Something underrated imo is the travel portal They usually suck and are overpriced, but Capital One has a nice UI and more importantly, price match So you are actually guaranteed that 10x or 5x back on what you buy. So you can actually tack up points on not just everyday purchases
The Capital One travel portal is for real! I’ve booked a trip and gotten $20 in credit from price drop. It’s a solid redemption rate. Great that you can buy in cash and pay the purchase off with points as well

I've seen better prices on kayak, expedia, etc. They do price match if you find one within 24 hrs of the purchase BUT everything has to match. What do I mean? For a hotel booking that I did, I meet most of criteria except for 1, the refund date. Expedia let say was allowing full refund up to June 5 but Capital One has June 10. Sorry, not match.

Cell phone insurance only works if you have a postpaid phone plan. Which is usually more than twice the prepaid plans. That's how they get you. You probably will pay much less if you purchase phone insurance separately and get better service. So it's worthless to me. I just use a Chase free card for my bill for the Insuramce
It's up to you. I value the welcome bonuses that comes with starting a fresh application. Thats where you earn the vast vast majority of your points. However, the Venture X is a unique card that has such good value I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessity to grab the welcome bonus (compared to some other cards where if you're not getting a SUB the card is kind of weak.)
For the travel partners with Capital 1, do they have any airlines that fly domestically? I want to get one of the Capital 1 credit cards but only interested if the points go towards domestic flights and not international.

I still think the Venture X is the best travel card for the money so getting that locked down makes this a great duo.

If you choose actual money and pay for the item with your Venture X, you'll get 5X-10X miles back on the purchase. Then, when that purchase settles on your credit card statement, you can go back into your Capital One account and "Cover The Travel Purchase" with Miles (1CPP) to remove it from your statement. So, in essence, you will have gotten 5-10X in rewards for the purchase (really great) but used existing Miles in your account to go back and erase the purchase so it didn't cost you a single cent!

For example, if you have Capital One miles and go into the travel portal and use your miles to buy a hotel stay for a few nights, you don't earn any rewards on that transaction. Hey Collin - the Venture X will be treated separately from your Capital One Platinum card and you will likely need to apply for it as a new card. It's important that you do not close out your Platinum card! Keeping that credit history is VERY important to your credit score as a big factor in that is the average age of your credit profile. If you closed that out you would lose that and your score would drop. Additionally, the Venture X requires excellent credit, so I would only recommend applying if you've had your Platinum card for over a year or two and you have a credit score over 700. If not, it may be a good idea to continue building your credit. If you have that credit score and feel comfortable applying, we'd love it if you used our link and supported the channel! No they do not. This is one of the biggest downsides of the Venture X / Capital One

How would the cell phone protection work if I have 4 phones on my phone bill?
They're all covered. However, I think you can only process 2 claims per year up to $800 per year in claimed value if there are accidents.

Unfortunately since June 23, 2024, Venture X holders do not get 6 months free to Cultivist. It looks like now it’s 50% off for 2 years instead.

This is a Visa Infinite card, so you'll get the same worldwide acceptance as all other Visa cards. So pretty good!
When putting spend for a welcome bonus do you have to pay off that spend immediately in order to receive a welcome bonus?
Nope. When I hit my Venture X welcome bonus, it gave me the rewards points as soon as I crossed the spend number.
