@@xLED_CloutLordC just my way of thinking haha, if putting bad things together, then we have the worst, otherwise putting good things together, we shall raise the best!
Sekiro is my fave since it feels compact, yet complex like cuphead. The bosses make you use all your tools rather than the game giving you too many like in ER and the game being too easy and not encouraging any other playstyle like in DS3. Speaking of DS3, it's kinda boring, like switch my brain off and spam roll, which shouldn't be the case for a soulslike. It's not bad by any means just boring on repeat play throughs. Eh I think best soulslikes are cuphead, Sekiro and I wanna try hollow knight so bad.
Nah they are equally obnoxious they both think their games are the second coming of Jesus christ and neither can find flaws that's why I see a unbiased video and they mock both fanbases it's funny
@@pressy-fb1hs yeah maybe so but they think that way about those games for a reason. They are masterpiece games and nobody in their right mind anyways could argue that. For instance I don’t personally like sekiro mainly because I suck at it lol but I still acknowledge the fact that it’s an excellent game.
Recent kaicenat stream shows why bb fans are the worst people in this community. I also just don’t understand how they can genuinely sit here and pretend like it’s better than ER or sekiro.
@@MattDean-o1tmy point was they love the masterpieces so much that they can't see the bad I know this because I love Elden ring so much I can barely take the criticism on the game but unlike them I accept people have opinions and I can see that the critisms are true
I’d have to say Sekiro is my personal favorite no other souls game has ever given me the extreme sense of accomplishment that sekiro did when I beat a really hard boss. In dark souls or Elden ring every time I beat a boss I just felt like I either got lucky with boss rng or I lucked out with my dodges. Sekiro for the most part actually forces the player to actually learn a boss, not spam roll and hit it every now and then.
"triggereddd" jk haha. i'm also in the small club that would rank ds2 just over BB :') but the rest of my list looks totally different. they're all masterpieces tho
@@bjeurn2273 oh yeah I agree. They’re all unique experiences and I don’t think that you can necessarily even compare them for the purposes of 'is this game better than the other?'
It’s so interesting for the obvious top 3 because it’s legit just preferences like for me bloodbornes at 3 but my buddy’s list has that shit at like #1 or 2. I’ll basically always congratulate fromsoft for trying something new instead of copying and pasting a lot despite what others say
I’m a completionist who does every area, every boss, and every side dungeon in every souls game. I’m just a chronic loot goblin, and that makes me want to play the story chalice dungeons in BB, and it’s a mistake every single time because they have the worst stretch of content in the series. The final chalice literally recycles the same exact side floor two floors in a row for some reason. I’ve also come to learn that BB balance is screwed by the dungeons, because the power difference is massive between doing and not doing them, the devs expected you to do some dungeoning, but most players don’t. But if you complete the story dungeons through to completion, then you are generally a little too powerful. I wish From Soft just didn’t make them and put more into the straightforward adventure.
9:52 It didn't make you feel like you "weren't the main character." It made you feel like you had to truly "earn" your position as the main character. Getting the Lordvessel is only so important because the challenge is REAL!
S tier (gaming masterpieces): Bloodborne and Sekiro A tier (amazing experiences): Elden Ring, DS3, DS1 B tier (pretty good games): DeS, DS2 These games are so good that their worst ones are still a B tier (at worst).
I experienced DS1 for the first time recently after having played 4 of the Fromsoft games, and everything you said here applies so well. The world design is absolutely incredible. Riding an elevator back to firelink shrine was the most relieving feeling, and it’s shocking how well the game has aged. It’s a timeless classic really. The combat is a bit sluggish especially compared to the older games, and the 2nd half clearly has a steep drop off in quality (although it’s still decent), DLC ups the combat intensity and lays the groundwork for what later games would look like. I also think the NPCs are more interesting and likable than later games. The one thing that did surprise me was how much of the difficulty was in basic traversal. You’d die in the levels about 20-30 times, then beat the boss in 4-5 tries. It’s the opposite of later games where you’d cruise through the levels if you know what you’re doing, then die to the boss 50 times. I almost kinda prefer this way, where you’re constantly chipping away to progress through the level, rather than just dying to the same enemy over and over again, respawning outside of the arena, and trying again.
My personal list: 1. Ds1 2. DS3 3. Elden Ring 4. Bloodborne 5. Ds2 6. Sekiro 7. Demons souls This are all very personal and subjective. In terms of quality I think sekiro is actually their best game but I like the rpg nature of the other games more. It also wasn’t until last year that I had a PlayStation so bloodborne and demons souls were the last two games I played so that may have effected their placement
@@Yive. I have ds1 over ds3 because I think it’s world is better. DS3 In 2024 is the better game to play but I’m ranking these games in reference to the time in which I played them and for 2011 dark souls was such a unique experience that has still never been replicated. Obviously the boss fights aren’t good by todays standards but for that time nobody was calling them “mid” or slow. Aside from the big standouts like bed of chaos. People hated it just as much back then as they do now
@@TheMudsnake it's probably the setting or build variety not that the game is bad. i prefer the other souls games becasue of that even tho ik sekiro is better than pretty much all of them except maybe elden ring
another "complaint" i would have about BB which was something i really felt my first playtrough is that a big chunk of the game really looks and feels the same if it comes to aesthetics. it feels like 80% of the game takes place in the same erea (even tho i know its not). i would actually say its kind of the same way sekiro's ereas also feel the same way a lot. I remember getting outside the city and later into the dlc (esp fishing hamlet) felt so refreshing because i got a brake from being into yharnam all the time. Still a masterpiece tho. this is just one of the minor "complaints" i felt wasn't mentioned into this really good vid
I couldn't agree more. This was a big part of why I bounced of BB on my first playthrough. By the time I got to Mergo's Loft, I was desperate for an area that didn't look like the same as all the other areas. BB's aesthetic is very effective when you first arrive in Central Yharnam, but then the entire rest of the game looks like that, and it just becomes tedious. It's like if all of Elden Ring's field areas looked like Mt. Gelmir. I think a big part part of it is how muted BB's color pallete is. It's 95% black and dark grey, with bits of sickly yellow and dark red poking through. There's more vibrancy in Liurnia than there is in the entirety of BB.
