Bought an AE a couple of months ago as used with the M6 serial number. So far so good and it's definitively a beast of balance and value. Battery wise, I've been getting a good amount of browsing time by letting it slowly drains while watching a few videos. I think probably 5-6 hours from 100% to 50%, with the whole battery saving, silent settings, etc. Power wise, this thing is not disappointing and is quite a step up from a Dell G15 (Also bought used, sold back). Has been my main VR PC and major upgrade after using a 10 year old Alienware. Giving the lottery a go again on the used market and getting myself another AE with the MC serial numbet :).
It's 2023 and my Asus Rog Strix G15 Advantage Edition is still an absolute BEAST! The ability to revamp your hardware settings is still unparalleled and if you upgrade the ram and SSD's you have a MONSTER living within the powerhouse of hardware and software you originally purchased. My best piece of advice is to buy it through best buy with the Total Tech support plan, this allows you too bring it back for any reason and get a replacement of equal value for 2 years. I originally did this with The Lenovo Legion 7 Slim and swapped out during a brief window when Best Buy was selling The Advantage Edition for $700 off the current price for some reason. God forbid anything happens to my laptop, I can take it to them and they will replace it or give me the laptop of my choosing for the price I originally paid. Right now that's the ROG Strix G17 17.3" 240Hz Gaming Laptop QHD - AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX with 16GB Memory NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 with a 1TB SSD. I'd just swap the original memory back in and return it. Then swap mine into the new machine and carry on for a couple more years. It's beautiful.

I have hit 8 hours of light usage with wifi. Disabling the RX 6800m in the device manager tends to get me a significant boost to battery life... I actually recommend doing this on any laptop that routes the dGPU through the CPU graphics. This helps my old i5-7300HQ + 1050 Ti laptop and the Strix Advantage, generally doubling battery life on both. For very lightweight games you can easily get the battery life up to a few hours or more by using integrated graphics.
Good follow up video, I'm totally happy with mine. I have it for a month now and no complaints. I do have the "slower" ram version but I don't feel I have to upgrade right away. It's a snappy powerhouse and everything task gets executed quickly. Playing games on it is a joy. Running full beans does exhausts hot air from the vents, but that is normal / expected. It never gets too hot anywhere. A lot of reviews will be outdated for this laptop, for example it is possible now to operate the RGB Underlight and RGB Keyboard separate. You even can have one off and the other on. My time spy score is 10444 on performance and 10886 on turbo mode. Machine is stock with the 2560x1440 display, not the 1920x1080. Another thing I really like is the keyboard, it's just very nice to type on. Battery life is also close to advertised I would say, but it really depends on your settings and what you're doing. When you switch it to the Silent profile you can use your machine for 6 hours for normal tasks, 8 when you go only for the light tasks. All in all this laptop gives you a lot bang for the buck, value for the money or however the popular phrases are. Thought I would share this in addition to your follow up video. I watched the first video also a while back, didn't stop me from buying one, as a lot of things addressed in that video could be solved with a clean install, update from the drivers etc. Hope you will like me enjoy your Advantage a lot!
@@spooder-mon7191 With a tool like HWINFO (free) you can look up the exact specs of your memory without opening your laptop. It will show the company plus partnr which you can look up online. Should be some videos also about this on YT
What is the model of your Advantage Edition? In my region there's a sale for the 90NR06X4-M002R0 model, but I don't know if it's safe to buy (I know that in the past there were issues with slower ram and the liquid metal cooling which was faulty in certain models).
@@Akanthus I have the model with the 5900HX CPU, 1TB NVME, 6800M Graphics, 16GB RAM, WQHD 165hz screen. Think the model you mention has the newer processor. So far I have no issues.

I haven't bought a pc or laptop in years because my pc was kinda over powered when I got it. elden ring at 1440p / 60. doom 2017 at like 160 fps with the Vulcan driver. boots up extremely quick. computer isn't too heavy or thick . I like the LED lighting.. I was expecting to pay about 1600 but this for that price was a great deal for me . I'll be using this more as I travel next year for work and school / gaming. pc tech has came a long way!
@@AndrewEvenstar As someone with this laptop I’d recommend limiting the CPU TDP to 25%-35% for games or it’ll thermal throttle fast. Most games unfortunately don’t utilize that CPU headroom but it’s amazing for productivity. You can keep the GPU TDP maxed out too with a little fan curve tweaking. I would also suggest downloading and using Windows10Debloater/ThisisWin11 (depending on your OS) to reduce ram usage at idle and get rid of the pre loaded crap on the system.

