I actually prefer the Hilary Hahn version. They are both fantastic musicians, but for the Mendelssohn concerto, I prefer the version by Hahn. Just a personal preference.

That was absolutely and utterly outstandingly Beautiful, Stunning and Sublime…….Joshua you are really really so magnificent and fantastic in the art of being able to create your own fantastic playing and you are amazingly talented and clever too. I absolutely adore you and this piece of music. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤
One day I dream to play this concert like this! Joshua’s interpretation of the final is moving, his character is a milestone for every violinist. This performance of Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E has to remain in the history of music!
One of my favourites....reminds me of a very close friend who died in 2011. I used to only listen to a recording by Yehudi Menuhin, but now I love this interpretation too...
Amazing!👍👍👍 I think the entire concerto was awesome and my favourite part was the third movement where Joshua Bell really started to bring out all the expression of this concerto!
This a prodigy in full blossom! His musicality and interpretation is exquisite, sensitive and impeccable! Thank you Joshua my friend! Wendy Louise (Hall ) Musician
the best performance of this concert that I have heard lately. Joshua, bravo! You are a great violinist. Mendelssohn's style! You have hit the spot. Once again, bravo !!!
Not to take anything away from Bell, whose playing here is exquisite, the violin he is playing has a particularly exquisite tone as well. I'm sure it's a Strad or Guarneri or something way up there among the best violins in the world.
Mir ein sehr bekanntes und liebenswert Musik, ferner auch ein Gruß an alle Mitwirkenden,Musiziernden besonders den Geigenvirtuose . weiteres Dankeschön an Passion for Violin ❤❤❤❤Mit freundlichen Grüßen aus Schallstadt südlich von Freiburg Joachim Ehlers a
Его мастерство, эмоциональная насыщенность вложенная в концерт, выше всех слов,замечательная интерпретация, прочтение музыки,изумительный тембр, это невообразимо красиво !
It's fun and easy to write cadenza to performing violin concerto. However it's so hard to compose cadenza to violin concerto like Mendelssohn, which has a perfect cadenza on its own. The fact that Joshua Bell really managed to bring out his own cadenza to Mendelssohn violin concerto is just mindblowing.
A most emotionally moving and sensitive interpretation. Beautifully phrased and overflowing with heart and soul. Thank you Joshua! Wendy Louise Hall ( fellow musician, and personal friend)
Absolutely mesmerizing! Your performance Joshua was truly celestial, elevating every note to extraordinary heights. The passion and virtuosity displayed were simply breathtaking. Bravo! I wish to see you performing soon in concert in France. The orchestra plays in total harmony . Unique performance from Chief Orchester too. This video is my new reference for this magic piece of art, perdormed so magically !
I see here the wonderful influence of our beloved teacher Josef Gingold from the time Joshua was still in his youth (younger yet already playing better than the rest of us at Indiana.) The unspoken but well-understood Gingold challenge was obviously embedded in his heart: How extraordinarily sweetly do you dare to play? . . . The sky is the limit!
To clarify -- I disagree with those who dismiss the incredible talent of Joshua Bell. This piece features a great composer, a great violinist and a great violin maker.
I have come a long way to this point and right from the very beginning you my fans have been solidly behind me It’s been a landslide but we always pull through together, your love and support are amazing. Believe in your self you can always achieve your dreams Kindly tell me where you are from and also drop your email so you can be selected to lend your voice on my upcoming projects I love you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@potatodecimator131 of course more talent than him or me but that doesn’t mean we can criticize a players skill level. Compared to the top players today he’s probably at the bottom, not to say he isn’t good.
@@TacticalStrike Yes, but seeing as how ridiculously good soloists are today, like Hilary Hahn, Janine Jansen, Ray Chen, etc., being at the bottom of that pack is definitely not really a bad thing. Joshua Bell can clearly still play the Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky violin concertos very well (I actually prefer his interpretation to many others) with about as good intonation as any other world-class soloist.
Joshua Bell has always been an insipriation to me as im sure he has been to many others. I can hear how much his tone has matured even since his recording of this piece. Bravo music man! ❤
I believe that the very first time I listened to this music was a CD and it’s got Josh Bell’s picture w/ spiked hair. AFAIC Joshua Bell = Mendelssohn. I can’t imagine anybody else playing this piece.😂
Totally disagree. Joshua Bell is the world's supreme violinist. He interprets each concerto with the skill the composers would laud. Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, etc.
Joshua went once to the Subway in NYC, dressed very informal, and played his violin in the underground just for pleasure of the crowds in the subway. Who do that ?
26:58 I wish the orchestra had picked up Joshua's slow-down, as I think he intended to create more dynamics in the final phrases. Nevertheless a wonderful performance to make this timeless piece more modern.
Classical music is forver. It is food for my soul and will never get tired of it.
Sometimes I turn OFF classical music too.

he was so kind

Great, brilliant violonist! My favorite! Love❤
In addition to all the attributes of all great violinists, Joshua Bell has a friendly presence that is truly charming.
I heard him once, incognito, in Grand Central Station in NYC. My introduction to him. What a privilege!