The 4 main areas of Yarnham, being Central Yarnham, Old Yarnham, Cathedral Ward and Yaharguul, all substantially stand out in their own way imo even tho theyre all in the same city. No city fromsoft has created comes close to Yarnham in feeling like an actual city (except maybe Lyndell)…. Anor Londo, Irythill, Ringed City, Lyndell, Farum Azula, Ashina area etc all feel like single level “cities” that are not as fleshed out or detailed. Finally, the dark greyish colors are crucial to portray the horror and themes of the game. Kinda how it’s done in DS3 (e.g. Irythill’s colors), it allows for certain vibrant colors to really stand out in a very artistic way (e.g. all the blood & bloodweapons, arcane weapons, the sky and the moon, nightmare areas, kin/great ones enemies, fire/bolt beasts, etc)
@@ah_helou2845 oooh i really agree what you are saying don't get me wrong. no other fromsoft city stands out as much as yarnham's 4 main ereas. i even like yaharguul way more than the general BB enjoyer (esp the part when the kidnapper takes you there early). But still it feels like 1 ultra massive (very good peak fromsoft) level for most of the game which made me crave to some other settings when getting later into the game. because i already was so used to the aestetic, it made me apreciate the city levels less at the time. I actually wouldn't change the city at all (because its obviously S-tier), but maybe add another erea that's totally different like the fishing hamlet or hemwick charnel lane. (maybe another route going from old yharnam? im just thinking lol)
@@bjeurn2273 yup i totally agree with you about Yaharguul and youre right compared to DS or Elden Ring, BB has less variety in the aesthetic of its levels so i understand your point
I've played them in release order for over 10 years. My top: 1. ER 2. BB 3. Ds3 4. Ds2 5. Ds1 5. DeS Sekiro is difficult for me to rate, I recognize its quality, but I prefer the variety of the other souls.
They're so good that basically any ranking is valid. All of them have their highs and lows, so it just goes to each individual to decide which highs outweigh each lows My personal list is 1. Sekiro 2. Dark Souls 1 3. Bloodborne 4. Elden Ring 5. Dark Souls 3 6. Dark Souls 2 7. Demon's Souls But I LOOOVE Demon's Souls. Just goes to show how good each game is.
With all due respect, but If this video shows one thing, it is how whinny you are about the littlest things, the points you made never feel constructive.... trust me Ive heard ppl and channels bashing some of my fav games like ds2 and 3 for years and never cared, but your video is the only one that made me genuinely annoyed.
I think the DS3 combat outside of bosses is held back by 1. Enemies that attack too fast (as evidenced by ER slowing them down) and 2. The lack of a functional poise system. Because you can stun lock enemies with r1, and they can do the same to you, it becomes a game of “thou who swingeth first wineth the fight”
Quality over Quantity great art style the BEST sound track hands down. Great lore and it knew the balance between difficulty and fun. I find it really concerning seeing discourse from players going from Elden Ring to other souls titles comparing difficulty and IF they say Elden Ring is harder than older titles they conflate difficulty with a boss being good or not. They'll say they played Dark Souls or Bloodborne even Sekiro and didn't find bosses as HARD as bosses in Elden Ring and therefore... the bosses are... bad? I'm very worried for the future of souls games. I adore Bloodborne as the absolute GOAT though I do see it has problems too.
I mean, I just don’t find the base game boss roster of Bloodborne to be anywhere near as fun to fight as Elden Ring, Sekiro, or even Dark Souls 3. It’s not because I think the bosses are too easy. I just don’t find them fun. There are so many bosses in base game Bloodborne that I would consider unacceptably bad. One Reborn, Witches of Hemwick, Rom the Vacuous Spider, and (especially) Micolash are all terrible bosses. Micolash in particular might be my pick for the worst boss FromSoft has ever designed. I understand why people can overlook this and still have Bloodborne as their favourite since you can make the argument that the Art Direction, weapons, and DLC bosses of Bloodborne are good enough to make up for the lackluster boss roster of the base game. But as someone who considers boss fights to be the best part of any Soulsborne game, I find doing fresh playthroughs of Bloodborne to be quite tedious due to the amount of medicore and straight up bad bosses I have to get through in order to get to the really good bosses in the late game.
@@jameslough6329yeah, in fact, when I replay bloodborne I’m looking forward to the level design far more than the bosses. In the base game my favourite bosses are gascoigne, martyr logarius and gherman, the first two being A tier and gherman being easily S tier. Although i prefer SotE over the old hunters, in my opinion bloodborne NEEDED the dlc to show how high bloodborne’s level design and boss design can be at their best.
@@AlphaOmega-jh6ll I agree, but martyr logarius being an A tier boss is bullshit imo, I always hated that boss, it wasn't even that hard compared to some of the other bosses like Ludwig, Maria, etc. but I just found the whole fight tedious and annoying, mainly because of the first phase.
I also think Elden ring's boss design is really bad most of the times but it's not because it's "so hard"... Its just a bunch of annyoing attacks that the boss can spam till you die most of times.
My personal ranking is 1a. Dark Souls 3 1b. Elden Ring 1c. Bloodborne 2. Dark Souls 3. Demon Souls Remake (no opportunity to play the original, but I'm guessing I would place this last if not for the tremendous eye candy of the remake) 4. Dark Souls 2 (SotFS; no opportunity to play the original release) Disqualified because it's not a Souls game: Sekiro This is with having extensively played all the games over the past 2 and finished each multiple times. IMO, the top four games are all excellent, must-plays. If you're a fan of Souls games, the last 2 are must-plays as well. Sekiro is as similar to Souls games as AC6, which is to say, it's not the same genre, but it was made by the same company so you might like it. I liked AC6 enough to platinum it, but I only got about 85% of the way through Sekiro.
My ranking of the From Soft games I’ve played is: 1. Elden Ring 2. Dark Souls 3. Sekiro Shadows Die Twice 4. Bloodborne 5. Dark Souls III - Elden Ring has my favorite story, music, visuals, level design, and bosses in the series. It’s so impressive that you can play Elden Ring as an open world game, or a linear Souls game depending on how skilled you are. - Dark Souls has a world design that’s still unmatched. While it may not have better combat or bosses than most of From Soft’s games, I still believe it has more memorable moments and atmosphere. - Sekiro has the most satisfying combat in any game and the best difficulty curve in the series. - Bloodborne has incredible level design, but Old Hunters carries the game when it comes to its boss line up. The base game’s boss roster wasn’t great. - Dark Souls III has arguably the best boss roster, but also the worst level design. I don’t dislike the game at all, I just don’t like it as much as the four above it.
@@traktorholik did we both play the same dlc? the puzzling Sunken shulva, majestic eleum loyce and vertical Brume Tower? 3 of the best levels in the whole series, Sir Alonne being top 5 fromsoft bosses imo and yeah the runbacks are really bad but hey
Yeah man. I think I spent like 4 hours on Central Yharnam? BB was my first. Hell of a learning curve. 11 hours in and Bloodstarved Beast wrecked my shit time after time. At that point I just started a fresh play through and never looked back.