I’m an fpv drone pilot that you just made very happy lol. I got this computer on sale. Got it mostly for gaming but was hoping that it would also be good for video editing, as I haven’t really edited any of the footage that I collected over the past 2 1/2 years since I started FPV lol. Got worried I’d be upgrading later if I progressed into 4k, but seems like that wont be necessary. Played mw2 2022 multiplayer on battery at 60fps ultra settings for three hours. To be far this laptop is brand new, has all the latest revisions(r9 5980 etc), and has been on maximum lifespan mode in MyAsus software it’s entire life. Still wasn’t expecting that much though.
Thanks for the update, I bought this laptop about a month ago, I also did a clean install after having having the going to sleep issue and the touch pad not responding sometimes, the clean install did not help nor did it bring up any new issues. I'm thinking about returning it and getting the 2022 Ryzen 7 6800h, RTX 3060, yes I know it doesn't compete with the new 12 Gen but it is what it is...
I managed to pick this up for around $1100 at best buy about a month ago. It has the 5980hx and 165hz 1440p screen and I love it! My only complaint is the crappy mediatek wifi module

Bought my Strix AE in Aug 2021, pretty solid since day one except for when I replaced my main SSD to another one that kinda knew (previously) it was defective (just wasn't unsure) bc it also crashes my desktop pc so I knew right away that stupid SSD was causing the random crashes on my Strix AE right after the change took place, threw that garbage away and upgraded to more ram and SSD. Quality wise and performance is top notch on this laptop, the dedicated graphics alone is comparable to a 6650XT desktop class GPU just with more Vram (12vs 8GB), the recent incredible deal on the 2K version with the slightly faster cpu on BB was something I couldn't resist so I ordered it, I had to have it! decided to run W11 Pro on the 2K and W10 Pro on the FHD, the 2K for productivity and FHD for gaming
I myself at least appreciated the original review enough because it gave me a good perspective on what this laptop does from a consumer standpoint and what struggles they had to deal with. It also adds an extra perspective compared to the big viewer channels since those channels have the review process streamlined and only done for the product at launch most of the time. By watching those channels I would never had known that I had to update the VBIOS or use certain software otherwise I would had a bad time then blame the computer manufacturer for a bad product. I don't trust some of the comments that say "IT JUST WORKS" when the reviewer had a problem with their machine. But thanks to you I can make a proper decision regards this laptop. Keep it up! Also I agree with the others that say your pace is slow and you seem bored but no one is born perfect and it's better to be slow, understandable and have a good accent than act like you have consumed a few monster energy drinks and be incomprehensible. By the way, can you post the invite link of the AMD Advantage Discord server you have mentioned in the 6 months review? You've posted a link in the comments but you probably didn't notice that the Discord invite links are temporary so please post a permanent one. The server should have a permanent invite link.

Works fine. Even using a DP MST hub to drive 4 external monitors works. SIX displays is possible with 4x 1080p DP monitors on the hub running through the 6800m, and the Vega CPU graphics driving a HDMI monitor/TV and the laptops internal display.
Nice review, i will be waiting for the liquid metal replacement mine was all dry and burned , i get 5 h battery life watching youtube and 1:30 hrs while playing at 30 fps, i got the 300hz display and currently using hyperx 32gb ram, maybe the ram is the culprit in lower battery life
I just got this laptop and love it! Do not update the wifi drivers, mine started crashing with Asus driver update and rolled it back to what it came with and no issues so far with 3.01.1207. For battery life when browsing/youtube, switch to Battery Saver mode and it supposed to disable to discreet GPU. getting close to 6-9 hours depending on mixed use of Video streaming/Browsing.
I am a linux guy. Typically I compile my own OS, but as of late I have been playing with POPos. My desktop kicked the bucket, and I figured I would go with a laptop instead of a custom build for the portability. AMD and Linux go very well together right now, so this was the best bang for my buck. I honestly have yet to be let down. Gaming performance has been leagues above my old Desktop. I did upgrade the Ram and Wifi Card. My battery life is decent, I typically get between 4 - 6 hours depending on what im doing. Playing something like ff7 I might get 2 hours. For standard stuff, youtube or something I get 6ish.
Mine after just over a year is now unusable as i have a major keyboard issue. Pretty much after five minutes post boot, pressing any key will open lots of edge tabs and other system info tabs. Tried clean installs, also happens in linux too. Kinda gutted as i loved this laptop :-(
Rip 2022 advantage edition welcome 2023 and gen4 and ddr5 with 6800s ...boo its only low power consumption but high hopes for corsair well maybe . 7000 series shrug. Great video i love the labtop works great

