    Bought my 2013 Golf R a year ago with 152k miles. Has needed a little work here and there, but the price was right, it was stock, and every option and color I wanted. 4door, Rising Blue, with KESS and sunroof. Added a Magnaflow CBE, have Euro lights, ECS Tuning Intake, a used APR downpipe, ShS coilovers all waiting to go on.
    Been daily driving an mk6 GTI for several years, added an APR k04/DP/IC to it last year, but the R is the one I plan on keeping long term.
    I do disagree about the car not needing a DSG. I love the DSG at stage 2 with a TCU tune in the GTI. Drove manual sports cars for 25 years(including a streetport FD3S, AP1 S2k, AE86 hatch, and two Supercharged C5 Corvettes with 560 and 800hp). Fun in certain situations, but if you live in a populated area with a lot of traffic, it gets old. And the older you get, the more the DSG will be appreciated. I'll be 44 in February. What's important for me with performance has changed recently. I'm researching a DQ500 swap out of an RS3 for the 6R. With Stage 2+ it should match up well(and If I ever go DAZA it'll REALLY match up well down the road).

      That would be a cool swap for sure. I think they should have made a version of the Golf with an RS3 engine…I’d put myself on a wait list for that. I’ve daily driven automatic cars for probably the last 7-8 years so it’s fun and exciting to drive stick again on a regular basis (especially considering how rare stick shift cars are becoming). I plan on doing some mild mods with the R in 2024, but honestly I enjoy it so much as a stock car I’m constantly tempted to leave it as is as well…just because mods tend to spiral out of control quickly

    My mk6 Golf-R is a first vw for me. I was hesitant, but went forward with the purchase anyway; bought it new. Still have it. Still love it. Been living with an APR 2+ tune for about 4 years now. No an instant of regret in going that route. Only one ce light: replacing the gas cap gasket fixed that issue. Not roasting the OEM clutch has made it stand up to the tune quite well. Then, mine is a low mileage car;

      That’s great to hear. Mine has been solid for the last 9 months with only minor things needing repairs. It is still stock and a blast to drive and enjoy. When the stock clutch starts to give up on life I will likely turn to an upgraded one and throw power at it. Either way, I am very happy with my choice to buy the car and its nice to be back in an R again.

    44 yrs old?! You are a youngster. I'm 76 and even though the auto Golf r is faster to 60 my 6spd manual r makes me feel like I'm part of it's performance and my skill (or lack of such) is part of that performance.

      I would take a 6 speed over an auto all day. Just traffic sucks

    A little over a year ago I bought a 120,000 mile 2018 Golf R, it now has 150,000 miles and I LOVE IT. Stay on top of services and a vw will take care of you

      Yes sir! Most people see that as a bad thing when you have no sunroof haha...it may be in this cars future to be the main autox car

    Just met a same condition car few days ago.. it is also a high mileage mk6 r (about 180000km/115000miles), one owner and fully dealer serviced, I’m kinda hesitate between this or a lower mileage mk6 gti(about 120000km), can you give me some advise?

    • @LOLTires
      @LOLTires  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly it all depends on how it was taken care of. I’ve had zero issues in 6k+ miles but the car spent its whole life being maintained at a dealer. So if someone took care of it and stayed up to date. It should be as solid as mine has been. One thing I always worry about is mods. If it’s been modified it opens up a whole new sea of potential problems

      @@LOLTires ohh, thx 🙏 it is also a bone stock r, so i think it probably should be good as yours. Thank you!

    I am between 100k km golf mk6r or golf mk7 gti 99k km. I can't decide. What's your suggestion?

    • @LOLTires
      @LOLTires  ปีที่แล้ว

      The R is a completely different experience. You can’t beat AWD. Although the mk7 GTI is on the mqb platform, which is far more superior, the R provides a different driving experience. Especially if it rains or you live in an area that snows. The R is also more exclusive so there is that too, a smaller and much closer community. In my personal experience (owning a MK4 & MK5 R32 in the past) I looked for only an R, I didn’t even consider a GTI. It all comes down to what you plan to use the car for

      Running strong, put about 5k miles on it already. Had a fault come up for idle position but haven’t been able to duplicate the issue.

    You cant really change the lenses.. you may have to replace the whole housing. If you are buying new housings, make sure you look for oem euro housings, as they come with black bezels. Its way sexier..
    Also, euro oem led tails are a must!
