tear your napkin cause it’s not as sticky as other tapes) one on the right side of the napkin and the other on the white layer..repeat till all layers are separated. Hope that helps…thanks for the opportunity to win some napkins!!❤❤
And put the tape in the middle of the napkin, avoiding the embossed “dots” on the edges that are there for the purpose of holding the layers together. Alternatively, you can use a credit card to smooth out those bumps and then you can separate the layers easily. Thanks for another great video!
I loved the different ways to use these napkins. I’ve been a fan of using napkins, but I came away with some different ideas and techniques that I’m certainly in my artwork. I would love to be in your drawing. Thank you for sharing your skills. Talents❤️👩🏻🎨
Such an interesting idea. I’ve always just decoupaged the napkin on, but this is a much sturdier version with multiple uses. Thank you again for another great tutorial! :)
Thank you Kelly for all the links to start this process. I made a lot of “faux” rice paper in 2023 using diluted white glue. I want to try your method and see if the end result is better for my process. One thing I really loved in this video was when you made the bunched up napkin piece. Amazing and I would never have thought of it. Love all your ideas and your videos.
I love this idea. It’s going to be fun to do , and I’m sure I’m going to like working with the sturdier napkin pages. Thanks for sharing this technique. Now to go get some cornstarch!
I've been crafting with napkins (and other found materials) since I was a child. I love finding new ways to use my materials, even if it's just a new way to make them sturdier for crafting. This is great, can't wait to try the cornstarch!
Such wonderful soundtrack! That crinkling sound is so satisfying! 🎵🎶🎼 I assure you: where I live the napkins in the shops are absolutely hideous 😂! There are only those with birthday themes (which always say “happy birthday”) and Christmas motifs (which I hate). Then there are regular napkins with colours: red, blue, green, etc, and that’s it. No flowers or other great motifs. You have great ideas and these papers look amazing 💙♥️🩷💜🩵💛🩶❤️🤎🧡💚
Alexandra, that is interesting about the bad napkin selection. I have found some of my favourites from the supermarket! Maybe someday you will find the magic shop with the not hideous napkins! 😺😺😺😺😺😺
Pretty results, Kelly. I've done this with Elmer's glue and water and then I added some coffee stain to the mixture as well. It makes the napkins a little darker and looks especially nice on the white layers.
This is a really cool technique which I have never done before. I like the idea of thickening up the napkin and then having something substantial to work with in my journal. I'm working on it right now and am excited to see how it turns out. Thanks for all the great tips!
Thank you Kelly for all your inspiring videos and techniques, I enjoy looking at all of them and making art journal pages . I learnt a lot with you and made mine your motto " if it's not perfect, it's fine , I don't care" that helps me fight my illusive quest for perfection.
I am new to your channel, and I’m so excited to try these new techniques with paper napkins, especially the homemade paste with cornflour! Looking forward to future videos❤😊
They are beautiful napkins. Can’t wait to try my hand at this project. You’ve mentioned Mississippi on several occasions. I didn’t know if you grew up there or not. I grew up in the Delta many many many years ago. My daughter and I love your videos.
A wonderful video showing us how to make paper napkin paper with little cost, Kelly! Love the crinkle-y sound of the paper, too. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Merci Akina. J'ai trouver des serviettes papier plus tres belles en france l'année dernier a Leclerc. Et j'aime bien aussi le bruit de les papiers ! Bon creer !!!!🌷🌼🌻
I like your idea of using the homemade paste. Thank you for sharing this. You have given so much info in this ne short video. Plus the idea of a give away is brilliant. I would love to recieve something from you stash.
Sooo interesting. Corn starch~~huh! I've never used it like this but will certainly try it out. And of course, I'd love to win some of your napkins!!!🥰
Thank you, Kelly for a simple technique with a big impact. I love that the napkins can become pages, and it's great to have something to do with all the white layers I have been storing up. Can't wait to get started!
Miss Kelly, THANK YOU ever so much for showing this alternative to using PVA over napkins. I'm utterly amazed at how the paste transforms them. Although, I suppose, I should not have been surprised! The crinkling was amazeballs, too! Your paste recipe just keeps on giving!
I have tried using Mod Podge on napkins before, but didn't care for the plastic-y finish either. Off to make a batch of Kelly-paste now! Thanks, Kelly as always, for the inspo!
Great suggestion! We don't have there where I live but I have visited them when I see my son in the states and that is exactly the sort of place to look. Thanks for comparing notes. Kelly
I love using napkins and yes, have purchased the majority of my stash off etsy as i not find any and the one store that kept a good, rotating supply closed down. I islay usually use a wet paint brush to "paint" water around the image i want them carefully pull the unwanted part away from the image. That works nicely but you don't get a crisp, clean edge like you would with scissors. Thanks for sharing the idea of the paste.
I found some pretty napkins in a the seasonal section of our Dollar General. They were a pretty floral, one was $1 the other $1.50 both 16 ct. I bought some, and have only use ONE! Now I have more ideas! Thanks for sharing your napkins and napkin SKILLS!
I like the idea of homemade paste rather than PVA, which I have used in the past. Have you given any thought as to how achieve an all over tea dyed look to the white serviettes? I was wondering about colouring the paste, maybe making it with tea rather than plain water. I would be interested to hear your opinion on achieving that look. Thanks Kelly.
Jenny, I would definitely add some tea or coffee (or other) to the paste mix. It is four parts water to one part starch so you could substitute coffee or tea for part or all of that water. Just make sure it is cold when you add it or the starch will get lumpy. I have also painted a layer of coffee on the napkin once the glue has dried and it looked good. Let me know how it goes!
I like this glue idea better than what I was using. I melted wax shavings with an iron onto the napkin but it comes out very stiff and difficult to glue down to a project. I will check out your video on making the cornstarch glue. Thanks!
Sometimes, if you’re lucky, the final white layer will have ghosting of the pattern from the napkin…sometimes I like that layer just as much. Thank you for the paste tip…I’m not fond of the plastic look either. I will definitely be making your paste. Thank you!

You are a very good teacher. Very thorough. The best video I’ve seen Watched many on doing this over the years. So thank you.
put a corner of your napkin between your lips. humidity on lips will pullapart layers when you carefully open your mouth 😊
Whoa! Thanks for this. I will be trying it tomorrow as I usually just mess with it and cuss a lot until a piece comes loose. Thank you!
I used napkins to decopage a coffee table in my sewing room. So far it has lasted 4 years. I save cereal sacks and wash them. It works wonderfully to work with napkins and paste.
Wow, that sounds amazing

I ❤ napkins in collage
They all look amazing. I've made the glue style ones, but now will have to try this technique out. The crinkle is really nice.
Yes…I want that crinkle too!
Nothing makes our day like the sound of paper crinkling or rustling. 😺😺

Thank you for another page idea for my journals. I also really like the coffee stained piece for collaging.
Hi Kelly
I’ve used napkins to go over text the way that you describe.
But I really like this technique.
It gives a person so many options!

You know, Susan, I tried that and it did it did not work for me but then again I might have been missing something.
Love this, Kelly, thank you. I think I shall try it with tissue paper also! Thanks to you I always have "paste" around now!
Another great video! I have learned so much from you. Thank you!
That is great. Looking forward to trying it. Thank you for all your great ideas.