I bought this laptop on sale at 1099 on November 2022 from 1699 of the original price for the QHD version. With the money I saved I upgraded the SSD with 2 fast 1TB Gen 3 from Sabrent that runs cool and is much faster for gaming (I have cloned the internal to the first Sabrent and then replace it with another Sabrent for a 2TB total SSD), I replaced the slow stock ram 1Rx16 CL22 with super-fast 2x16GB DDR4 1Rx8 CL20 Kingston FURY (total 32GB) & I also replaced the unreliable WI-FI/Bluetooth card with a fast and reliable INTEL AX210 NGW. All this costed about 320$ that can be 220$ if you go for the more than enough 16GB ram. All the components I have removed I sold them for used and I made some extra cash (about 100$) for the rest of the upgrades. All the above are super easy to do if you have basic computer skills, 15’ time and a LTT screwdriver. With the remaining money bought also on sale: one ROG Falchion NX 65 keyboard, one mouse ROG Chakram, the AUKEY PC-LM1E 1080p camera and the Creative Pebble V3 Speakers (total cost another 200$). All the above upgrades and accessories costed less than the discount I got from best buy and I added a few more $ to the ones I made by selling the stock parts for one QHD LG Ultragear 27GP850-B monitor at 165Hz that is currently on sale at 300$ for a full gaming set up and for bypassing completely the integrated GPU since there is no MUX switch in this laptop. On benchmarks and on new AAA games this configuration is faster about 25%-30% of the original configuration and faster than a i7 11800H + RTX 3080M laptop that cost about double the original 1699 price of this laptop with smaller SSD and less RAM! All upgrades plus the laptop and peripherals cost me a total of 1820$. All this for a full gaming set up (external screen, keyboard, mouse, speakers and camera) plus 2TB SSD, 32GB ram and fast WIFi6. Every game run on ultra-settings smoothly as butter. I highly recommend it even on original price at best buy if you are considering buying the Nvidia variation and you will have the fastest laptop out there and a lot of hard earned $ saved.

I decided to purchase this laptop during the black friday deal at best buy. ($1099 before tax) Ryzen 9 5980HX / Radeon RX 6800M / 16Gb RAM / 512Gb SSD / 165 hz, 1440p I will be connecting it to a monitor with usb-C to HDMI cable. Heard that usb-C connection forces the laptop operate with dedicated graphics. Not having the mux switch is unfortunate, but I think it is still a good deal for the price. One complain will be that I need an additional USB port to have keyboard, mouse, webcam and mic. I will gladly upgrade RAM, SSD and wifi. I am happy to replace my 8 year old one with E3-1231v3 and GTX970M. Believe or not, I paid $2k for non-optimus configuration which was actually cost-effect in terms of gaming performance.

Does your touchpad slant down or slope down? I noticed there’s a noticeable distance between the lower part of the touchpad and the body and can feel the difference. I mostly always used a mouse.
Hey Man, wassup I have the same laptop, Asus Rog G15 Strix AMD Advantage Edition, and I have been facing an issue for quite some time now. Whenever I try to play any game, on any mode in the Armoury Crate, the laptop crashes within a few mintutes. This issue only occurs when I play games with the laptop charging. When I play on battery, there isnt any issue although the FPS is pretty low. I have tried playing in the manual mode with max fan curves and yet the issue persists. Tried a factory resetting the laptop, removing graphic drivers using the AMD Cleanup Utility tool and installing the working 22.4.1 drivers but it isnt getting fixed. I have crossed my warrenty limit and am at my wit's end. Can you please help me out?
Mine won't even download steam games without steam crashing and not being able to be reopened without a restart of the pc. Also restarts take at least an hour.
have this for a year, had already RMA'd once, and they replaced the motherboard, and yet still got some issue... sometimes when I play heavy game, suddenly the laptop died, no warning / bluescreen. it happens randomly, like sometimes an hour of gaming or 10 mins of gaming sometimes it works fine for hours of gaming, wonder if I shld RMA this again?
not too long after publishing this 1 year review i ran into the same old problems... :( i feel as tho their is not much hope for some with this laptop... atleast in my case i know how to avoid a crash.. its still inconvenient but i know some people like you have a laptop that is essentially in an unusable state... and i am not sure whether the software neeeds more work or if its the hardware that is litteraly a lemon and they need to recall entire batches of these laptops....

