Спасибо за прекрасную музыку.очень жаль что по радио и по телевизору практически не звучит классика ,а эфир забит неинтересными муз. программами..когда я была школьницей мы с сестрой ложась спать слушали замечательную классическую музыку до 12часов ночи,когда радио отключало трансляцию.стех пор я очень люблю классику.еще раз спасибо.

I actually prefer the Hilary Hahn version. They are both fantastic musicians, but for the Mendelssohn concerto, I prefer the version by Hahn. Just a personal preference.

Not to take anything away from Bell, whose playing here is exquisite, the violin he is playing has a particularly exquisite tone as well. I'm sure it's a Strad or Guarneri or something way up there among the best violins in the world.
It's a Strad and a famous one having been stolen twice from previous owners.
I've never heard this first movement cadenza. Bravo!

Brilliant! I hear the Gingold sweetness in his tone.
It's fun and easy to write cadenza to performing violin concerto. However it's so hard to compose cadenza to violin concerto like Mendelssohn, which has a perfect cadenza on its own. The fact that Joshua Bell really managed to bring out his own cadenza to Mendelssohn violin concerto is just mindblowing.

@@TacticalStrike Yes, but seeing as how ridiculously good soloists are today, like Hilary Hahn, Janine Jansen, Ray Chen, etc., being at the bottom of that pack is definitely not really a bad thing. Joshua Bell can clearly still play the Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky violin concertos very well (I actually prefer his interpretation to many others) with about as good intonation as any other world-class soloist.

Totally disagree. Joshua Bell is the world's supreme violinist. He interprets each concerto with the skill the composers would laud. Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, etc.
In my opinion he’s too mellow for a piece like Sibelius Hilary Hahn’s version is astounding
