Can confirm travel portal price matching has been very easy and straightforward. Used it several times successfully for varying amounts up to $300 which is issued as a travel portal credit instead of a statement credit unfortunately. Have not used/received the price drop protection $50 benefit yet.
Just applied and got approved for the Venture X! I'm excited to check it out and take advantage of the great welcome offer with some upcoming travel coming soon. Thanks for the input and inspiration. I started thinking more about credit cards in august after watching your videos and started with the Savor One after 5+ years of the same two cards I first started with.
Capital One is so frustrating. My wife and I have had the Savor and Quicksilver forever so we have like 300k points with C1. But, neither of us can get approved for the Venture X despite having great credit and several accounts with C1. But, we just got the CSR and it doesn't make sense to have 2 expensive travel cards at the same time. So maybe I'll try to just get the regular venture so I can still transfer my points.
It’s possible that I’m not entirely sure, but if you have high credit utilization in the past six months, most companies deny your application. My uncle used 90% of his credit limit, but he managed to reduce it to 2% in the past two months. He tried applying for different cards, but he was rejected in all cases.
That’s weird. Personally, I don’t like the C1 card as much as the CSR. Twice I tried to access the C1 lounges. The first time, Denver was closed, and the second time, IAD was so overcrowded it was unpleasant. I do like how easy it is to apply points to travel purchases as well as some of the other features, but I’m downgrading to the Venture-same points per purchase and just as easy to apply points to travel purchases. I don’t need their weak lounge network or their $395 annual fee for what they offer (or don’t offer).
I got my Venture X in September and love it. I travel a lot within Asia and the lounge access is already worth it. I am relocating back to the states so used the 300 travel credit to book our flight back. Overall this card is awesome. Another banger video man! ❤❤❤
The benefits with National car rental and the lounges are amazing! Family and friends trip out that I bypass the lines and get a choice of pretty awesome cars.
I had a 770, 11 accounts open, no history with C1 and was instantly approved with 20K limit a year ago. I had no new accounts in 7 months prior to the application. I was astonished with the rumors going around about how difficult it is to get approved. I guess 11 accounts isn't enough for C1 to give you a denial.
Their transfer portal is solid. Price matching is easy. I also had to cancel a hotel once after the non refundable period had past. The capital one agent called the hotel and got them to refund me my money anyway. I was shocked how they went the extra mile for me
I just cashed out 124,000 capital one miles on virgin Atlantic for our Europe trip next year: 36,000 for both of us for premium on the way out, and 88,000 for first class on the way back. they have some crazy deals going on right now. 27,000 points for first class!
Another awesome video! I would like to add, although there aren't a lot of Cap1 lounges, the PP lounge access gets you into many other lounges. I've gotten into lounges in Panana City, Panama, Rome, Italy, ORD and SFO. I love my Cap1 card!
I really need a good video on venture x travel partners. I can’t figure out how to use them so I just booked my flights and hotels through the portal several times. I think that the portal is pretty solid because they price shop for you but I would like to compare it against transferring to travel partners.
Most people are also going to use the TSA credit the first year. If you are thinking about this card for lounge access find the way on the app to get on the waitlist and check wait times or your first visit may end at the waiting area.
I like the $395 annual fee that comes with $300 travel credits and 10k annual bonus miles, what I don't like is their limited travel portal. I've priced out some international flights but some airlines are not listed compared to Chase. Also, the points are only good for traveling, and maybe some transferred miles depending on the bonuses which is also very limited. I was going to cancel my CSR card when I got the VX card but I've decided to keep both since CSR gives you a lot more even when the annual fee is higher, points are essentially more useful.
Mann I value Chase because of the hotel transfer partners but most importantly the domestic flights since I travel every year across the country to visit family and friends. I won’t fly internationally until 2026ish. That’s the main reason I need Chase but their multipliers aren’t as good as the capital one savor 😭
good video. the c1 duo is definitely underrated, especially since you’re effectively being paid $5 a year to hold the VX lol. C1 travel setup is basically free if you use it right
I have the little brother duo with the VentureOne and Savor. I know its not like the Venture X but its a good setup. Like you said eventually they start to take things away so I will just stay with the no AF setup.
I got the Savor first, got a credit increase and then applied for VX and got approved immediately. Idk how that happened. But it probably helped to earn a decent living. I feel these are the only 2 cc’s I need. I have authorized users for both cards as well. But thinking of getting a Marriott Bonvoy for the great benefits and options. Any thoughts?
