I actually made an aluminium foil ball by using aluminium foil that had already been used for some purposes at our home and were going to be thrown away. The ball turned out to be awesome. It is now a solid metal ball and quite shiny even without sanding, I just hammered it quite a lot😅

If you're going to make one of these, DO NOT SAND IT. Aluminum dust is toxic and difficult to control. The person who originally popularized making these didn't sand theirs either, they were just very, very persistent with the hammering step.
