  • How much would an element weigh if a 100 pound gym dumbbell weight was replaced with a different element from the periodic table. Periodic table weight comparison. If a 100 pound iron dumbbell was replaced with gold it would weigh 245 pounds. Similarly if a 100 kilogram iron dumbell was replaced with gold it would weigh 245 kilograms.

In this video I mentioned pounds instead of kilograms but the ratio is the same. If a 100 pound dumbbell was replaced with gold it will weigh 245 pounds. If a 100 kilogram dumbbell was replaced with gold it would weigh 245 kilograms. The ratio does not change. Just substitute pounds with kilograms.

Interesting to note steel is much stronger than iron but weighs less. Iron does have a very strong atomic bond. The lower the atomic number the lighter.

True but iron rusts easily :) Caesium has an atomic #55 at 1.89 g/cm3 but iron has a lower atomic #26 at 7.87 g/cm3.

The ratio is the same. 100 lbs or kg of iron replaced with gold will weigh 245 lbs or kg