I personally enjoyed the chalice dungeons my first time completing it, I know most people despise it but I don't know, there's something about it that makes it probably my favorite optional content out of all Fromsoft's games. I guess treating it like a dungeon crawler and exploring every nook and cranny but also the atmosphere, aesthetic (especially the Isz chalice), some unique bosses and enemies that aren't in the base game, an actual story leading to a final boss, and TOO many other details and tid bits to list. But I do agree with your stance on depth 4 chalices, I thought cutting your hp in half was a slightly cool way to up the difficulty despite how artificial it is but the boss selection and hp make it extremely ass. do not ask why I went this hard on chalice dungeons on a ranking video
I don’t personally know anyone who plays from soft games, but I’m wondering. Does anyone else have this problem where I want to do all the npc side quests, but I feel like if I progress too far through the game I lose that quest, but how am I supposed to know that? I love that these games don’t hand hold, but I feel like I have to go to the internet for help. I don’t know that’s just a gripe I have.
I really love DS1, I feel like it is a well catered experience even more so than the other games, the limited options, lack of fast travel, and interconnected world weaves an impressive narrative with just the gameplay, which I feel can be lost in the other games where I fast travel all over the place between safe and dangerous places.
Amazing video! My ranking would be: 1- Bloodborne 2- DS3 3- Sekiro 4- Elden Ring 5- DS1 6- DS2 I havent played DeS because I only own a ps4 and all of the games are at least a 9/10 for me, except DS2 which would be a 7 because it just had horrendous enemy placement in the remake and bosses are way way way too easy
i personally think ds3 has a really nice set of areas. They feel short and sweet to me but have great exploration and enemy variety and i always have fun going through them. And for me the linearity is a massive positive making the game a lot more fun to go through on your first playthrough. When i played ds1, 2 and bloodborne for the first time i was constantly looking up where to go next because it's just so unclear but ds3 feels fast paced and like you're always progressing. Feel's almost like a final march to the end of the world. It's also got my favourite setting of the souls games, i love the apocalyptic setting showing the stagnation of the world. Dreg heap and slave knight gael's arena are some of the coolest locations I've seen in a game. The mostt underrated souls game in my opinion and my favourite game of all time.
People seem to confuse Level Design with world design. Ds3 undoubtedly has the worst world design of all the games (How the levels are connected with each other) but the individual levels themselves are probably the second best in the series (imo er is better level design)
@@Walrus5 for me, a world with branching paths doesnt matter because every time i play the games io just go the same intended way because it's more fun to me. and i dont really care for an interconnected world unless there's no fast travel. dark souls 3 being linear makes ther game feel more fast paced and less confusing to go through on your first time. and it also makes the game a lot more balanced. i get why people dislike linearity but i dont think the game can be faulted for it
This might be the first actual good ranking of these games I’ve seen. You go into depth very well on flaws of these games without cheap complaints. More importantly you highlight that all these games have very high strengths to them, which will appeal differently to players values. My personal ranking 1. Elden ring - I’ve just fallen in love with learning and experimentation with boss move-sets. The world is also very rich with ancient history which I love. 2. Dark souls 1 - this games world is very magical to me and I have very fond memories of exploring. This game’s story is perfect imo. 3. Dark souls 3 The boss fights in this game are incredibly fun, but I unfortunately could never get over how much I didn’t like exploring the world. It has a great story and perfectly wraps up the souls trilogy. I haven’t played the rest, but I’m looking forward to sekiro.
I LOVE Elden ring because of the sheer amount of variety in jaw dropping environments and dungeons. The vibes and the atmosphere of every new area is something to behold. From the beautiful skyboxes to the gorgeous ambient themes. I can confidently say that no other open world game has unique and varied environments.
Despite how much I do love Elden Ring, I kind of have some personal gripes with what it did. Because it became so popular among non souls players, all of a sudden people who try to suggest playing solo for a better and harder experience were being shunned with the whole "let me play the game my way" when a lot of them were being pretty friendly. I also really hate spirit summons, but for a different reason then most. When you summon someone, this is a real human your interacting with. You don't know how good they are, you don't know what they want, and you get that jolly sense of cooperation. But with spirit summons, every single time it's the exact same AI, it's just so boring and removes the original feeling. And my last thing might seem like a stupid complaint, but remember how it used to be the "Dark Souls Roll", or like the memes about stuff in all souls games in general, like "when you find a weird bloodstain in dark souls" etc. Well now it's the "Elden Ring Roll" and "When you find a weird bloodstain in Elden Ring". It seems stupid but it really pisses me off.
I’m new to this community tbh but I started off with elden rong and played them backwards I’m on dark souls for my first time and the same thing happened to me I ended up in the catacombs and had to text my friend who played this since the start I think I fuvked up
I would say my most impactful moment from the whole Souls series was my first encounter with Sif in Dark Souls 1. He was the first time in a video game that got me to really examine a boss fight from more than just a gameplay element. The atmosphere and music were unlike any other boss that came before and him struggling to move and attack when at low health really got to me. This actually got me into looking into his lore and from there my love for this series was cemented.
I went into Bloodborne as a complete Souls noob and I ended up spending ~7 hours in Yharnam before finally getting to father Gascoigne. Went back to fight cleric beast after finding out I’d missed him. Once I got the hang of the fight mechanics and enemy patterns, it got so much better. To this day However, I still clench my jaw thinking about fighting the two wolves on the bridge early on in my journey.
my first playthrough.... I did pinwheel first. I started playing with the mentality that if I can run passed all these enemies, there has to be something really good early. Then when I realized there was no fast travel I was left with a choice. Restart, or push forward. I chose to keep on pushing forward. It made the rest of the game so I beat almost every other boss my first try. My build was strength. I believe sword and Shield. Still, it's so funny to think about how my first playthrough went because of that small decision I made in the beginning.
my ranking is 1. DS3 2. Elden Ring 3. DS1 4. Bloodborne 5. DS2 I haven't played Sekiro I think Bloodborne is overrated still good but I don't care for the lovecraftian gothic horror themes of the game, DS2 is last because Shrine Of Amana,
