Just a heads up for anyone looking to buy this, it’s an absolute beast for the price, but far from an entry level purchase. To make this laptop REALLY compete with a 3080 you need to be willing to take it apart for upgrades and have a decent knowledge of ram density. Not all ram is the same! My low density gskill kit easily gave me a %15 increase on cpu performance and %10 gpu, but the problem is that most ram manufacturers don’t list density. The best way to buy the right ram is to look for the 16 GB ram card with eight chips on the front and eight on the back in either crucial or G skill, or just get the 64gb(32gbx2) crucial kit of you want to play it safe since density no longer matters at that size and it’s easy to find. Also drivers are a nightmare, so you need a decent knowledge of the proper drivers and how to properly install them. For the love of God don’t EVER use the drivers in the MyAsus app! Especially the wifi and bluetooth drivers if you get matek adaptors. Also ryzen cpu’s always suffer from TPM stutters which can only be fixed in this particular laptop by turning bitlocker off and deleting the driver files that run TPM, at least until the bios with the patch for it os released(322). $1200 for something that approaches 3080 performance is WELL worth all that though, trust me. Just realize it’s not gonna be plug and play to reach it’s full potential.
Don’t mean to undermine the poster btw, some models are lucky enough to be shipped with low density ram but it’s pretty unlikely if your buying it now.
Pro tip:1. Dont use The latest Bio version,for max highest fan RPM use 316 is the final answer. 2. Use modded driver for extra maximum performance. 3. Upgrade Ram to fury impact cl20. 4. External monitor is a must if you wanna hardcore mode: Extra FPS bypasses IGPU. I can confirm Warzone will hit at 144FPS after this, Even at 1440P,Great GPU for the price no complains whatsover,Just the CPU keep an eye.
I have been using this laptop for months and can confirm that it is a very powerful computer overall, once I have upgraded ram with better timings and to 32Gb added 1Tb ssd and 99% of the time using external monitor with usc c , this little beast plays all the aaa games at 4k30 ultra buttery smooth. It's like having xbox series x but with rgb and windows 11. One downside if any is that ray tracing sucks completely, if 1080p with medium RT in Cyberpunk gives You 25 to 30 fps and without it You can play 4K ultra with 30 fps lock , what would You choose ? Pure rasterization of rx6800m is fantastic 👌
Hello, I have a question, is it possible to turn off rgb line at the front of the laptop? I know it gives extra 500 fps to the gameplay, but during night time, when I usually work in a kinda dark environment, this thing will blast into my eyes. So, turning it off would be nice
Found for $1299 the model with the QHD(1440p) screen and a Ryzen 9 5950HX. Brand new. While I decided to get it, I was still a bit hesitant since I thought I'd need to upgrade it and that would bring its cost up to the next good deal I found. An HP Omen 17 with a I7-12700H, 144hz QHD display, and a RTX 3070ti for 1500. You helped seal the deal so thanks.
The hinges on the notebook monitor stand out as particularly strong looking. Is that purely cosmetic or do you think they'll hold up to long term use better than other laptops?
Only time will tell, but separate hinges are generally stronger than those that protrude from a center apparatus. Always remember to close a laptop by either *gently* applying equal pressure on both top corners of the screen or by pressing down on the top third of the back of the display.
I really hate the fact that this laptop has no webcam. I had an opportunity to pick it up today for 1100, but I have to use it for work on the go and I just can't go without a webcam 😞
I think the num pad are in the touch pad you just need to hold the "numpad" if there's any because some of rog strix has a numpad on the touchpad you just need to hold but I guess it's in the other model
The only issue with mine was the thermal paste, mine is the revision M8 and came with the proper application, I swapped the liquid metal one with GC Gelid Xtreme and dried in 7 months throttling a lot, this time used the Corsair XTM50, also swapped the RAM with better ones and flashed the BIOS back from 318 to 316 as that last version caps the RPM up to 1000RPM less than it is by default, making it to throttle more.
Can you explain how exactly I can increase my laptop battery life? I usually work outside of my house and often need to charge my laptop despite it having a 99wh battery. If there is any advice you can give (or make a video) i would greatly appreciate it.
Essentially, you want windows to disable the dedicated graphics and rely on the internal APU graphics instead. I'm not 100% sure how to change this on amd dual gpu systems as I do not own one :)

I bought this notebook used from a gentleman who used it 3 months straight for crypto mining and the benchmarks are still comparable to notebookcheck.net. Hasn't skipped a beat. If ray tracing is important to you, then stick with Nvidia notebooks. If you're a normal person, this GPU will suit you just fine.

@@LOOTLORD605 While the RX 6800M GPU can utilize RSR (seeing as how it's one of the latest Radeon GPU's to be released), it can't be used in this particular notebook. The reason is that RSR requires the GPU to be a full-on dedicated GPU, which it isn't in this case. A good way to know if an RX-equipped notebook can use RSR is if it has a MUX switch, which fully turns a GPU on or off.

Laptop sold , a great laptop that I cant recommend, At wattage peaks it cause microstutters, and cpu temps is not great even on max fan and lifted.

Just want to add to this - only usb-c port connects directly to gpu. I use a usb-c to display port 1.4 connector that is dp alt mode compatible

My experience with stock memory. Geekbench 5 went from 1123 to 1651 in single core, and 8891 to 10851 in multi core.

The phenomenon of backlight bleeding only occurs during the initial installation of windows, is there anything wrong?

This G15 laptop is on sale quite often and is currently on sale in the US at best buy for $1099 (today only) with that price, nothing can compete

It outputs 4k @ up to 60Hz through USB-C. My TV defaulted to 30Hz, had to go into Advanced Settings to change it to 60.
