- Louise uses her signature methods of experimenting with paper to demonstrate the creation of organic, lace-like textured papers. The stunning results will significantly enhance your mark-making repertoire and add jewel-like papers to your collage treasure trove.
Brilliant for journalling, collage, mixed-media, abstracts, card-making and much more. We hope you enjoy XXX
Hi all, to clarify the glue details, as the sound on the video is not very good (my apologies) - I used methylcellulose, which is about the same as wallpaper paste but without chemical additives. I use methyl cellulose because it is a natural product that is water soluble, so I will take the paints applied really well; you can use any starch-based glue. The PVA glues are generally non-soluble when dry and are not archival. X Hope this helps, and many thanks for watching X😀

what Beautiful papers, thanks for sharing with us. I hope your studio is back in shape soon. Just FYI, the volume here is quite low. But no worries, I thouroughly enjoyed this video
Love it! Thanks for sharing☺
My pleasure thanks for watching xxx
I’ve watched about 10 hours on acrylic mediums (media?) I am now so confused, BUT! You’re the FIRST one who put black behind it, everyone else was spreading pastes and modeling clay white on white…. Isn’t it basic, to think that nobody can actually see anything? So thank you for having creativity AND common sense!
Hia, thank you for watching and glad I got something right hehe XX😀The black really showed off the colours too X
Very creative and interesting . Continue to show how you used these papers in projects . Thanks .
Stunning! U are fabulous at this textural exploration.. So sorry tohear about the damage to your roof. Hope it is sorted quickly for you. Best R
Hi Robert. Thanks for the kind comments all the very best Louise😀
So happy to see that you have uploaded. I’ve wanted to use lacy mulberry paper for collage, but had the same reluctance due to its regularity in pattern and cost prohibitive sizes (too small for my needs). Thank you so much for sharing your discoveries. So much diversity and so many possibilities!
I think these turned out much nicer than the commercially available ones! They are beautiful... Thank you so much for sharing this, I can't wait to make some. I'm ordering my cords right now and doing a few sizes so I can pick which would work better for me then just return those I don't want. Thank you again, you are so very kind and generous!
My pleasure, glad the video is helpful. All the best, Louise😀
Thanks. I do want to do mulberry felting so will continue to search for bamboo. I have used bubble ersp but bamboo looks easier to use. Thanks
My pleasure. Good luck and enjoy xxx
Brilliant! I love the strings idea for a window pane paper effect. I suggest dipping the strings into the glue before putting them down onto the first layer. They stayed put for me. Thanks so much!
Great idea! thanks for the rip X. Many thanks for watching and glad you are enjoying it. All the very best, Louise😀
These papers are absolutely stunning👌‼️ Color applied , brings them to life. Thank You so much, Louise Jannetta .♥️💐🙏
You are very😀 welcome!
Louise, I wondered about making affordable lace paper. Thank you for your demo. I really like the string grid piece.
Hi Kathleen. Glad it was helpful! I can't wait to put them to use on an abstract and I'll be making loads of them to put in my collage treasure trove. XX😀
I have never seen this before. Great idea, those papers are expensive ❤ Thank you for sharing ❤
Great glad it's of use. Enjoy x

You are so welcome! Many thanks for watching and have fun. 😀
Thank you for sharing your talents! I have been looking at kozo paper this is a unique to the artist way to get it without spending $$$!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching X😀
This is great!! I've been seeing these cool papers being used but couldn't justify the cost of them... I think I will try this with the backing layers of napkins. Also, I have a whole big tin full of spools of sewing thread...who knew it gets old and mucks up your sewing machine? And I want to figure out those circles, bee hives or something like it. I had tried circles by using threads and gel medium but it didn't work out. Thank you for giving me inspiration for my mad scientist gene!!
Go for it! Have fun XXX Thanks for watching and so glad you have got something from the channel. All the very best, Louise😀
What a fabulous tutorial.Thank you so much. Can I just say I struggled with the audio and had to rely on the subtitles.I hope this issue can be rectified.😀
That was a lovely comment. Thanks for the feedback. Thanks for letting me know that the audio was better in the following tutorial. Look after yourself, and all the best, Louise X😀
This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing your techniques. The decorative papers are so expensive and I find I am rather judicious with them. Now I can make my own. Brilliant!
Glad it's helpful, and you.get to experiment and discover your own speciality papers. Enjoy xxxx
Sorry about your upheaval re the roof. I really appreciate you doing a video. Thanks for a great demo Louise. Love what you made. 💯💥👍👍👍
Many thanks for your well wishes and support. All the very best to you and yours, Louise😀
I recently tried sewing 2-4 papers together in random messy pattern, then put it in a bowl of warm water & rub it together. It gave fabulous results!
(Note: don’t put papers in ur sink bc little pieces will clog your drain )
Great tip, many thanks will certainly try this one. Thanks for sharing. all the very best Louise X😀