I think its really hard to compare blood borne/sekiro to elden ring. Because they are both perfect, but dont offter to much. One setting, a few weapons, no real armor. While elden ring has like 1 million weapons and a world bigger than all other games combined. With this size its impossible to have the same lvl of quality. At the end its personal preference, and for me they are all on the same lvl 😅
As somebody who's favorite part of souls are the bosses, Bloodborne simply doesn't perform very well but it has multiple aspects where it surpasses all the other entries in the series to this day.
Agreed. Bloodborne has a really weak set of bosses in the base game. I only really liked Gascoigne, Cleric Beast and Gehrman the others were just alright or not good. There was a surprisingly large amount of gimmick fights that just weren't fun or underwhelming. That being said, the combat in Bloodborne is really smooth and I love what they did with the trick weapons. The atmosphere, level design and Lovecraftian aspects of the game is also top notch. Music is also only rivalled by Dark Souls 3
Bloodborne has by far the best level design imo. DS1 and ER have better WORLD design, but Bloodborne’s pure level design is unmatched. Also think Old Hunters gives just enough great bosses, atmosphere/lore/enemy design are all peak, and it deserves either #1 or #2 spot imo. Elden Ring has a lot of flaws, but also 130 hours of content or so, and a lot of build variety, great bosses, area variety. It’s hard to compare the two since they’re so different and I play them for different reasons really.
1. Dark Souls III 2. Dark Souls 1 3. Bloodborne 4. Sekiro 5. Elden Ring (Haven’t gotten my hands on DES or DS2 yet) These games are all amazing, and this is guaranteed to change. DS3: My play style in souls is skimming through areas, killing the boss, and coming back later. I mostly enjoy the bosses in these games and DS3 suits that taste. DS1: Do I really need to explain? 3:Bloodborne: Unmatched aesthetic, has my 2nd favorite souls boss (Maria) Sekiro: The combat. Thats it. Elden ring: Maybe Open world games just aren’t for me. I don’t like having 1 million things to do. Making a new character feels like filling out a checklist. Im also not the biggest fan of some bosses.(Malenia) I do admit, it is an objectively amazing game, just not my style.
My favorites: 7: Sekiro 6: Demon's Souls 5: DS3 4: DS1 3: Elden Ring 2: Bloodborne 1: Dark Souls 2 Played and beat Sekiro, but didn't really care for it, combat was very tedious to me. The Stealth and Jumping were nice. Demon's Souls was nice, but having to juggle World Tendency and playing at 50% life to do so was annoying. DS3 felt a downgrade in many areas, but its boss fights was an overall upgrade. Still a horrible glitch-fest though. DS1 good beginning but weaker 2nd half. The interworld connectivity and its grandeur was very welcoming. Elden Ring did a good job combining mechanics from previous games but it missed some really good ones. The poor balancing and unrefined multiplayer hurts it though. Bloodborne is near perfect outside of some quality of life choices, such as the Lanterns. DS2 was the most enjoyable game for me. It has the best Caster system in the series, plus the Balance and Multiplayer was solid. Its NG+ mechanics are unmatched. Note that these are ranked in experience of fun and replayability for myself.
@Battleguild thank you for not saying sekiro is outright bad because it gets on my nerves when somone calls something bad when they should say they dislike it Edit: did not realized that you put ds2 at one I thought it was ds3 3 great opinion I think it's overhated because it's still a great game
More recently I’ve noticed that BB and ER have the same amount of bad bosses but ER they’re not all back to back like in BB and it can be alleviated by exploring the open world. For sure DS3 has the most consistently good bosses hands down. I still have BB at number 2 behind ER but ima be for real I don’t know if I ever want to play BB again just bc of the bad bosses being in a row whereas I’ve beaten base game ER 4 times now.
@@AtomicZamurai I love BB it was my fav game b4 Elden Ring even tho I hadn’t played BB till after beating ER it’s just kinda weird that their goal was to make souls games faster yet they had bosses like Rom, Mikolash, One reborn and living failures Sony would be retarded to not try to make a sequel
The endgame isnt really THAT bad, its just kinda mid, y'all need to stop operating in absolutes. Micolash and Rom are really the only BAD bosses in the main game. Bed of Chaos is bad Dragon God is bad Four Kings is bad Ancient Dragon is bad Ancient Wyvern is bad One Reborn, Wetnurse and Moon Presence are _just mid._ Really not that big of a deal
1. Elden Ring. Best combat system, best bosses, and the best build variety. I really like how much freedom the open world gives you, in spite of its flaws. The new quality of life features such as the shortcut menu and the recent tab are fantastic. 2. Dark Souls 3. Mostly good bosses and good levels, and I love how smooth and fast the combat system is. Unfortunately, the build variety could be better, it's very linear, and it represents FromSoftware at their most creatively bankrupt with how much nostalgia pandering there is. 3. DS1. The interconnected world is really cool, and the slower paced combat has its merits with how deliberate it is. Unfortunately, the base game falls off really hard after O&S and most of the bosses and enemies are rather simplistic. The game also lacks a lot of quality of life features that would get introduced in later games, such as omni-directional rolling when locked on. 4. DS2. I think it’s a little underrated, I think most of the game’s level and boss design isn’t that bad. However, the base game has very few of either that I would call great. It’s also by far the slowest paced game in the series, with stamina and attacks taking longer to recover than every other entry. This combined with some occasionally frustrating boss and enemy design put it relatively low on the list. 5. DeS. DeS best attributes are its world and level design. The world design is very underrated, it’s second only to ER in how much freedom it gives the player to tackle challenges in whatever order they please. The level design is great, featuring levels that are to this day some of the best and most challenging in the series. Unfortunately, most other things about DeS fail to hold up to the other games in the series. The combat system is at its most unpolished, the build variety is lacking (There’s only one offensive miracle), and it generally lacks a lot of polish that got added over time. The gimmick bosses just aren’t engaging, and the conventional bosses are either very jank or very basic. I haven’t beaten Bloodborne, and I don’t consider Sekiro a soulslike, so that'll be the end of my list.
My top 3 would be Elden Ring > Bloodborne > Ds3. I think Sekiro has some flaws (gimmick fights, limitation of play style) that keep it out of the top 3 despite being a phenomenal game.
For me, no game will ever come close to DS1. The interconnectivity and lore make it a one of a kind experience that other souls games never managed to replicate.
@@teenagesilver6512 not at all. In fact I played Elden Ring and didn’t really enjoy it. I know im in the minority here, but it just felt like any open world game. Just like playing Zelda BOTW (an amazing game) all over again. DS1 is special and unique. Every single corridor, staircase or even enemy has a propose. Nothing is done for no reason. Open world games like elding ring just feel like a massive pool of empty space with repeated fights that dont really matter. Just my opinion of course, but for me elding ring would rank at the bottom of my list together with DS2 and demon souls with DS3, bloodborne and DS1 at the top.
