"Sit down, I dont like it when you stand!"
I had tears in my eyes when I heard that line. My late nana always said that to us. Whoever comes in the house, has to sit down, have a cup of tea, eat a little and then be on their ways. Nobody comes in my nanas house and leaves in haste. She even hated if we talked on the doorstep. "Come inside, have a sip of water and talk what you have to over a tea". Comfort and pampering was sorr of forced upon you when you were in her presence. I suppose it's quite common thousands of miles away with babushkas too. For a second I saw my nana in her.

Just think about this babuska. She lived through all the soviet hell, then the WW2 came, then some more soviet hell, then Chernobyl explosion, then bloody 90s after Soviet Union collapsed. She felt so much pain in her life but her soul is clear as crystal. And some of us complaining and thinking our lives are miserable when we cannot afford an ipad. She is 92 and she is cooking, cleaning, taking care of animals. I am inspired by this person. Thank you for the content.

It's so lovely to see the warmth and hospitality from your home country in this video. I'm from NZ and I hope you're able to feel at home there too. I'm currently living in Europe and for the first time I'm really understanding just how young the culture in NZ is, even the Maori haven't been there that long really. The village life, the centuries of depending on your neighbours etc just isn't there, especially for Pakeha. Visiting the countries of my ancestors has been weird, I have no way of knowing which towns and villages they lived in, all that got lost on the boats. You don't notice it as much when you're in the middle of it, but NZ culture and history is definitely still under construction. I didn't mean to hijack your post but it gave me some good food for thought! All the best in NZ 😊

I'm sure my words will get lost in the loads of comments but I absolutely loved this video Mr. Bald. My family left the pale settlement of Pinsk Belarus and fled to Canada and then the US long ago but I am so happy to see someone visiting Belarus and doing kind deeds for someone's baba. Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine and many other areas of eastern Europe/western Russia have seen a century of war and sadness. Your series has been wonderful to follow and I just had to comment on this video because this was such a great heart warming episode. Like a bald and bankrupt little red riding hood you went risking life and limb "over the swamp and through the woods to babushka's house you went!" I'm happy you didn't get eaten by a wolves, cheers.

@Pasquale BorisThis Was back in early 1900s my grandpa and his family emigrated from Pinsk area to Winnipeg Manitoba area and then my grandfather to the Twin Cities Minnesota area shortly after the depression for more work. Most of my extended family didn't make it out of now Belarus and those that stayed were pretty much all killed in the genocide. Sadly I don't know much about that side of the family.

Precisely. I think the other videos fall short because the gifts are usually items they don't really need, those people already have everything, but they don't realise it. Babushka has nothing, and you can see how much this means to her. Selfless acts of human kindness like this are truly beautiful.
