Just when you are persuaded you have heard them all, here she comes!! María is the perfect reason to revive the passion for violin.
Exceptional, I’ve been listening to this wonderful concerto for 50 years, Perlmann, Menuhin, Gitlis, Mutter, Szering, Oistrakh... this young woman of 20 years gives it to us with a depth and a sensitivity that pierces our heart...thank you to her to offer us this great moment of emotion.

My friend and I were discussing Ray Chen's performance of the Mendelssohn violin concerto. I then received this link from him. This is the first time I've heard Maria play. There is such accuracy and clarity in every note. She performed with such elegance and a smile on her face at all times. The value of this performance cannot be adequately expressed by 70,000 views.
Comparing Ray and then Hillary it’s like…Hillary is soft and precise and musical, Ray is a bit more intense but Marias intensity is just unmatched…I get breathless just from the beginning watching and hearing her play like I’m running
Maria Dueñas is great of course but sometimes I just hear energy in her playing and no diferent levels of intesity
Ray Chen got nothing on Maria. She's definitely the better one.
@@slowdown7276Her take on it really captured the youthful vibe - so innocent and touching. But Ray's version packs more punch and contrast. Honestly, both are awesome, it just depends on your personal taste.

I agree, even though I did not hear every interpretation ever recorded. I love that it's a bit slower than most of them, it helps me feeling every and each emotion conveyed by the melody.

Definitely the fiery passion from her Spanish heritage (a la Joaquin Turina) slipping through. It was the third time the phrase is repeated and it's as if she was saying "you didn't understand me the first two times? Fine, let me say it once more, but in my language!". Absolutely amazing passage
Her sound is amazing. She was a teenage prodigy. Now she's just pure delight on the ears.
This concert was in December 2020 and Maria Dueñas was born in December 2002. So she still was a teenager..!!
Dueñas has a clean sound, crystalline,unostentatius or superfluous elements, with an impeccable technique.
The result is a music straight for the heart,expressive, and very sincere.
A sound of her own, characteristic and inimitable,very nice to hear.

She is on another level of understanding of this piece that the orchestra and conductor are almost left behind in the wake of her energy and finesse. And that orchestra is very good, so that's really even more mind-blowing.

I saw you live in Colmar, I walked in 5 minutes before the concert started and had no idea who was going to play what. After I saw paganini's first violin was going to be played, I thought "this is going to be a fiasco"... but I was treated to the best concert I've ever been to and you played jaw droppingly good! I wish you all the best, you're already a living legend in my regard!

Perfect in every way! Maria Duenas is at one with her violin! She understands the music and performs the virtuoso in an amazing style! Very enjoyable to the very end! Mendelssohn heaven!
I know dozens of great concert violinists but it's always a great emotion to meet another one. I only met her recently. I define a great violinist when it is evident that he/she has become master of himself/herself. Certainly Maria Dueñas is a master of herself with great musical intelligence and with a unique expression a unique personal brand. Congratulations dear.

Last night I saw this young artist play the "Symphony Español" by Eduardo Lalo at Carnegie Hall. She was spectacular!
I wanted to learn more about her today and here she is playing one of my favorite violin concertos.
She is coming out with a recording on Gramaphone Records in May of this year, 2023.

María Dueñas era desconocida hace cuatro días, y hoy cuenta con 7.600 suscriptores. y dentro de sesenta años, seguirá llenando teatros con sus actuaciones, y generando muchas visitas con cada grabación para youtube. Le auguro un maravilloso futuro a esta chica, se lo merece.

La cultura de cierto nivel no interesa a la sociedad. Esta música era una diversión d las élites burguesas... y sigue siéndolo. Si haces escuchar esto a adolescentes actuales dirán: "quita eso", les aburrirá o les espantará. L fracaso no es d la escuela, q hace lo q puede, es la sociedad la q no valora la llamada música "culta". No hay más q ver qué valor se le da a la asignatura n los institutos españoles y qué se puede enseñar n ellos. Además, chicas como esta son como una oveja verde n un rebaño... ¿Qué joven conoce a Maria Dueñas? Prácticamente ninguno. Y esta música nunca será popular, fue, es y será música d élites culturales o económicas, al menos n España.

Se me pone la carne de gallina oyendo a mi paisana María Dueñas, pero al mismo tiempo me da mucha pena que en España no sepamos valorar el talento de jóvenes como María, salvo los amantes de la música clásica, es fácil de comprobar, casi todos los comentarios están hechos desde fuera de España.

No es que no se sepa valorar es que aquí simplemente no hay tradición clasica. Y al igual que en la sección de vientos somos de lo mejor, en la cuerda...te encuentras con suerte a un español en los segundos violines de las últimas filas...Aún así insisto que es por falta de tradición. No pueden valorar algo que ni saben que existe!! 😅😅😅
@@elquepasadeti Tanto como que no hay tradición... no lo tengo tan claro. Lo que hay diría es barbarie generalizada, comenzando por nuestras "elites", que es lo más deprimente, a diferencia de otras naciones, donde el común es más o menos igual de bruto e ignorante a pesar de la imagen que puedan dar (en unas cosas más que en otras, dependiendo del país), pero la calidad (intelectual) de quienes mandan es bastante superior y eso es lo que tira del carro. Ahora, en cuestión de cuerdas estamos de acuerdo, el "déficit" es más que notable, y eso que ahora no es raro ver por la calle a algún estudiante con el violín a cuestas, algo impensable hace dos o tres décadas. Paciencia. De vez en cuando hay suerte y nos sale un gran intérprete, el talento está repartido y surge donde menos se espera. Pero la maquinaria que se pone en marcha, como siempre, es la extranjera, lamentablemente. De todos modos, hace mucho que claudicamos ante los amos guiados por auténticos vasallos mendaces y rastreros. Triste destino para una de las naciones más extraordinarias de la historia. Para consolarnos, nos queda un poco de buena música.
Maria Dueñas es premio princesa de Gerona Artes y Letras 2023. El reconocimiento oficial ya lo tiene. Ahora, si la gente prefiere el reggaeton….

She delivers a brilliant performance. I wish the orchestra were listening more closely, it is just shy of amazing. One of those moments where the ensemble must play softer in order to hear her. She is perfectly clear in her playing. Brava to the Maestra!

María no interpreta música, sino que la vive, la hace suya y después la comparte con todos añadiéndole su alma, su arte.