Holy shamoli. I was just looking into this because I'm a Chase customer and have Chase Sapphire preferred. My credit score has skyrocketed up up to the high 700s and I'm trying to figure out how to diversify my credit card portfolio. I was considering the X. I'm also considering the Amex preferred. Very difficult to figure out what direction to go in. Your videos have helped me quite a bit and this is rather serendipitous.
I have the Venture Card instead of the Venture X Card, but I have been able to use the Venture Card in the Capital One travel portal I got travel credit when the price dropped twice within the 10-day period after booking a ticket
People tend to love the Chase travel portal and I think it is good, Citi seems to be the worst and Amex outside FHR is ok. One thing capital one travel portal has for flights that I seen is more access to local airlines when traveling over seas. Check flights with in Australia, Europe, or Asia. Example Indonesia, i can fly direct flights with local airlines and save 100s of dollars on tickets and save hours of your time with direct flights. Amex and Citi dont have the options, chase may or may not have a selection.
I made the Cap 1 X card as my go to credit card. It's been working well for me. Marriott Bonvoy, Delta AMX, AA Citi points been devalued so much, they are really not worth using any more. One perk for us that in airports including Europe, you can use your Priority Pass membership. Not the best lounges but will let you get away from the hustle of the airport on layovers. One issue I have (and can someone help or know a trick) is booking flights. We like booking business/premium/plus seats, but it does NOT always let you select your seats. Seats will be assigned at check-in. I don't want to pay extra for better seats and get stuck in the back of the plane by the toilets! Also, paying for the flights, hotels after booking on your next statement before I have the opportunity to use/enjoy them. But the points are available to use upfront if needed.
The thing with price matching travel bookings is that you have to actually be showing *public* offers for the *same* fare type. Most of the time when you see a better price, it’s not technically for the same fare and/or it requires you to log in to an account to redeem the price. Amex and Chase are pretty strict on this, but Capital One also looks at this closely.
I would love Capital One to open a Lounge in Philly as it is my primary Airport. I do hear that Chase will be opening one in 2025 So I may end up with the Sapphire Reserve Instead. I tried the C1VX pre-approval tool and it said that I am good to go but I want to know how accurate it is because it would suck to get 3 hits to my credit and wind up with a denial.
I work remotely and travel to my HQ (east coast to west) 4-8 times per year. That puts me at 10+ visits at capital one lounges with this card. I've recouped the annual fee on this card in those lounge visits ALONE. Everything else (especially 2x miles/$) is pure profit. I cannot more strongly recommend this card if you travel for business.
Hmm i travel from west to east multiple times a year for family and friends but capital one doesn’t have domestic transfer partners for flights. Can I still book southwest flights on the capital one portal? That way I’d be able to get points back too.
Daniel, thanks for this video! A question for you: If you were able to get approved for the VX card, do you think it would make sense for you and your wife to hold a card individually, paying 2 annual fees, but getting double perks? Or does it make more sense to keep 1 person as the primary card holder and then continue yourself as an authorized user?
You mentioned it in the video, and i think it is a major deciding factor for some: the simplicity in having a catch all 2x points card on all categories at minimum
The reconsideration thing bugged me. Granted i was talking to a person, there was no person involved in my reconsideration. She just hard inquiry ran me again and of course i was auto denied for the same thing as the first time. Of course if you run it through the same computer you'll get the same results!!
My wife has Savor and I am wondering if she should get VentureX or VentureOne just to convert Savor rewards to miles. If I am an AU on a Venture family card, can i transfer miles to loyalty programs in my name?
You have to visit the DFW longe these days. It’s is SO OVER CROWDED, wait times can last hours. It is so unbelievably crowded, I decided to cancel my venture x card.
Got approved with 11 cards and only 3 years of history (but didn't have any hard inquiries for more than a year). So it's a myth. I like Capital One portal the best, I find it more user friendly. One thing though, is that in hotel booking sometimes when you are about to proceed to the last step, a window will pop up saying the original rate you selected is no longer available and will rise. Price match is great though, I used it once and no issues. They said they'll take away the credit from price match if you change your reservation, turns out they won't, so that's a bonus.
I dislike the coupon as well but for a different reason. I often book travel that's reimbursable through my work. I can't use the C1 travel portal for this if I want to use the coupon/credit, because I won't get reimbursed. If it was the old way, I'd use the VX for that travel. In effect, it makes the credit only viable for personal travel for me.
