      @@markplott4820In the US. My son in Florida just purchased a first addition because the person who placed the order financing feel through. He was at the dealership looking and test driving a base model when the salesperson told him the first addition setting in the rear lot sale had fallen through. He paid sticker (No markup) and was given several freebies from Ford. The next day he had his electrician install the included 240 charger in his garage. He loves his Mach E. I looked at and test drove a premium Mach E in Maryland and there was no markup. It a fantastic vehicle that rides and handles like a performance car. I look at it as a hatchback instead of an SUV. With the new Broncos, Mach E and the new Mach 1. Ford is hitting it out of the park.

    Note about the cost for charging: In the US, some states don’t allow electricity to be “resold” by someone who is not a utility. So, charging stations can only sell “access to the charger” by the minute. That way they are technically not selling the electricity, just access to it. I’m sure there is a similar issue in Canada, until your new law goes into effect.

    • @TheStraightPipes

      One good thing on the horizon is that six major power companies that serve the southern and southeastern states have formed a charging coalition to establish utility-provided L3 charging within their respective jurisdictions. I live in Mississippi, a state that has one Electrify America charging location and one other single 50kW Greenlots charger, and it not part of the Federal "electric highway" plan (only 2 states are not - MS and South Dakota) so this Coalition will make it possible for EVs to drive across my state, rather then driving around it.

    • @Slays_Media

      The US electrical grid also can't support the change to electric yet, so it's not practical to buy one here until major changes are made.

The gas infrastructure exists and works great, but you can still slow charge it at home which works fine for 90% of your driving, and the electrical infrastructure for slow charging also already exists and works great. Everyone who has tested the Rav4 Prime seems to agree that it's a fantastic vehicle, so it shouldn't be too difficult to make more vehicles like that.

It would also be really cool if you guys could show people how affordable used EVS are since you have done a couple of used car buying videos before it would be very interesting to see your thoughts on buying electric vehicles used. We just bought a used electric vehicle and got an amazing deal on it well under $20,000.
    Also for your next review you might want to look up the plug share app. It will tell you how many kilowatts each charger station is where they are how much they are and much more about them.

    This was the most real video on living with an EV. Really well done. I think it takes away some of the glamour, and does a good job of describing some of the challenges facing first adopters. I think the car is pretty cool, but not going to lie, it feels like the drama was sucked out of the car. Every time you floored it, it was silent with only the sound of tires crunching gravel. I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to that as more of the performance vehicles move towards their new E-lives.

    If you think the charging problem is bad now, just wait until more and more people have these RC Cars. Imagine waiting 5th in line for a single charger and kiss your entire day goodbye!

    • @dzello
      @dzello 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not how it works. The charging problem is due to the LOW user number. As more and more people use electric cars, more effort is put into the electric infrastructure. Basically, you can't do this kind of reasoning where you assume the number of users increases but we do absolutely nothing to improve the infrastructure.
      Basically, as more and more people transition to electric cars, better chargers will come into play, faster chargers will come into play and more chargers will come into play. Because of the importance of electric cars on the total cars, more care is put into making sure electric cars have good servicing. The best example of this is.. Literally Tesla which he refers to a lot in the video. Because Tesla has a lot of electric vehicles, its infrastructure is actually pretty good whereas the other chargers all belong to companies who don't have a big foothold in the market so they don't put enough effort.
      All of that is basics of scaling economies.

    • @MrSchn3ll
      @MrSchn3ll 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dzello TLDR - so more people at an electric charger that already takes 8x longer than filling a gas tank is better? hahah

    • @dzello
      @dzello 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrSchn3ll Actually... Yes. You think our petrol infrastructure was this good when it began? Of course not, it was garbage. But because more and more people got petrol cars, more and better petrol infrastructure was implemented. The more people adopt something, the more it becomes relevant and the more people invest into making it better.
      Once 25%-35% of cars are electric or something, expect electric infrastructure to be everywhere with absolutely no slow chargers at all (all fast chargers). You'll go anywhere, plug your car and be ready in 5-15 minutes. And that's if you even go anywhere because you can do it at home while you sleep.
      So in like 10 years, your car will be fully charged at home. You take it, you drive like 1000km no problem. And charging doesn't take long because batteries charge quick unless you 0% to 100% them. If you do short trips, guess what... You don't charge at all. So let's say you just daily drive to get to your job, you'll never go to a charging station at all. Compared to gas cars, that's a 100% improvement.

    • @dzello
      @dzello 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    @sgibb6802 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jakub, your rant is 100% why I ended up switching to Tesla a couple months ago. I had a 18’ LEAF and it honestly was a great car, but the public infrastructure had let me down too many times. The reason ev charging companies in Canada charge by the minute is because only utilities are allowed to charge by the kWh. So it’s not the charging companies fault, blame measurements Canada. The biggest thing they’re sorting out is how to accurately account for power usage so the consumer doesn’t get screwed.

    Two things everybody knows (or should know). Charging rate by kWh or minute is regulated by state authorities, not by EA. The second thing, you don't charge MME above 80% as the charging speed will drop to L2 because the charging enters leveling protocol.