@@SHB2000-p so you don't realize you are the victim of nostalgia, I see. I agree ds1 has it's magic, but so as elden ring, but in other way you know. We lived much less years to start to really adore elden ring's magic. For those who played elden ring for the first time, imagine how that was exceptional for them.
@@teenagesilver6512 to be honest I dont think so, but of course its a possibility. My point is that no other game (Im not sure why) has given me the same feeling that DS1 game me. Feeling completely lost and scared with no estus and finding a secret passage way with firelink music is something that no other game has come close to replicating for me. Again, just an opinion
@@SHB2000-p my first souls was ds3, and it was truly special when I couldn't beat even lothric castle, Vordt scared the shit out of me in any sense, farron keep, cathedral same shit. Bosses left so big impression that I didn't even realized when I joined the souls cult. It was the real first time magical thing that happens to me. Then my second game became ds1. I respect the "lost" feel, cause I had it too, but overall the second expirience was not that impactful as the first, so I liked ds3 a bit more than ds.
In general we may disagree on the souls ranking, but I think the vast majority of people can agree that bloodborne, elden ring and sekiro are the GOATs and it’s all down to preference
@@DreyfusLagooncompletely agree on your point, in fact, i like dark souls 1 not as a game, but as a work of art where the limitations of transport, the ambiance and the themes of holding to the fire in life and the concept of going hollow give an experience that has been unmatched by any other game i’ve played and I have gotten all the achievements in 3 different playthroughs with a couple of NG+. That being said, the game is kinda janky as fuck with varying levels of quality in bosses and area design so I prefer many other aspects of sekiro (8 NG+ and a no hit on all bosses excluding some boring ones), BB (5 runs and a NG+) and ER (10 runs and 8 NG+)
@@AlphaOmega-jh6ll fair enough, there is an important distinction to note when it comes to long term on the game because yeah I find zero reason to ever go back and replay that game. Beat it twice, got both endings, and left very satisfied. That being said, there’s hardly any build variety, the bosses don’t hold up to the modern day games, the game is actually pretty short once you know the game, and overall there’s less variance per playthrough on that game when compared to something like elden ring. But as I said no game has ever left me with the same feeling that game did. When it comes to my favorite game to replay it’s probably ds3. Because of the game being so linear I find it really satisfying to boss rush a playthrough sort of like a speed run but obviously not super competitively. The boss fights are just too good. Elden ring has equally as awesome boss fights but my main issue with that games bosses is that boss rushing it is extremely long and also extremely boring when you aren’t actually fighting the bosses. There’s just too much dead space in elden ring during repeat playthroughs that make it a total slog. Admittedly I’ve only played bloodborne twice, never played it until 2 years ago and the 30fps is just not it for me in 2024
Currently playing through ds1 for the first time, I’ve beaten elden ring twice and I wanted to experience everything. I’m like 6 hours in and even playing the remaster I feel like I’m being blasted back to 2011
The only consensus among souls fans is that Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 2 are at the bottom. The other 5 games are absolute masterpieces and can be placed in any order depending who you ask. Imo, Elden Ring is actually the worst of the 5, so the ranking AS INDIVIDUAL GAMES would go something like this: 7- Dark Souls 2 6- Demon's Souls 5- Elden Ring 4- Dark Souls 3 3- Bloodborne 2- Dark Souls 1 1- Sekiro (These last 3 are interchangeable really and another day I could give you a different order lol) However, the total is more than the sum of it's parts and I like to think of the Dark Souls trilogy as one thing, not 3 separate games. Viewed this way it is definitely number 1: 5- Demon's Souls 4- Elden Ring 3- Bloodborne 2- Sekiro 1- Dark Souls trilogy
Demons souls remake plays so much better than the original. That being said, I can at least understand where people are coming from that prefer the original. For me it was simply a better experience tho.
The remake ruined the atmosphere of the original and it’s a real shame because the quality of life improvements could’ve really perfected the original game
@@SINE382 yea I’ve read this same comment almost verbatim 100 times. I’ve played both several times, this sounds more like nostalgia than a legitimate gripe. After playing the remake , I would never go back to the original. But hey, if you prefer a janky mess bc of what you perceive as “atmosphere,” I won’t be the one to tell you you’re wasting your time on an inferior game.
@@whiskeybuddha1995 I booted up my PS3 right after beating the remake. It’s indefinitely more atmospheric, the remake soundtrack, lighting and redesign is horrible. They cut the tension from the game by changing and removing many of the above elements. I would’ve loved them to update the originals quality of life and left the rest well alone but no they had to make a generic dark fantasy game and remove almost all the horror and suspense from the original. I’ve kept my ps3 and original copy just to boot it up and replay it. Remake just doesn’t cut it
Ds3>sekiro>ER>BB>ds2>Des, in my opinion they are all great, if u say ds2 is awful, means u need change your POV and look at both, good features and bad, not only bad😮
Honestly played demon souls day 1 on release for the ps3 so what I like in a souls game seems different than those starting later in the series 1. Bloodborne 2. Dark Souls 3 3. Demon Souls Ps3( remake is shit) 4. Dark Souls 5. Elden Ring 6. Sekiro (don’t feel it should be compared it’s way to different) 7. Dark Souls 2 (vanilla) 8. Dark souls 2 scholar of first sin
i finally managed to get all the soulsbourne games cuz they went on a massive sale on ps store last week. loving DS 1 actually one of the best games ive ever played
Elden Ring may be my favorite, but I’ll never be mad at someone for ranking Elden Ring lower than first place. I will only be mad at someone if they rank DS2 higher than last place.
Great video! But bloodborne being number 1 is wild because having to travel back to the hunters dream every time you wanted to reset or travel somewhere different was horrible, it made the game so dumb
No game has ever made me feel so badasss for beating it like sekiro did. Although elden ring has harder bosses, the satisfaction you gain from beating sekiro's bosses is unparalleled.
True. Even their worst bosses (the witches, the emissary, the wetnurse...) are like... Inoffensively easy and they maybe drag a bit, that's it. The base game boss roster is not bad at all. Gascoigne is an all time great boss still, Gehrman as well for most people. Amelia is amazing, specially for the time in the game you find her. BSB, Paarl and CB are pretty memorable. The Shadows are still the best gank boss fight they've made. Logarius, Amygdala and Ebrietas are awesome and challenging. One Reborn and Rom are not my cup of tea but the atmosphere, boss design and lore carry them more than enough in order to make them unforgettable. And Moon Pressence is a nice little reward after basically finishing the game. Micolash was trash after NG+, but on my first playtrhough I absolutely loved it's fight, such an all time great troll move by FromSoft. Even most of the chalice dungeon bosses, except obviously the reused enemies, weren't as bad as people say. Abhorrent beast? Fucking cool and demanding. BLB? One of their best giant boss fights, it puts Fire Giant or Elden Beast to shame, for example. Both pthumerians are super fun. The defiled watchdog is an all time experience for me. Yharnam is so unique, she felt what Nassandra was supposed to be. Idk. Maybe I just like the game too much, but the base game roster didn't bother me at all. In fact, I would say only DS3 and Sekiro have better bosses overall than BB (ER main bosses are better overall as well, but ER also has like two hundred dogshit pointless bossfights as well, sadly).