Wish C1 would have 1:2 to Choice rather than 1:1. Choice is a decent especially for more budget stays, but it'd be better to transfer from WF or Citi given that they have more earning categories and have that 1:2 transfer ratio.
Capital one wanted a copy of license I sent it to them. They said it was too blurry. I just ate the hard inquiries. Probably was going to be denied. I have 800 plus credit score but have 10 cards. I got the CSP instead.
About the price matching on hotels if you find one within 24 hrs...it's a great idea BUT the catch is everything has to match. I found one on a travel site, about $50 cheaper. Sad to say I didn't the price match because on C1, the refund date was lets say Dec 20th. On the travel site, it was Dec 15th. YES, when they say everything, they mean everything. Sucks but super nice customer service though.
whats weird is i was denied the first time then i applied for 2 more credit cards after then 2-3 weeks later i was approved for the venture x with a credit score of 738.
I just got this card a few months ago. Agree. Annoying to book through cap one travel but i did get a 40 credit on a flight to nyc through the 10 day price check thing. Just got an email out of the blue. Now i had to use it with one year so luckily i was needing a one night hotel stay a few months later. One negative about their site was i booked a hyatt in nyc and it was much cheaper to book w my hyatt rewards (the free program u sign up for) than via cap one travel. Like 400 dollars cheaper. Could i have asked cap one to price match that? I didnt use points just paid out of pocket. I didn’t know they did 24 hr price match. I was only aware of the 10 day flight price check (though i did not know it was capped at 50 so thanks). Sometimes it feels like a full time job to keep up with the best options!!!
I love their lounges when I can get to one, but their points are meh. They rock for P2/P3 priority pass lounge access. The Duo is my international travel setup for no FTF and decent earnings worldwide. Other than that it's a burn the credits and sock drawer the card. I love the USBAR as a daily driver.
Amen to this. Been using capital one for 8 years. Had a problem and they did a terrible job at resolving it so I opened a CSR yesterday. Cant wait for that baby in the mail. And the chase cs agent that I spoke to actually spoke fluent English and actually helped me.
I tried it a few times over a year, first time it said pre approved I applied and was instantly approved. Ironically the tool for all the other cards only gave pre approved for the "good" credit version with no subs
@@Adiscretefirm Yea, the Venture X has it's own separate pre-approval tool which is what I used. It does not show up on the main Capital One pre-approval tool.
@@bpweber yeah I have had a QS for years, they gave me a VX, but the pre approved tool has never shown the approval for the cards with a sub. But they say I can have another worthless QS if I want. Yay?
I just got the SavorOne (now Savor) last month, & got stuck with the "good credit" version, with no sign-on bonus. Like you, I called customer service, & they were completely unwilling to reconsider their decision. I think you should do a video on a person's options when they have this happen to them. Should I just cancel the card & re-apply later? Product change it to another card of their's that has no sign-on bonus (a card that I probably don't even want)? Thanks for your consistently great content.
I'm threw wit cap credit cards..830 credit and denied for savor turned right around got the boa custum 0% everything 15 months 20k limit..just giving a suggestion 😁
I’ve also got denied, even though I have an 800+ credit score…they said I got denied due to having too many credit lines, similar to the letter in the video…
I was flying through DFW and stopped by the lounge and was denied due to overcrowding. When I stated I was on a short layover and just wanted to get the ready-to-go snacks I was still denied. That’s only one experience and I’ve been fine all other times but I was certainly disappointed not to even get access to the to-go options.
What do you think about the chase trifecta, plus the bilt rewards card, and amazon prime visa. Living in the Bay Area, although Amex has better multiples, united and southwest as travel partners make me lean towards chase. What do you think? Does location matter?
Cap one seems like they had rather have people that don’t pay there cards off so they can make more money. I am not a fan of this at all. I’m just like you over 800 credit score got 1518 accounts all of them 100% paid in full 100% of the time I just applied for a prequalification for this very card you’re talking about and I did not qualify for it. I did not do a hard pull on my credit because I was afraid to, instead applied for a chase, sapphire, preferred, and got the card.
I got my venture x few months ago and I love it I got approved at my first application, 2 points per dollar on everything is way more important to me that 4 times on groceries and dining on gold card. So far so good and am going to Dallas next week am going to try one of the capital one lounges in Dallas airport. I have both venture x and Amex platinum.
