I always lusted after a Kona while I was growing up. Somehow never managed to own one despite owning more or less everything else. They epitomised that fun, carefree (and brightly coloured) bro-dude surfer vibe that was everywhere in the 90s, like Animal watches. Always makes me a bit sad when these veteran brands get bought up by big conglomerates and they lose a bit of their identity.

In the early 2000s when I was working in a shop I purchased a Kona Howler and it was my first proper full sus, at the time it was one of the cheapest on the market, sadly let down by sub par components, but I loved that frame.