Some find that the CPU boost on this laptop is unnecessary... the amount of extra FPS it gets you is not worth the temperature gain.. so with AMD APU Tuning Tool you can turn off boost. You can download it from the google drive link in the description. Thanks for the feedback, enjoy the laptop!

I have this Asus AE with the 5900hx and 6800m GPU and I'm not sure if it's the ram or SSD but it's a bit sluggish sometimes, I replaced the ram with Kingston fury impact 32 gigs dual channel running at 3200 MHz I checked but still boosts a little slow and I wonder if the SSD is just of low quality maybe? Any thoughts!?

My Asus Strix g15 advantage runs 10 hours while browsing the Internet and TH-cam, and 3.5 hours on GTA 5 and Rainbow 6 siege (Max settings, 1440p on performance mode) from 100% battery to 0%. Quite impressive in my opinion.
I have the original 16GB RAM installed. It’s been 8 months of me using this laptop, and the battery has retained its capacity well. While browsing TH-cam and Google, I just have it on Silent mode in Armoury Crate and so the fans never spin. In games, it’s just performance mode in armoury crate. No special settings. GTA 5 averages at 130fps at 1440p at 165Hz with highest settings. R6 does 155fps at 1440p on 165Hz highest settings. Also recently, many people have complained about severe screen bleeding issues, but I do not seem to have any.
I noticed you swap with crucial memory, that might give you worse results in 3dmark if it is 16x banks memory, happened to me before eventually getting the kingston
ive been trying to figure out how many banks of memory i have... i see 8 chips on each side of the ram but how do i know if they are all on the same controller or not?
I got this laptop about a month ago, it was supposed to rival the GTX3080m, according to FPS performance alone, the amd being just 5-10fps slower. Bear in mind I have Asus RoG Chimera (the super bulky laptop with gtx 1080 and has 2 chargers) which I'll be using as comparison. So the Asus RoG Strix Advantage edition runs fine when it's not overclocked using Asus crate, problem is that it's actually performs worse in that state than my Asus RoG Chimera gtx 1080, okay I guess the GPU needs some more wattage, I give it more wattage and it starts immediately overheating at 90 close to 100c, this is the CPU mostly, the video card i think goes around 80 something. I heard the laptops had issues with liquid metal in the factory, not everything is applied properly there and from my experience every asus rog strix advantage edition laptop seems different, some work well, some work pretty badly. Also my battery goes nowhere near even 8 hours on battery, windows mode enabled... It seems like this laptop is very software heavy, something i haven't seen before actually. Which gives me anxiety cuz I want to go Linux, but It's just... the asus crate fan control... overclocking which the laptop is not designed for... it seems like software keeps a tight check on even battery life performance. Also my screen sometimes goes blank with no explanation and stays like that... I have the 300hz full hd model. Very disappointed with Asus and this is my fourth laptop from them.

Anyways I heard the CPU goes 105C and no problem, but I don't know man, I guess I need to get used to that. It's a nice laptop it's just the first Asus one that gave me some issues, I'm a huge Asus fan, they just seem like such humble peeps to me, giving free stuff at events and selling original priced GPU's at events to avoid the whole scalper issues, I have huge respect for them, but I guess I had unreasonably high expectations too, the machine is pretty tight, especially for it's size too. The amd adrenalin software seems very cluttered and unorganised and lots of software giving me options that are repeated in other software (like myasus, crate, adrenalin, it can get pretty confusing) but I guess that's personal preference kinda stuff, in short I don't vibe too well with AMD altho I still think they are pretty cool.
@@thomasmoore6117 do you have to overclock it to reach that performance? Doesn't it overheat if you do overclock it? Like I said, laptop runs perfectly fine if it's not overclocked, but I believe overclocking is how the whole amd"advantage" works, besides, it's terribly mediocre if not overclocked, I mean nowhere near 1080m, let alone 3080m.
One question, if you can help and give some explanation or links with details: This, i,e. G15 6800H + 3070Ti 8GB + 1440p (2022) or the G15 Advantage Edition with 5980HX + 6800M 12GB + 1440p (2021), considering the 2021 is about $250 cheaper as on date and I want it to be playable for next 2 years.
I'm in the same boat except both laptop and 1080 (grrr) and the ryzen 6800h is 3060, both are the same price, I'm not sure if I should keep the 2021 or get the 2022 with faster ram, larger HDD for the same price.