1. Ds1 (coolest interconnected world and lore also the first one I played) 2. Elden ring (best build and enemy variety and ost visuals variety in general) 3. Bloodbourne (fun combat and cool world but base game bosses are lacking) 4. Sekiro (most consistent game combat wise but enemy and build variety is seriously lacking) 5. Demons souls (atmosphere is so good I like how you can choose between 5 worlds at once also shortcuts and world design make the most sense out of any of the games) 6. Ds3 (after replaying the game multiple times the first half is a slog and I have no attachment to the areas they are all pretty grey and bland and imo is carried by boss fights good ost tho) 7. Ds2 (a lot of cool ideas but so many flaws and 90% of bosses are mid, dlc was a lot of fun)
For me: 7. Demons souls 6. Dark souls 1 5. Dark souls 2 4. Bloodborne (because people overhyped it for me and base game bosses are mid exept final, dlc is great but for me game cant relay only on dlc) 3. Dark souls 3 2. Sekiro 1. Elden ring
Hey man, I really enjoyed this video. Here are mine if anyone cares. From favorite to least.... Bloodborne Sekiro ER Lies of P DS1 Demons Souls DS3 DS2 vanilla Scholar.
@@carlschrappen9712 It is a jack of all trades game. It does everything competently but doesn't excel at anything imo. For some that's a big positive but for me it just means it doesn't really stand out for anything. I play souls games most for the combat, atmosphere and exploration DS3 has been surpassed combat wise by both Sekiro and ER and it's levels and world are pretty lackluster. Anyway, I REALLY like all these games DS3 is still like a 9/10 game imo. It's just a bit lower for me personally.
@@BBQcheese Personally I value how DS3 is pretty competent in most aspects, and I have a higher opinion of it's level design than you do, but I can see where you're coming from. I'm just surprised to see it below DeS specifically, which is generally very unpolished and has what I consider to the worst boss lineup in the series.
@@carlschrappen9712 Sorry for the late response but I agree with what you said about Demons Souls but for me it just has a certain charm to it. The NPCs are my favorite in the series and the atmosphere is unmatched outside of Bloodborne imo.
DS2 is mid. But it actually has DLC and the DLCs (minus the horribly designed multiplayer areas) are some of my favorites areas of any FS games. I'd put all 3 in my top 10 areas of the series and I think only Earthen Peak is in any sort of contention for a spot in the main game. (Forest of Giants is intricately designed but I have a hard time giving credit to areas before you would normally have your build at least sort of differentiated) I only played the PS3 version though- which is base game + DLCs- apparently the best overall experience. I still think the biggest shame is that they spend so much effort on SotFS and apparently broke more stuff than they fixed. If they could have just focused in on the problems it'd probably end up better than at least DS1 (as that game also has its fair share of problems after O+S) I have no problem putting it far ahead of Demon Souls. Latria is great. Parts of Boletaria are good. Respect for going all in on the shitty swamp area. It wins a bit on atmosphere but it's just so jank compared to the later games. It's also super short. DS2 is bloated, but Demon Souls just feels like it's over in an instant. And no DLC either. If it wasn't the progenitor t'd surely have what amounts to 2-4, 3-4, 4-4, 5-4 and 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 as DLC.
Maybe I am in the minority, but I want more elden ring-esque games. I grew up on Zelda as my Action-Adventure game of choice, as well as playing dungeons and dragons. I didn't get into demon's souls when it came out since i didn't own a playstation, never have (also RIP to ever playing bloodborne until a PC port). I missed dark souls's release because it was when i graduated hs, went to college, and mostly stopped playing games for somewhere around 5 years. Around 2019 I got dark souls remastered on switch and ngl rage quit at the first demon because i didn't realize you weren't suppose to fight it with the broken sword and run by. Told myself i'll try it again one day cuz i was playing blind, didn't for years. Flashforward to 2022, i played elden ring with a friend and fell in love. Couldn't play for another 2 years until this last may and i put 300 hours in in a month and a half. I've down gone through and finished dark souls 1, 3, sekiro, and just bought dark souls 2 and am dreading it after my first hour feeling more like fable. I've also been trying other souls-like/AARPG games like lies of p, hollow knight and blasphemous (which i know ppl argue back and forth over their definition within the subgenre), outward, darksiders, kingdom hearts, monster hunter rise and world, breath of the wild (but not totk), and more. My point in all this, is I love elden ring's approach more than any of these other games. Why? Because of the mystery and large scope, the open world, and the worldbuilding itself. It feels like Magic: the gathering or D&D brought to life; like a dream fantasy game. It feels like Ocarina of Time for adults. I'll always have Volcano Manor burned into my head and how much it feel like a fully fleshed out Death Mountain. The cutscene with tje lava bridge raising is one of my favs despite its simplicity. I do hope they make more games like Elden Ring, but I imagine the next few games will be more akin to sekiro, bloodborne, and ds3: mostly linear with some side areas. Of the fromsoft games I've played that are not bound to sony's asinine rules, my favs in order are: Elden Ring > DS1 > Sekiro > DS3 > DS2. Might be controversial to put sekiro below DS1 but i only wish it weren't as linear as it is. It felt like I was running through hallways rather than a world. DS1 and Elden Ring capture worldbuilding in the way I like, harkening to worlds like Termina and Hyrule.
i might just be bad but spending multiple hours farming blood vials wasnt exactly fun, and i havent played the dlc but the base game was dissapointing if im being honest, a good portion of the bosses just kinda sucked ngl
Don't expect a BB2 or a BB remake as much as you and I would like. Sony is a business that knows a BB remake or 2 is risky and may not make them money. No BB patch for ps5 but don't worry though we got the Last of Us 1 and 2 remakes, oh Death Stranding 2 is coming soon as well awesome.
DS2 of all games actually spoiled NG+ for me. It was the first game I went into NG+ with and it set my expectations to that a lot of changes worth going into for were a common thing but it’s not sadly in most games
You know I am one of the few fans that really loved DS2. It was the most bullshit in difficulty and lacking for most of the bosses, but I keep finding myself missing this game more than the others.
The Clip at 6:50 is a reference to The Boys. TH-cam didn't like me putting a 3 second clip in this video, so I had to remove it. Sorry.

