We like bikes too.
The Insane Legacy of Josh Bender
We love Josh Bender! What a pioneer, he is a major reason why you see the RedBull Rampage and bikes have enough suspension to handle gnarly terrain. I have to admit my footage reel was a bit basic and only shows the legends New World Disorder 2 parts. I don't think it's possible to do this man justice. Thank You Josh Bender!

The beginning of all modern mountain bikin' ! I've been started my experience with dh bikes seeing him videos, thank you Josh!
Thank you for watching and we have a lot to thank Josh for
👍good Sound.
Thank you 😋
The 12" motocross style forks were Marzocchi super Monster T mountain bike forks
And they were a thing of beauty.
Love this kind of video! There’s not enough of this stuff in mountain biking, good job bro

Wish the video was longer. I met Josh at a party in Denver around 04’ Most chill guy ever. Built like a short tank.
@@nolangoldberger2921 thanks for watching, most of our videos could be TH-cam shorts.
2:24 its called the "jaw drop" not the bender sender.
Some people also call it the jah drop definitely looks like a jaw. Thanks for watching

@@tjpighin and the jah drop I’m told, thanks for watching
The Seth enslow of mtb haha 🙌😎 YYAAATT
Pretty poor form to not tell us where he is now. He was crazy. No idea about physics whatsoever. I learnt to drop by doing the opposite of him. There's rumours he died in a car crash or he's Married with a family and still rides. Does anyone know. I bet his body hates him now. He was a freakin legend.
There was a movie made recently by freeride entertainment called nothing for free, and bender was in it. He's growing weed and smoking a pile of it and yes his body hates him.
You can find him on instagram, he’s been on the gnar couch podcast chatting about his career aswell. Thanks for watching👍
@trevormckenna9356 Bender and I livin the same life. Weed let's my body hate me less and I still Dirt Moto at 52. Heaps of different stuff on my channel. KEEP IT REAL ON THE BACK WHEEL 🤙.
He is one of the main people and judges involved with rebull rampage still to this day. I believe he still lives around that area
As far as I know, he's a bike tour guide
Pistol Peat
If they just specd bikes with higher quality components they could have been great but they wanted to be affordable
Dire editing, reading off a card and using a legends film clips to get a channel going for yourself ..poor
@@Shaun-r5b thanks for watching, it was off my phone I’m learning on the job, I’ll get there one day
Brage landed the drop at 2:29
that drop is called the Jah drop. not the Bender sender!
I think bender sender is an adult drinking game now? I’ve seen it called the jaw drop too.
Yeah, Bender calls it the Jah Drop on vid. Then describes how brutal and difficult it is to land.
Karkpiel Armageddon.
A thing of beauty
He road the Apocalypse as well , it had more rear travel i think , the Armageddon was 11'' rear the apocalypse was 13'' i could be wrong (its been like 20yrs), it had Risse Champ big foot 12'' upside down fork ️
I raced nationals at deer valley the same weekend he made the news for eating shit off a giant near by drop. It was irritating in a way because he took all the attention away from the actual talented riders. Later he made movies with guys I knew, worked with, and had riden with. I never thought he had much skill, but had no way to deny he had huge balls. I still prefer racing.
Thanks for watching, I understand your frustration, but I haven’t got the balls to do either but would happily sit and watch both all day long
Stupid ass bike, landing rear wheel heavy every drop. LOL. What do they say about not learning from your mistakes 😂
Thanks for watching, having seen one up close and trying to ride one, I agree.
i think someone they trust as a beginner maybe gives them bad advice to land rear heavy , we had to tell our friend on a kona stinky to try land almost two wheels at the same time so you dont make the head angle super slack eating through the rear travel before the front wheel even touched down..we was doing urban stair drops / almost everything to flat ground , he was scary to watch 😂 he had more balls then talent and a big ox of a lad +6ft +220lb on a fully stock build .
You're free to try...
Ha. In feel bad about my comment now. Good on you Josh! ❤
Oh yes!!! Oldie but so good!

Damn Raleigh bikes RIP they are owned by a Kenya 🇰🇪 company now wtf?
@@xclent1975 thanks for watching, I think they have been owned by most international holding companies at some point, sad times it wouldn’t happen to a building that holds that much history, why should it to company?