That score is mega low dude. same laptop, 11,807 timespy score. 11983 graphics and 10905 cpu. 32 gigs of ram and added a 2tb ssd in the open slot, but otherwise stock running on an external monitor via usb-c to display port.

I haven't personally tried the HP Omen r7 w 3070 but i would say that the competing laptop with the nvidia card might be more stable.. do you want better performance or stability?

@@huzaif692 i even use a 65 watt charger.. it has to have minimum 35 watts i think (kinda slow) and the cable your using also has to support up to 100 watts

that benchmark score is significantly low. stock pc here with only a memory upgrade(the upgrade recommended by jarrods tech) and i score at 12,000 on the same benchmark, looks like your lottery is extremely bad or something isnt right, that like 40% less
@@nathanielsepictech I’m not sure. That score to me just sounds like your throttling. What do you get on cinebench23? I can get 14,300 max. Some only get mid 13k. I’m just wondering if they did a bad paste job and it’s thermal throttling
@@nathanielsepictech I bought 32 gigs of ram with timing mentioned by jarred on his TH-cam channel. I also updated the wifi card since it is super easy that is mentioned else where I TH-cam also. Your numbers that you showed are almost exactly the same as the nvidia version of this laptop with the 3070.
if ever re pasted the laptop yourself, never allow the service center when warranty the the laptop they use generic crappy themo paste in the repair center. this laptop on paper really good let down by the software being immature amd advantage badge became red flag , see a laptop with that badge its a no go as amd still is company that cant make good software/driver package.

I originally did this with The Lenovo Legion 7 Slim and swapped out during a brief window when Best Buy was selling The Advantage Edition for $700 off the current price for some reason. God forbid anything happens to my laptop, I can take it to them and they will replace it or give me the laptop of my choosing for the price I originally paid.
Right now that's the ROG Strix G17 17.3" 240Hz Gaming Laptop QHD - AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX with 16GB Memory NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 with a 1TB SSD.
I'd just swap the original memory back in and return it. Then swap mine into the new machine and carry on for a couple more years. It's beautiful.

I have hit 8 hours of light usage with wifi. Disabling the RX 6800m in the device manager tends to get me a significant boost to battery life... I actually recommend doing this on any laptop that routes the dGPU through the CPU graphics. This helps my old i5-7300HQ + 1050 Ti laptop and the Strix Advantage, generally doubling battery life on both. For very lightweight games you can easily get the battery life up to a few hours or more by using integrated graphics.
Good follow up video, I'm totally happy with mine. I have it for a month now and no complaints. I do have the "slower" ram version but I don't feel I have to upgrade right away. It's a snappy powerhouse and everything task gets executed quickly.
Playing games on it is a joy. Running full beans does exhausts hot air from the vents, but that is normal / expected. It never gets too hot anywhere.
A lot of reviews will be outdated for this laptop, for example it is possible now to operate the RGB Underlight and RGB Keyboard separate. You even can have one off and the other on. My time spy score is 10444 on performance and 10886 on turbo mode. Machine is stock with the 2560x1440 display, not the 1920x1080. Another thing I really like is the keyboard, it's just very nice to type on. Battery life is also close to advertised I would say, but it really depends on your settings and what you're doing. When you switch it to the Silent profile you can use your machine for 6 hours for normal tasks, 8 when you go only for the light tasks.
All in all this laptop gives you a lot bang for the buck, value for the money or however the popular phrases are. Thought I would share this in addition to your follow up video. I watched the first video also a while back, didn't stop me from buying one, as a lot of things addressed in that video could be solved with a clean install, update from the drivers etc. Hope you will like me enjoy your Advantage a lot!

What is the model of your Advantage Edition? In my region there's a sale for the 90NR06X4-M002R0 model, but I don't know if it's safe to buy (I know that in the past there were issues with slower ram and the liquid metal cooling which was faulty in certain models).

elden ring at 1440p / 60. doom 2017 at like 160 fps with the Vulcan driver. boots up extremely quick. computer isn't too heavy or thick . I like the LED lighting.. I was expecting to pay about 1600 but this for that price was a great deal for me . I'll be using this more as I travel next year for work and school / gaming. pc tech has came a long way!