I think Wyndham is an underrated transfer partner. If you have a family to take advantage of vacasa or you’re going to a big resort city like Vegas, Atlantic city, etc. there is a lot of great value
Thank you, Daniel. Good overall on the Cap One VX. Still on the fence with this one. Have CSR & Amex Plat. Not sure I want to add another card. Difficult now to searching for best deal/value. LOL
I value Chase the most and look forward to their domestic flight transfer partners as I travel across the country multiple times a year for family and friends but Chase doesn’t have the multipliers that The Chase savor does 😭 Amex Platinum looks amazing but I don’t wanna change my lifestyle up and think too much. I love the silver look too. Might end up trying to get Capital One duo. I want Chase Reserve but if I get the preferred soon I can’t get the reserve sign on bonus. IM STUCK 😭
I have this card and I like the lounge benefits, but I wish travel purchases could be made outside the portal. I’m an airline pilot so I get free flights, and stay at Hilton’s and marriotts mostly on vacations and it’s annoying they aren’t travel partners. My only real use of the miles is reimbursed travel purchases. But for the annual fee it’s really hard to beat.
@@newagain9964Name me another card that pays you to use it. $395 fee and you get $400 off the bat via $300 travel credit and 10,000 anniversary points. Chase charges $550 and leaves a $250 delta unaccounted for between that fee and $300 credit. It’s the best card if you can get approved, just hard to get approved with how brain dead C1 is at times.
It’s a crap bank, and pretty much a crap card. Yes, 2x is interesting, but 3 bureau pulls, bad transfer partners, and a completely bonkers approval process just makes me stay far away. Not that far, because my brother-in-law made me an authorized user, and I live in Denver. I’m happy to take their food and leave a poop on their plumbing.
Travel partners are horrible. I don’t live by a major city, so using travel partners for domestic flights is not reasonable. Hotels partners are also garbage.
Price protection is a gimmick. It didn't work for me. Most of these features are a gimmick. The Venture X looks good on paper, but you gotta jump through hoops with them. Capital One has terrible customer service, and everything is a fight with them. If you don't mind arguing with bottom tier indian customer service agents then maybe you'll get some value. Capital One is a huge pain the ass. I've had consistent problems with them. Venture X is for points and miles power users. I would never recommend them for casuals.
Capital One is never a bank I would get a card from in a million years every time you turn around in New York there is another Branch closing are you here about them taking away important benefits unprofessional and pathetic American Express and Chase all the way!
I would like somebody to do a video on how American Express rips people off on the $200 hotel, fine hotel and collection, hotel credit, if you look at booking through another source, it’s usually way cheaper to book through another source than to go through American Express they add that cost on when you book through them so really, you’re not getting nothing
That hotel credit is over powered and one of the best credits the Platinum offers. You have to hunt for the deals but it's worth it. I stayed at the Thompson in Manhattan, Waldorf Astoria in Versialles, the Bristol in Warsaw easily getting a night free at each of those places along with room upgrades, free breakfast, and $100 food and beverage credit.
@@LukesPointsandMilesprepaying 695 for flights (200), Uber (200), and entertainment (240) means I only need to get $55 worth of value from the $200 hotel credit to break even. And that’s putting no value on the $100 Sacks credit or the $150ish Walmart+ credit. Nor the lounges. Granted, entertainment is probably worth 120 to me, but Sacks is worth 50ish. I don’t know how to value the offers, but I’ve got $330 this year. It’s a coupon book, but it’s providing more value than I pay up front.
Can confirm travel portal price matching has been very easy and straightforward. Used it several times successfully for varying amounts up to $300 which is issued as a travel portal credit instead of a statement credit unfortunately. Have not used/received the price drop protection $50 benefit yet.

That sucks. Denial when you have good credit and a good relationship history is not easy to stomach and understand.
Yo I’m giving out free methods and I pay off maxed out credit cards 💳
Hmu if interested!

Portal match pricing was not seamless for me. They denied my request due to Expedia’s reservation having a no cancellation policy. Stupid!
Hey Daniel, please do a video on the founders card.
I like (a couple of) the cards. Really dislike their approval process
Wyndham is valuable in SE Asia, Accor is valuable in Asia and Europe, so different partners other than the 3 big AMERICAN hotel is good.
Wish C1 would have 1:2 to Choice rather than 1:1. Choice is a decent especially for more budget stays, but it'd be better to transfer from WF or Citi given that they have more earning categories and have that 1:2 transfer ratio.
