"Take me home!" "Whoa, whoa, whoa" "That was close!" "We can do this!" With those phrases you know Ryan is having fun. There were a couple of times, however, when I thought he may be having too much fun. This is another good point for giving him high praise for these videos: he does get stuck, but not for very long. And he always tells us how he is adjusting systems to give him a better chance at success. Keep 'em coming, Ryan!

Here in Dubai we have the same challenge with sand dunes. Reducing Tyre pressure to 12-14 is a must.
Another trick that I learnt was when you’re on a steep incline and flooring it like you were at the end of your video, if you sway your steering left to right and back about 6 inches in either direction, it gives the car more sway almost like adding to tyre track width. That has helped me get out of many situation where I tried everything and failed. Game changer!

I'm thinking about getting one of these. I don't go off-road but sometimes when there's a line at the shopping mall I'd like to be able to jump the curb to beat traffic. Sure, it's $100,000 more than the car I currently drive, but think of all the time I'll save.

While they’re excellent tires on almost any terrain, in slimy mud or clay those things load up instantly and have got me into trouble in the past.

All great vehicles, but I have to say one of my favorites for climbing a snowy, and/or slushy, 1/2 mile driveway in New England was the Mercedes' E class with the 4Matic traction control. No, the clearance wasn't as good but it worked through the snow like a beast.

My experience driving in deep snow has taught me the first thing that will stop you is the diff of a solid axle. Once that starts plowing the snow it just piles up in front of it until you stop. With IFS, usually its higher in front so the front tires can cut the hard snow and only the rear axle will drag in it. You can almost always back out and take another run at it (as you did.) With a solid axle in front you just build a growing wall of snow in front. Once the front starts dragging with an IFS its time to turn around (if you can.) PS I would have like to see what trail control would have done. In similar conditions with even harder snow, I could get by in 4Low with rear axle lock as long as I kept the speed very slow. I was driving on top of about 2 feet of snow. It was still dragging a bit but traction could keep me going. It was a surprise to find out ATRAC was useless in these conditions. I think its because the minute it applied the brake to a spinning wheel it would just stop forward travel. When you're driving on 2 feet of snow, the last thing you want to do is spin the tires and have them dig in. I would not have tried it with a Bronco because it weighs too much. My vehicle was 4100 lbs.

Beaut! I wonder, can you get full on snow tires in this size for this vehicle? Maybe Bridgestone Blizzak's or another brand? I bet with the softer, grippier rubber of full on snows, plus your airing down of the tires strategy, those two things combined would bring noticeable results. Just a guess, but makes sense to me, since all seasons or off road tires, either severe winter rated, and whatever the treat pattern, are still harder rubber than a true snow. Thus my question above. Give me full on snow tires and a good, flexible roof rack system for on top, whether on the detachable or permanent hard roof, assuming both are available, for ski's, kayaks, bikes, extra travel storage bins and such, and man I would love one of these things. Thanks for these reviews. Thumbs up!

What Ford need is to bring a descent PHEV version of both F150 and Bronco: driven exclusively by electric motors, leaving the ICE to only recharge the battery. This way they could slash the fuel consumption by several times, as the electric motors are way more efficient, 95% versus 25% of the combustion engine - also, vast amounts of instantaneous torque at low RPM. This also enables the ICE engine to be much smaller and operate at optimum rotation for efficiency and durability, with constant engine RPM. This PHEV implementation also enables to utilize a way smaller battery comparing to a BEV - a fraction of what the Lightning have, reducing both cost and weight.

That's why I see lots of Jeeps, F150, etc in the ditch with their "mighty" KO2 during the winter. I say hello to them on my Hakka 9 while they wait for a towing.