These masterful techniques you create are thrilling for me! Thank you for showing & explaining everything as this thrills me to be able to make these luscious specialty papers! You wave your wand (brush!), and the magic happens. I've been wanting these papers, but their prices are exorbitant. Your ideas, all your videos, illuminate my passion for paper arts. Thank YOU so much. 💎✴️🌿✨️🦋✨️🌿✴️💎

Fabulous! You always make the best papers and I’m very keen to try these out! ❤
Glad you like them! Have fun XX Thanks for watching Cindy X😀
This is absolutely fabulous. Several months ago I experimented trying to replicate agura lace without a great deal of success but love your methods. I love working with that packaging paper mesh and don’t find it too regular. I spray it over something else so it acts as a stencil at the same time. I’ve never thought of wetting it first though. I use it a lot in my art. I’ve also made circles with fibres on tissue paper and when you glue it down the tissue becomes invisible. I’ve always used acrylic based media and never had any problems with painting it afterwards. Another thing I do is punch holes in those accordion folded medication leaflets, then unfold them and spray over something else so they act as a stencil as before. The printing on them adds interest. They tear beautifully along the perforations made with the crop-a-file. Fun fun fun!!
Thank you - loads of good tips, I love using easily sourced, inexpensive materials that can add to our markmaking. Thanks again for sharing your own process and methods. We all invent ways of working, and the sharing process allows us to learn and experience alternatives to add to our repertoire. Many thanks, and happy creating XXX 😀All the very best for the festive season and beyond, Louise X😀
@@LouiseJannetta Thanks for your lovely reply - and yes, couldn’t agree more about using readily available materials. I love making art with rubbish and recycled materials! Hope you have a great Christmas too!
I dunno what happemed to my comment! But... it's so good to watch you, hear you explain your process. And the papers are gorgeous! When you think how expensive they are to buy, and then watching you makes it look easy. I'm going to have a go. They're all fab, even the packaging you dont like! Mx
Thanks again Margaret X I agree, they are a lovely find. ENJOY X😀
So interesting! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching. All the best Louise X😀
This is FASCINATING! Oh, I definitely have to try this because it would be GORGEOUS in Surreal Collage! Thank you SO much for the inspiration! 🙂
Wow that sounds intriging, I would love to see what you create X Thanks for watching and all the best Lou X😀
This was a fantastic video. I can't wait to try
Hope you enjoy it!😀🍀
What a clever idea! thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching X😀
Oh my word, this is just what I love for collage work. I only wish you would've completely done the no.3 packing paper one, I think that's most interesting to me. Of course I love them all. This is so great for those of us on limited budgets. I love to get right into it and turn it into some gorgeous. I think metallic add to these would be fabulous. Thank you so much for this wonderful video and your sharing this with us.
Thank you so much! Great idea about the addition of matalic colours X Many thanks for watching and the lovely comments, have fun X😀