@@AndrewEvenstar As someone with this laptop I’d recommend limiting the CPU TDP to 25%-35% for games or it’ll thermal throttle fast. Most games unfortunately don’t utilize that CPU headroom but it’s amazing for productivity. You can keep the GPU TDP maxed out too with a little fan curve tweaking. I would also suggest downloading and using Windows10Debloater/ThisisWin11 (depending on your OS) to reduce ram usage at idle and get rid of the pre loaded crap on the system.

I’m an fpv drone pilot that you just made very happy lol. I got this computer on sale. Got it mostly for gaming but was hoping that it would also be good for video editing, as I haven’t really edited any of the footage that I collected over the past 2 1/2 years since I started FPV lol. Got worried I’d be upgrading later if I progressed into 4k, but seems like that wont be necessary.
Played mw2 2022 multiplayer on battery at 60fps ultra settings for three hours. To be far this laptop is brand new, has all the latest revisions(r9 5980 etc), and has been on maximum lifespan mode in MyAsus software it’s entire life. Still wasn’t expecting that much though.
Thanks for the update, I bought this laptop about a month ago, I also did a clean install after having having the going to sleep issue and the touch pad not responding sometimes, the clean install did not help nor did it bring up any new issues. I'm thinking about returning it and getting the 2022 Ryzen 7 6800h, RTX 3060, yes I know it doesn't compete with the new 12 Gen but it is what it is...
I managed to pick this up for around $1100 at best buy about a month ago. It has the 5980hx and 165hz 1440p screen and I love it! My only complaint is the crappy mediatek wifi module

Bought my Strix AE in Aug 2021, pretty solid since day one except for when I replaced my main SSD to another one that kinda knew (previously) it was defective (just wasn't unsure) bc it also crashes my desktop pc so I knew right away that stupid SSD was causing the random crashes on my Strix AE right after the change took place, threw that garbage away and upgraded to more ram and SSD. Quality wise and performance is top notch on this laptop, the dedicated graphics alone is comparable to a 6650XT desktop class GPU just with more Vram (12vs 8GB), the recent incredible deal on the 2K version with the slightly faster cpu on BB was something I couldn't resist so I ordered it, I had to have it! decided to run W11 Pro on the 2K and W10 Pro on the FHD, the 2K for productivity and FHD for gaming

I myself at least appreciated the original review enough because it gave me a good perspective on what this laptop does from a consumer standpoint and what struggles they had to deal with.
It also adds an extra perspective compared to the big viewer channels since those channels have the review process streamlined and only done for the product at launch most of the time.
By watching those channels I would never had known that I had to update the VBIOS or use certain software otherwise I would had a bad time then blame the computer manufacturer for a bad product.
I don't trust some of the comments that say "IT JUST WORKS" when the reviewer had a problem with their machine.
But thanks to you I can make a proper decision regards this laptop. Keep it up!

Works fine. Even using a DP MST hub to drive 4 external monitors works. SIX displays is possible with 4x 1080p DP monitors on the hub running through the 6800m, and the Vega CPU graphics driving a HDMI monitor/TV and the laptops internal display.
Nice review, i will be waiting for the liquid metal replacement mine was all dry and burned , i get 5 h battery life watching youtube and 1:30 hrs while playing at 30 fps, i got the 300hz display and currently using hyperx 32gb ram, maybe the ram is the culprit in lower battery life
I just got this laptop and love it! Do not update the wifi drivers, mine started crashing with Asus driver update and rolled it back to what it came with and no issues so far with 3.01.1207. For battery life when browsing/youtube, switch to Battery Saver mode and it supposed to disable to discreet GPU. getting close to 6-9 hours depending on mixed use of Video streaming/Browsing.
I am a linux guy. Typically I compile my own OS, but as of late I have been playing with POPos. My desktop kicked the bucket, and I figured I would go with a laptop instead of a custom build for the portability. AMD and Linux go very well together right now, so this was the best bang for my buck. I honestly have yet to be let down. Gaming performance has been leagues above my old Desktop. I did upgrade the Ram and Wifi Card. My battery life is decent, I typically get between 4 - 6 hours depending on what im doing. Playing something like ff7 I might get 2 hours. For standard stuff, youtube or something I get 6ish.