I can't get pre-approved for the regular Venture card. I have great credit and a former Venture cardholder also (6 years ago) but can't get it again!
Man your VX sure held up well mine is falling apart after a year.
Fr. Mike began peeling after 6 mos
@@newagain9964 I used it to pay for parking in one of those card slot parking machines and it took the paint off the entire top part
1:58 from what i heard.. you arent the target customer.. they like people with balances
whats weird is i was denied the first time then i applied for 2 more credit cards after then 2-3 weeks later i was approved for the venture x with a credit score of 738.
If I was starting over I’d simplify everything with the capital one duo and a capital one high yield savings account
CapitalOne's customer service is horrendous.
Amen to this.
Been using capital one for 8 years.
Had a problem and they did a terrible job at resolving it so I opened a CSR yesterday.
Cant wait for that baby in the mail.
And the chase cs agent that I spoke to actually spoke fluent English and actually helped me.
Hey how accurate is the C1 pre approval tool for this card? I just got pre approved but want to make sure before I submit my app
I applied right after using the pre-approval tool and I got it with no issues.
I'm threw wit cap credit cards..830 credit and denied for savor turned right around got the boa custum 0% everything 15 months 20k limit..just giving a suggestion 😁
great looking watch, what is that?
Omega Speedmaster
Thanks! And yeah the other comment got it - Omega Speedmaster
does anyone know if capital one miles will transfer at for example 10k miles to 100 dollars IF you also have the Savor card?
I’ve also got denied, even though I have an 800+ credit score…they said I got denied due to having too many credit lines, similar to the letter in the video…
I was flying through DFW and stopped by the lounge and was denied due to overcrowding. When I stated I was on a short layover and just wanted to get the ready-to-go snacks I was still denied. That’s only one experience and I’ve been fine all other times but I was certainly disappointed not to even get access to the to-go options.
Cap1 nerfing lounge benefits. Who would have guessed??!😮 😂
Same happened to me. Ended up just doing P2 with dw too. No shame 😂
Priority pass for partner lounges changes in 2025😢
That is actually Daniel Braun from the future
*Looper Vibes
What do you think about the chase trifecta, plus the bilt rewards card, and amazon prime visa. Living in the Bay Area, although Amex has better multiples, united and southwest as travel partners make me lean towards chase. What do you think? Does location matter?
Venture X too OP.
For a regular person amex and chase annual fees for similar benefits night and Day. So much value for the price with the X.
I’ve spent the last year learning the credit card game and I got the venture x after my first application that’s crazy😭
I am debating whether I should had the Savor to pair it with the VX
Cheers
I think Wyndham is an underrated transfer partner. If you have a family to take advantage of vacasa or you’re going to a big resort city like Vegas, Atlantic city, etc. there is a lot of great value
😊
First comment! Thanks again! 🥇
They wont approve me with 7 lines
Thank you, Daniel. Good overall on the Cap One VX. Still on the fence with this one. Have CSR & Amex Plat. Not sure I want to add another card. Difficult now to searching for best deal/value. LOL
I value Chase the most and look forward to their domestic flight transfer partners as I travel across the country multiple times a year for family and friends but Chase doesn’t have the multipliers that The Chase savor does 😭
Amex Platinum looks amazing but I don’t wanna change my lifestyle up and think too much.
I can’t be the only one that saw “5x” and thought it meant 5 times instead of 5 negatives lol
I find that making it hard to get approved is actually a good thing for those who already have the card
Cap one sucks, however the venture x is the best card you can get.
Meh. VX is top 3-4
@@newagain9964what card is better?
@@newagain9964Name me another card that pays you to use it. $395 fee and you get $400 off the bat via $300 travel credit and 10,000 anniversary points. Chase charges $550 and leaves a $250 delta unaccounted for between that fee and $300 credit.
It’s the best card if you can get approved, just hard to get approved with how brain dead C1 is at times.
Has anyone had issues with converting savor cash back to venture miles? I called customer service but was told they don’t do that conversion
Capitol 1 customer service is horrible 😢
lowkey you didn't answer if this was still a good card. you just re-capped everything we already know
Price protection is a gimmick.
Also folks never fully grasp that Amex is really just giving you your own $200 back. So you really just prepaid for an overpriced reservation.
@ yes, and that is why I only applied for the cap one venture instead of the venture X
@ the program is awesome. The credit is just ok. It’s just a prepay credit
Yup also got denied twice for the Venture X😂 Great overview of the card, thanks for the info!🫵