Thank you for watching X. Glad that they are helpful, enjoy X. Hopefully hear from you again. All the very best, Louise 😀
I love the packing paper! I never seem to get it when I buy stuff!
Hi Diane, it is called hive or honeycomb packing paper if you want to buy some. X, I think that companies are attempting to be more ethical and use paper rather than plastic, so we will probably see it more in the future.😀
@@LouiseJannetta thank you! 😊
Interesting going to try this, thank you for sharing
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks
Wow, Aine, I hope I have your name right; this is very kind of you. Many thanks for your support, so glad you got something from the video and many thanks for watching. All the very best, Louise X😀
I just discovered your channel recently Louise and think your work is wonderful. I love your experiential work and the subsequent results.
Great technique. For me, the hardest part will be waiting for the glue to dry. I might try working on freezer paper (instead of cellophane) and then using a heat gun to dry the tissue paper. For really bright colors, acrylic ink might work.
That's a great tip to use the freezer paper; I don't know why I didn't think about that. Much more eco-friendly and probably cheaper. Many thanks again X 😀
I like the technique. It reminds me of making joomchi paper. Like you, I like the more organic shapes and textures rather than being able to identify wat something was before. Thanks for sharing your process.
These were joomchi inspired, I think I tred to find a simpler, easier method to achieve what is very labour intensive in joomchi X. Joomchi still has its own attributes that cnnot be replicated. Thank you for watching and so glad you enjoyed it. All the best, Louise.
@@LouiseJannetta I like the technique for the same reason - similar but simpler. 🙂
Such tremendous ideas and techniques! I will be trying this very soon (have to get cellulose paste)!
Have fun! Methylycellulose is the same as wall paper paste but without the additives. XX therefore more archival.😀
@@LouiseJannetta Thanks, maybe for practice I'll try a few ideas w/w.p. paste first, until I figure out what I'm doing! LOL
these papers, the textures, the colors... it's all so wonderful. so grateful that you share your creative ideas with us, hardly notice the traffic sounds! i wonder if the wiggly packing paper that you didn't like and eventually abandoned would be easier to handle if you layer it between pieces of tissue paper...? thank you so much for the continual inspiration. (your use of string and threads for texture makes me think of your past work, creating beautiful tree images out of thread...)
Thanks, Alice; I'm getting loads of good tips. 😀And also, yes, these methods lead to one another; past methods certainly inform our process. X Look after yourself, and all the best, Lou😀
These are fabulous. I will certainly makes some. I was sorry to hear about your studio roof. How awful for you. I hope it as all fixed soon.
Hi Jan., Glad you like them, and many thanks for watching. The roof damage will be for the best and the prompt to modernise the studio, ao all will be well. XXX Look after yourself and happy festivities. All the best, Louise😀
Wow Louise - you just reminded me that I actually have a couple of sheets of the purchased Lacey papers somewhere. I agree with you that the more organic ones, self-made, are preferable. I am dying to know whether you have tried using these in a 'chine colle' context ?
Hi I had a look at your TH-cam presence and then at your website. I love your work. 😀
This is interesting. It has given me some ideas how to use this. I'm going 3 D . I have played with tissue paper and crepe paper especially the coloured ones when the colours bleed. Very interesting.❤❤
Hi Annie that sound wonderful, yes 3D is a lovely possibility. Enjoy😀
It would be interesting to use those pieces to “print” onto other paper as well, while you’re adding the initial colours. Would create some lovely marks & colours
That's a great idea! We will certainly have to give that a go. Many thanks Lou X😀
Please let us know the glue you use...could not hear. What a great technique
Hi, I used methyl cellulose which is about the same as wall paper paste but without the chemical additives. 😀
Very interesting results! Please tell us what kind/brand of glue you are using.

Thank you for sharing your brilliant discoveries. They are really beautiful! I beg your pardon, but I couldn´t understand how we can apply these textures to the canvas.
Hi, thanks for watching. I'm glad they are useful. I stick these to canvas or stretched papers that I have collaged, using acrylic medium as the adhesive.
I have linked a video that shows me applying some joomchied mulberry paper, similar to this thread and tissue paper technique.😀

Hi Margaret, I will put this under the video's description. Book-binding suppliers often have it; I use Rochfords in Stockport XXX Hope all is well, and many thanks for watching. All the very best, Louise😀
I have some of the specialty papers you showed at the beginning and don't use them because a) I only have a few and b) they are so expensive. I might as well not have them. Im so glad I stumbled across your channel! I can't wait to get some of that glue and try this myself. Ive done something similar with thread and glue between copy paper that was beautiful, but yours is gorgeous. Im a new subscriber now.