Top 3 includes Sekiro, Elden ring and also Bloodborne, I agree with top 3 being these games, time to watch the video
Lol same process. I would reverse the order here though.
@@noahdavidson1343 Yeah my top 3 would be Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Sekiro on top
Top 3 should be DS3, BB, and Sekiro. ER is honestly just a garbage version of DS3, with worse exploration and bosses
BB has really shit boss design outside of the DLC
It's actually funny that a Bloodborne fan complains about Elden Ring fans being "obnoxious"
They are to be fair lol. At least the pvp community is anyways
I agree
just say, your broken builds carried you over
I agree, I feel like in Elden ring I just leveled up enough to beat the bosses. I also liked the story telling more
If you want that accomplishment feeling in Elden Ring, you should do an RL1 run. It tops Sekiro for sure
This is a good list. I’d switch bloodborne and Sekiro, but I also think the top 3 are pretty interchangeable depending on the player’s preferences.
Gun to my head?
Ds1 > ER > DeS (PS3) > Ds2 > BB > Ds3
Objectivity is for losers
"triggereddd" jk haha. i'm also in the small club that would rank ds2 just over BB :') but the rest of my list looks totally different. they're all masterpieces tho
@@bjeurn2273 oh yeah I agree. They’re all unique experiences and I don’t think that you can necessarily even compare them for the purposes of 'is this game better than the other?'
If I was holding that gun, I'd pull the trigger with a list like that.
@@JBrandonMercer123 lmao
Yeah DS1 is actually my favorite as well lol. Respect for having a controversial list though.
It’s so interesting for the obvious top 3 because it’s legit just preferences like for me bloodbornes at 3 but my buddy’s list has that shit at like #1 or 2. I’ll basically always congratulate fromsoft for trying something new instead of copying and pasting a lot despite what others say
The obvious top 3 is Elden Ring, Sekiro, and DS3. Bloodborne is solidified at #4 though
S tier (gaming masterpieces): Bloodborne and Sekiro
A tier (amazing experiences): Elden Ring, DS3, DS1
B tier (pretty good games): DeS, DS2
These games are so good that their worst ones are still a B tier (at worst).
FromSoft needs to bring back the "cut off the boss's tail and get a weapon" mechanic. I spent hours trying to smack that ass!
My personal list:
1. Ds1
2. DS3
3. Elden Ring
4. Bloodborne
5. Ds2
6. Sekiro
7. Demons souls
This are all very personal and subjective. In terms of quality I think sekiro is actually their best game but I like the rpg nature of the other games more. It also wasn’t until last year that I had a PlayStation so bloodborne and demons souls were the last two games I played so that may have effected their placement
this is my list but with ds3 over ds1
Aside from the big standouts like bed of chaos. another "complaint" i would have about BB which was something i really felt my first playtrough is that a big chunk of the game really looks and feels the same if it comes to aesthetics. it feels like 80% of the game takes place in the same erea (even tho i know its not). i would actually say its kind of the same way sekiro's ereas also feel the same way a lot.
@@carlschrappen9712 Jup couldn't agree more.
DS3 also has the greyish colour pallet but the areas itself where different at least