Mine after just over a year is now unusable as i have a major keyboard issue. Pretty much after five minutes post boot, pressing any key will open lots of edge tabs and other system info tabs. Tried clean installs, also happens in linux too. Kinda gutted as i loved this laptop :-(
Rip 2022 advantage edition welcome 2023 and gen4 and ddr5 with 6800s ...boo its only low power consumption but high hopes for corsair well maybe . 7000 series shrug. Great video i love the labtop works great

I bought this laptop on sale at 1099 on November 2022 from 1699 of the original price for the QHD version.
With the money I saved I upgraded the SSD with 2 fast 1TB Gen 3 from Sabrent that runs cool and is much faster for gaming (I have cloned the internal to the first Sabrent and then replace it with another Sabrent for a 2TB total SSD), I replaced the slow stock ram 1Rx16 CL22 with super-fast 2x16GB DDR4 1Rx8 CL20 Kingston FURY (total 32GB) & I also replaced the unreliable WI-FI/Bluetooth card with a fast and reliable INTEL AX210 NGW. All this costed about 320$ that can be 220$ if you go for the more than enough 16GB ram. All the components I have removed I sold them for used and I made some extra cash (about 100$) for the rest of the upgrades.
All the above are super easy to do if you have basic computer skills, 15’ time and a LTT screwdriver.
With the remaining money bought also on sale: one ROG Falchion NX 65 keyboard, one mouse ROG Chakram, the AUKEY PC-LM1E 1080p camera and the Creative Pebble V3 Speakers (total cost another 200$).
All the above upgrades and accessories costed less than the discount I got from best buy and I added a few more $ to the ones I made by selling the stock parts for one QHD LG Ultragear 27GP850-B monitor at 165Hz that is currently on sale at 300$ for a full gaming set up and for bypassing completely the integrated GPU since there is no MUX switch in this laptop.
On benchmarks and on new AAA games this configuration is faster about 25%-30% of the original configuration and faster than a i7 11800H + RTX 3080M laptop that cost about double the original 1699 price of this laptop with smaller SSD and less RAM! All upgrades plus the laptop and peripherals cost me a total of 1820$. All this for a full gaming set up (external screen, keyboard, mouse, speakers and camera) plus 2TB SSD, 32GB ram and fast WIFi6.
Every game run on ultra-settings smoothly as butter.
I highly recommend it even on original price at best buy if you are considering buying the Nvidia variation and you will have the fastest laptop out there and a lot of hard earned $ saved.

I will be connecting it to a monitor with usb-C to HDMI cable. Heard that usb-C connection forces the laptop operate with dedicated graphics. Not having the mux switch is unfortunate, but I think it is still a good deal for the price. One complain will be that I need an additional USB port to have keyboard, mouse, webcam and mic.
I will gladly upgrade RAM, SSD and wifi. I am happy to replace my 8 year old one with E3-1231v3 and GTX970M. Believe or not, I paid $2k for non-optimus configuration which was actually cost-effect in terms of gaming performance.

I have the same laptop, Asus Rog G15 Strix AMD Advantage Edition, and I have been facing an issue for quite some time now. Whenever I try to play any game, on any mode in the Armoury Crate, the laptop crashes within a few mintutes. This issue only occurs when I play games with the laptop charging. When I play on battery, there isnt any issue although the FPS is pretty low. I have tried playing in the manual mode with max fan curves and yet the issue persists. Tried a factory resetting the laptop, removing graphic drivers using the AMD Cleanup Utility tool and installing the working 22.4.1 drivers but it isnt getting fixed. I have crossed my warrenty limit and am at my wit's end. Can you please help me out?
Mine won't even download steam games without steam crashing and not being able to be reopened without a restart of the pc. Also restarts take at least an hour.
have this for a year, had already RMA'd once, and they replaced the motherboard, and yet still got some issue... sometimes when I play heavy game, suddenly the laptop died, no warning / bluescreen. it happens randomly, like sometimes an hour of gaming or 10 mins of gaming sometimes it works fine for hours of gaming, wonder if I shld RMA this again?
not too long after publishing this 1 year review i ran into the same old problems... :( i feel as tho their is not much hope for some with this laptop... atleast in my case i know how to avoid a crash.. its still inconvenient but i know some people like you have a laptop that is essentially in an unusable state... and i am not sure whether the software neeeds more work or if its the hardware that is litteraly a lemon and they need to recall entire batches of these laptops....

Some find that the CPU boost on this laptop is unnecessary... the amount of extra FPS it gets you is not worth the temperature gain.. so with AMD APU Tuning Tool you can turn off boost. You can download it from the google drive link in the description. Thanks for the feedback, enjoy the laptop!

I have this Asus AE with the 5900hx and 6800m GPU and I'm not sure if it's the ram or SSD but it's a bit sluggish sometimes, I replaced the ram with Kingston fury impact 32 gigs dual channel running at 3200 MHz I checked but still boosts a little slow and I wonder if the SSD is just of low quality maybe? Any thoughts!?

