I enjoyed this video...I have a 2001 GMC Sierra (best vehicle I've ever owned) with 260k. Going to fix it up with mods like this because I can't see paying 90k for a new one...thnx!
Mario has done a great job at explaining most everything, but the procedure of needle removal/installation is 100% wrong. I’ve owned a speedometer repair company for the past 16 years(01/15/24). The video was edited from when he installed the needles. The stepper motors on this cluster are magnetic. The unit needs to be powered on during calibration and needle installation. The calibration needs to happen before the needles are removed. The part of removing the needles to the point of reinstalling is incorrect. The cluster must installed and powered on before marking and removing the needles, then install them in the same place when the cluster is powered on. This information only applies for the 99-02 year model GM full size, not for the 03-06/7 classic. 1988-2002 have magnetic aircore steppers and need different treatment than the notorious 03-06 models.
You need to put a piece of tape down under each needle with a sharpie mark of where the needle was before you pop them off. When you put it back together, you align the needles to your sharpie markings
@@HF1.0 Unfortunately, that won't do much good if you're swapping the gauge face like in this video. I'm guessing the way to go about this would be to take a picture of each needle's position, being sure that the camera correctly captures where the needle is pointing when you look at it directly.

Yes

What’s the link for the turn signal lights
Your idle sits at 1000?
I have an 01 Silverado and she idles at 500
Very random, but caught my eye
Oh yeah I didn't notice, my 2000 GMC Sierra also idles at 500.
That’s because he didn’t align his needles back the right way so everything is going to read more or less than what it actually is.
How do you change the color for the Odometer/Gear Shifter? Can’t find anything I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe so I don’t have 2 sodar.
So you have to buy a different face plate if you don’t wanna solder, the faceplate has a color tinted film to change the color
Dam that Escalade face is pricey
My gas gauge n oil pressure gauge don’t work now after install🤦🏽♂️ any advise
Damage to the stepper motors maybe? Any spin at all from them?
@@MarioZermeno yea they spin just noticed I might have put the needles in wrong
yea all my needles are fucked.
Question, i know the needles are white . But for them to light up white didnt u have to put in white bulbs ? Or ?
Good question actually. I know having the white leds makes it 2x as bright I think I’d look at PI clusters IG page for some sample ideas.
With that being said u put red leds on ur cluster ? Any luck on figuring out how to get the warnung light/turn signals to light up to your liking