Felt the same way. I didn’t understand why he spent so much time complaining about a chalice dungeon.
1- Elden Ring

4- Sekiro
5- Dark souls 2
6- Dark souls 1

Ds2 over ds1?
You haven't played dark souls 1
If Bloodborne gets a remake + pc Version I agree
At last someone that aknowledges that DS2 is better than DS1
“There’s nothing memorable about the witches of hemlock” yet they are always mentioned as worst boss in Bloodborne.
I hate how mainstream elden ring is because of the simpletons the game brought into the fan base
My personal ranking is
1a. Dark Souls 3
1b. Elden Ring
1c. Bloodborne
2. Dark Souls
3. Demon Souls Remake (no opportunity to play the original, but I'm guessing I would place this last if not for the tremendous eye candy of the remake)
4. Dark Souls 2 (SotFS; no opportunity to play the original release)
Disqualified because it's not a Souls game: Sekiro
This is with having extensively played all the games over the past 2 and finished each multiple times.

4. Bloodborne
5. Dark Souls III
- Elden Ring has my favorite story, music, visuals, level design, and bosses in the series.
Music and bossess in elden ring are mediocre and some of the weakest level design.

Fromsoft should do whst team ninja does in ng plus. The fact that they havent evolved ng plus by now is wild

I havent played DeS because I only own a ps4 and all of the games are at least a 9/10 for me, except DS2 which would be a 7 because it just had horrendous enemy placement in the remake and bosses are way way way too easy
i personally think ds3 has a really nice set of areas.
@@Walrus5 i agree that the individual levels are amazing but i feel like the linear world design has a lot of positives too and isnt necessarily bad
@Yive. Perhaps if Dancer was easier for first time players the game would feel less linear
@@Walrus5 for me, a world with branching paths doesnt matter because every time i play the games io just go the same intended way because it's more fun to me. and i dont really care for an interconnected world unless there's no fast travel. dark souls 3 being linear makes ther game feel more fast paced and less confusing to go through on your first time. and it also makes the game a lot more balanced. i get why people dislike linearity but i dont think the game can be faulted for it
@@Walrus5Sekiro is worse in terms of world design
This might be the first actual good ranking of these games I’ve seen. You go into depth very well on flaws of these games without cheap complaints. More importantly you highlight that all these games have very high strengths to them, which will appeal differently to players values.
My personal ranking
1. Elden ring - I’ve just fallen in love with learning and experimentation with boss move-sets. The world is also very rich with ancient history which I love.
2. Dark souls 1 - this games world is very magical to me and I have very fond memories of exploring. This game’s story is perfect imo.
3. Dark souls 3
The boss fights in this game are incredibly fun, but I unfortunately could never get over how much I didn’t like exploring the world. It has a great story and perfectly wraps up the souls trilogy.
I haven’t played the rest, but I’m
looking forward to sekiro.
26:14 out of everything this is the only thing that is wrong
I LOVE Elden ring because of the sheer amount of variety in jaw dropping environments and dungeons. The vibes and the atmosphere of every new area is something to behold. From the
beautiful skyboxes to the gorgeous ambient themes.
Spirit summons really did some damage to the game i can't believe that mechanic made it to the final version
I’m new to this community tbh but I started off with elden rong and played them backwards I’m on dark souls for my first time and the same thing happened to me I ended up in the catacombs and had to text my friend who played this since the start I think I fuvked up

Bloodborne goat forever
Nope.
Yup

Whether you like it or not Sekiro is the best game Fromsoftware ever made, a masterpiece through and through.

These games are all amazing, and this is guaranteed to change.
DS3: My play style in souls is skimming through areas, killing the boss, and coming back later. I mostly enjoy the bosses in these games and DS3 suits that taste.
DS1: Do I really need to explain?
3:Bloodborne: Unmatched aesthetic, has my 2nd favorite souls boss (Maria)
Sekiro: The combat. Thats it.
Elden ring: Maybe Open world games just aren’t for me. I don’t like having 1 million things to do. Making a new character feels like filling out a checklist. Im also not the biggest fan of some bosses.(Malenia) I do admit, it is an objectively amazing game, just not my style.

Played and beat Sekiro, but didn't really care for it, combat was very tedious to me.

BB > DS1 > SK > ER > DS2 > DS3 > DeS
Amazing ranking. I agree with everything. Everyone can feel different about games but ı am happy that ı found someone feels like me
For me, no game will ever come close to DS1. The interconnectivity and lore make it a one of a kind experience that other souls games never managed to replicate.
in other words, the nostalgia hits hard, otherwise you would pick elden ring
@@teenagesilver6512 to be honest I dont think so, but of course its a possibility. My point is that no other game (Im not sure why) has given me the same feeling that DS1 game me. In general we may disagree on the souls ranking, but I think the vast majority of people can agree that bloodborne, elden ring and sekiro are the GOATs and it’s all down to preference
Dark souls 1 is the most immersive to me and thus is my #1 choice.
Don’t know why I felt the need to state my lack of touching grass and social life in the previous comment lmao

The only consensus among souls fans is that Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 2 are at the bottom. The other 5 games are absolute masterpieces and can be placed in any order depending who you ask. Imo, Elden Ring is actually the worst of the 5, so the ranking AS INDIVIDUAL GAMES would go something like this:
7- Dark Souls 2
6- Demon's Souls
5- Elden Ring
4- Dark Souls 3
3- Bloodborne
2- Dark Souls 1
1- Sekiro
(These last 3 are interchangeable really and another day I could give you a different order lol)
However, the total is more than the sum of it's parts and I like to think of the Dark Souls trilogy as one thing, not 3 separate games. Viewed this way it is definitely number 1:
5- Demon's Souls
4- Elden Ring
3- Bloodborne
2- Sekiro
1- Dark Souls trilogy

Bloodborne boss fight❌️
Bloodborne camera fight ✔️

I'm just surprised to see it below DeS specifically, which is generally very unpolished and has what I consider to the worst boss lineup in the series.
@@BBQcheese Doesn't excel at anything? I disagree, it definitely excels in boss design and in my opinion atmosphere.

Sorry for the late response but I agree with what you said about Demons Souls but for me it just has a certain charm to it.
(Forest of Giants is intricately designed but I have a hard time giving credit to areas before you would normally have your build at least sort of differentiated)
I only played the PS3 version though- which is base game + DLCs- apparently the best overall experience.
I still think the biggest shame is that they spend so much effort on SotFS and apparently broke more stuff than they fixed. If they could have just focused in on the problems it'd probably end up better than at least DS1 (as that game also has its fair share of problems after O+S)
I have no problem putting it far ahead of Demon Souls.

Of the fromsoft games I've played that are not bound to sony's asinine rules, my favs in order are:
Elden Ring > DS1 > Sekiro > DS3 > DS2. Might be controversial to put sekiro below DS1 but i only wish it weren't as linear as it is. It felt like I was running through hallways rather than a world. DS1 and Elden Ring capture worldbuilding in the way I like, harkening to worlds like Termina and Hyrule.
Dark souls 1 is the best. It started it all for me and is timeless
My list for worst to best: Sekiro, Dark Souls 2, Demon souls, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1/3 tied for first
how come everyone has only good to say about darksouls 1 but doesn't rank it higher
*second half flashback*
17:35 Funny how you say this considering that I'm listening to this video right when I'm exploring the DLC areas in DS3 lol
That's awesome :)
The hardest game for all souls players is to find a maiden! I bet my Moonlight Greatsword how's reading this is maidenless just like myself.

1. Elden ring
i might just be bad but spending multiple hours farming blood vials wasnt exactly fun, and i havent played the dlc but the base game was dissapointing if im being honest, a good portion of the bosses just kinda sucked ngl
My list
1. Bloodborne
2. Sekiro
3. Elden Ring
4. Dark Souls 3
5. Dark Souls 1
6. Dark Souls 2
In no world is DeS better than DS2 lol.
How je talks about ER makes it sound like he wanted to put it in 5th place