My Asus Strix g15 advantage runs 10 hours while browsing the Internet and TH-cam, and 3.5 hours on GTA 5 and Rainbow 6 siege (Max settings, 1440p on performance mode) from 100% battery to 0%. Quite impressive in my opinion.

I have the original 16GB RAM installed. It’s been 8 months of me using this laptop, and the battery has retained its capacity well. While browsing TH-cam and Google, I just have it on Silent mode in Armoury Crate and so the fans never spin. In games, it’s just performance mode in armoury crate. No special settings. GTA 5 averages at 130fps at 1440p at 165Hz with highest settings. R6 does 155fps at 1440p on 165Hz highest settings. Also recently, many people have complained about severe screen bleeding issues, but I do not seem to have any.
Do you take your personal data off of the hard drive first before sending it in for repairs?

I got this laptop about a month ago, it was supposed to rival the GTX3080m, according to FPS performance alone, the amd being just 5-10fps slower. Bear in mind I have Asus RoG Chimera (the super bulky laptop with gtx 1080 and has 2 chargers) which I'll be using as comparison. So the Asus RoG Strix Advantage edition runs fine when it's not overclocked using Asus crate, problem is that it's actually performs worse in that state than my Asus RoG Chimera gtx 1080, okay I guess the GPU needs some more wattage, I give it more wattage and it starts immediately overheating at 90 close to 100c, this is the CPU mostly, the video card i think goes around 80 something. I heard the laptops had issues with liquid metal in the factory, not everything is applied properly there and from my experience every asus rog strix advantage edition laptop seems different, some work well, some work pretty badly. Also my battery goes nowhere near even 8 hours on battery, windows mode enabled... It seems like this laptop is very software heavy, something i haven't seen before actually. Which gives me anxiety cuz I want to go Linux, but It's just... the asus crate fan control... overclocking which the laptop is not designed for... it seems like software keeps a tight check on even battery life performance. Also my screen sometimes goes blank with no explanation and stays like that... I have the 300hz full hd model. Very disappointed with Asus and this is my fourth laptop from them.

Anyways I heard the CPU goes 105C and no problem, but I don't know man, I guess I need to get used to that. It's a nice laptop it's just the first Asus one that gave me some issues, I'm a huge Asus fan, they just seem like such humble peeps to me, giving free stuff at events and selling original priced GPU's at events to avoid the whole scalper issues, I have huge respect for them, but I guess I had unreasonably high expectations too, the machine is pretty tight, especially for it's size too. The amd adrenalin software seems very cluttered and unorganised and lots of software giving me options that are repeated in other software (like myasus, crate, adrenalin, it can get pretty confusing) but I guess that's personal preference kinda stuff, in short I don't vibe too well with AMD altho I still think they are pretty cool.

Like I said, laptop runs perfectly fine if it's not overclocked, but I believe overclocking is how the whole amd"advantage" works, besides, it's terribly mediocre if not overclocked, I mean nowhere near 1080m, let alone 3080m.

That score is mega low dude. same laptop, 11,807 timespy score. 11983 graphics and 10905 cpu. 32 gigs of ram and added a 2tb ssd in the open slot, but otherwise stock running on an external monitor via usb-c to display port.

@@huzaif692 i even use a 65 watt charger.. it has to have minimum 35 watts i think (kinda slow) and the cable your using also has to support up to 100 watts

I'd say yes.. they just put out BIOS 320 for this laptop that fingers crossed seems to appear to solve the problems I was dealing with...

that benchmark score is significantly low. stock pc here with only a memory upgrade(the upgrade recommended by jarrods tech) and i score at 12,000 on the same benchmark, looks like your lottery is extremely bad or something isnt right, that like 40% less

@@nathanielsepictech I bought 32 gigs of ram with timing mentioned by jarred on his TH-cam channel. I also updated the wifi card since it is super easy that is mentioned else where I TH-cam also. Your numbers that you showed are almost exactly the same as the nvidia version of this laptop with the 3070.

Never do "clean" installations on laptops
sucks that this is the status quo, that these machines are incapable of autofetching the correct drivers through windows update..
if ever re pasted the laptop yourself, never allow the service center when warranty the the laptop they use generic crappy themo paste in the repair center. this laptop on paper really good let down by the software being immature amd advantage badge became red flag , see a laptop with that badge its a no go as amd still is company that cant make good software/driver package.
