  • The 2024 Range Rover Sport SV is getting its elbows out in the premium Large SUV segment, where it goes tyre to tyre with other high-performance flagships, including the BMW X5 M, Audi RS Q8 and Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S, among others.
In fact, the next-generation Range Rover Sport SV gets its 4.4-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine from the X5 M, with its potent tune delivering 467kW of power and 800Nm of torque. It also takes its eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and 48V mild-hybrid system from the German bruiser, which is no bad thing.
But in this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Stephen Ottley travels to Portugal to get behind the wheel of the new Range Rover Sport SV to find out if it does enough to stand itself apart from not only the BMW but also the Audi and Mercedes-AMG. Needless to say, its sharp exterior design and luxurious cabin will surely help.

JLR are pricing this too high for Australia. Ridiculous pricing when taxes are added is just so stupid. Cost too much in Australia for basic SE plumbers pac diesel variants . People in USA and UK , Europe don't pay these stupid high prices. They are much more affordable in these countries .
If you read all the feedback from Range Rover owners using local Australian JLR service to maintain warrantees, shockingly reveals that also don't care about you here in AUS as we are 2% -5% of the JLR global car business. So we hear from lots of feedback Its like pulling teeth when something goes wrong with your fancy expensive Range Rover sport in Australia .
JLR obviously don't care about sales in Australia and that's why you get silly response from Dealers here when you want to order a car spect up in your preference . The common response is,
"oh yes but you have to wait 2- 3 years for your new car". The ones that are here in Australia on lots seem all the same same , silver, black, black interiors and SE entry level . But these a priced at top dollar premiums. Its like we are the dumping ground for basic spec , basic colour combinations and because we are small market its deliberate to maximise returns on the basic models.JLR are making the most profit on these basic variants Australia.
Right now there are over 200 hundred on cars sale siting in lots that are not selling because they are too expensive. Suprise surprise JLR are advertising now heavily in Australian TV because these cars are over valued and the Australian Taxes on these cars are way too high. This pricing issue is beyond nuts, after you are also expected to over pay for it in Australia by as much as 40% more than other customers pay around the world for the same cars.
It won't be surprising if they cant sell them with these new TV adds and then we will see them refuse to lower the prices. The most likely outcome will be the hundred + examples we have here now of RRSport SE basic models sitting on lots here will eventually get shipped back and just disappear all to protect branding and values , before the MY25 MY26 start being available globally .
The new female CEO of JLR Australia head office who used to sell pearls and jewellery really needs to take a closer look at this wrong pricing thats is 40% too high in AUS and not just chuck a few adds on Australian commercial TV , hoping you won't noice the crazy price JLR want you to pay .The new Female CEO will be under pressure to perform in her new role being front and centre top decision maker in JLR Australia and sell these now unwanted expensive Range Rover Sport that are sitting all over Australian dealerships. Advertising alone won't help JLR.
They need more pro active competitive pricing approach , buy reducing prices to what everybody else pays around the world. Add more stronger warranties and benefits free 5 years servicing like Americans have if they want to sell , make dealers lift their games when people have problems.
The negative service feedback in Australia very is disappointing and alarming for such an expensive item and its not acceptable. The new CEO must be addressing this problem if she is serious. JLR must team up with other luxury brands in Australia and start heavy lobbying federal governments Labor and Liberal regarding the, rich tax LCT , GST , Stamp duties do something about it , get some sort of exemptions to save jobs. Cars are costing way too much in Australia . In Australia the highest taxes are built in to prices and other than Singapore are the highest world.
In Australia population is 26million + so a more realistic price point like what Americans and Europeans pay needs to be implemented if they are really serious selling in Australia . JLR need to stop the price gouging practices , lift the customer service and super serve people who are paying a premium for their cars , if JLR are serious and really want to sell the now unsellable cars like the RR sport models here.

I wouldn't by this car if I was a billionaire. Feels like a gimmick.
I would by something more practical