I ride a secondhand tcr frame, and have been for a while. Its always about 5 years older than the current one. Im 6'3" and have ridden all kinds of sizes tcr by now. Absolute favorite roadbike frames.
I just bought a used 2020 Talon 3 hardtail to try to use as a commuter in my hilly city. I haven't had a bike since my old 1970's Schwin 10 speed. The thing seems like a dream compared to those. Now I gotta reinstall my muscles so I can ride it.
"but lance was pack filler until he took epo!!" beats indurain to deny the triple crown and become the youngest ever world champ at 22
Nice one Look at Brother cycles Equally as cool.
Thank you I recognise the name Brother cycles, I will investigate. Must admit I’m a sucker for small companies that do something different
Yooo whats the opening song?
It’s AI made on a website called udio. Thanks for watching
The speed metal intro is a really stupid choice.

I think Lance said himself that he was only levelling the playing field. They were all on it, hence why the win wasn't handed down to anyone else between 1999 and 2005. He was legendary, and the whole world was shocked when he confessed. Followed by 10/12 year of relatively clean sport, but i really have my suspicions that something is creeping back into the sport.
the sport has never been and never will be "clean" by a simplistic definition. a soldier who takes a substance to tackle an hours-long march over a mountain in afghanistan isnt "cheating" if you risk your life for your sport you should take what you need to perform. lance was a dick and reinforced the omerta/ code of silence when it suited him which is why they crucified him frankly. he was brash and confident and american from day one which made them hate him even before the allegations.
Come on, we all know Bond is a Brompton man. He'd have one stashed in his suit pocket ready to go.
@@SteveKimbo good point or more of a moulton (I think they were made by Pashley)
Thinking I’m in the teensiest tiniest way like Sam Hill has kept me from going to clips😬
I think my first grown-up bike was a Raleigh Superbe. I remember my sister's Raleigh Shopper (a Twenty variant) as being comfortable to ride a long way. I used to ride a Raleigh Maverick off road.
Own 2 stumpjumper .1 a 1998 m2 in green .used it for years , snapped 1 of the front legs giving it some abuse at style cop Cannock. Last September Propa big crash Then there the 2013 full carbon with carbon sram 00X love the finish, light weight and fast. Although now in my 50s think an electric model maybe?
I do like the idea of e-bikes it’s just hard to justify the cost 💲
I bought a Raleigh Superb in 1982 in green for £127 plus an extra £8 for lights and that was a simple 3 speed bike for like £650 in now money. A bike was a big investment back then.
Lance was unlucky because he got caught. He wasn't the first and he won't be the last. He raised an awful lot of money for cancer but most people just remember him as the bloke who took drugs, which is a shame. He made it miles worse by denying it for so long! Still a legend though 👊
@@SteveKimbo i think he did a massive amount of positive things, just a shame how it ended up. Thanks for watching
Maybe the drugs cured his cancer.

Good video ! I lived next to a Specialized/Trek/ shop in the late 80-s to late 90's and never got a taste for them. I now , many years later have 2 black hardrocks, an 99 A1 Expedition, and 2 FSR enduro's. still no treks though. I like Rocky mountain,GT,Norco,Kona mostly though .
Thanks
great video. New subscriber here and Cheers from Nova Scotia , Canada !
Thank you, welcome aboard
@@bikefilth thank you. i hope to show my 90's collection in the spring. I have a few newer than that like the 2 FSR enduros but most else is 91-99.
My favorite Raleigh bike was one in the 70's that had direct metal braking. No wires. The braking system was a series of interconnected metal rods. Unique.
@@jackormbrek5043 rod brakes, I have serviced a few of those, I think Pashley might still make them? You have to remove the brake completely to repair a puncture. Love them. Thanks for watching.

Mat hoffman is awesome
I've still got my 80s Mag Shock. Love that old bike.
Meh, I appreciate Specialized are basically responsible for the modern MTB but I think they're overrated these days. Trading on history and overpriced when they're not really offering anything different to anyone else. Can I also say I love the bit of the intro with the trees and the pouring rain, that's exactly what mountain biking in the UK is like 95% of the year 😂
Thanks Steve, I’m not personally the biggest fan of specialized, I had a second hand vegas Bmx and it was okay, nothing special. They were a pain for independent bike shops as the seat post size was always specific to specialized, that’s probably change now.
