- Unboxing an American Fork and Hoe bayonet for my M1 Garand. Purchased the bayonet from the CMP for $65.00. It was model number PB004AFH.
Opened the box using a bayonet from a Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifle.
The biggest fear I have with the Mosin bayonet: Poking a hole in my ceiling when it's attached to my 91/30.
That's a pretty big screwdriver you got, there. That's what you tell the cops "Yeah, it's a flat head screwdriver for some old Russian rifle. It's neat because you can store it conveniently right on the front so you don't lose it."
Egad its superb. If only we could source such examples outside ebay in Australia (and most sellers refuse to ship outside the US)
And props for using an M91/30 bayonet to open it lol
There should be a release button on the handle of the bayonet that you need to press in order to get it to detach.

There is a few other items you need in order to really complete your M1 Garrand. That is a grenade launcher with the grenades. I have three grenade launchers and about six rifle grenades and two rifle grenades with hand grenades that fit the launchers. If you want you also need the elevation adaptor ( I'm not sure if that is what i'ts called) for the side of the rifle but they really only used them in training. You also need the bumper on the stock because they say you need to put it on the ground to launch it. They say it will bust your shoulder and the stock, I have seen on the original WW2 you tube that they shot it kneeling down. but that is if you have b@%#s They also used a different blank for it. It is more powerful than a regular blank. Also there is a special blank cartridge you use "with" the regular blank that goes inside the grenade for extra distance. They make also a small cloth cup like peace that fits on the barrel to keep dust out. Bandoliers also needed for extra cartridges and a cleaning kit. Yes I know that is a lot of different stuff you don't really need, but there is a lot more that you can get. I'm 51 years old and I've been collecting for over 30 years.I was in WW2 reenactments and if you wanted to be realistic its good items that you need. I just thought I would tell you if need be. Have fun with it and if you ever get into reenactments you will really enjoy it.

I have all of those things and the 10 rifle grenade cartridges ww2 but advice on the ww2 ribber grenade launching butt plate is the rubber has shrunk on them. I didn't want to force mine on my stock for fear it would tear.

Got mine at a pawnshop a month ago and only had to give 75 for it. I have about 70 n-block's and the sling , shovel & sheath i just need the med pouch and ammo pouch

Interesting. My garand has a dark rear stock section and a lighter colored front section just like yours.

You're not done yet! You need a period correct sling too! and you better have a cleaning kit in that stock!
The sling is just recently taken care of. The cleaning kit however ....
TheHiltnerds Nice! Gotta get that period correct cleaning kit! Check out the book The M1 Garand by Bruce Canfield, its expensive but worth it, it has everything you'd ever need to know about the M1 and the M1 kit.
Most are made of stainless steel.
Quality and durability will depend on who made it. But for the most part, they will do anything within reason.
If you're buying one just to own it...I suggest that you do not forsake quality. If you cannot buy the real M1 bayonet from a reliable source, save your cash and buy a used surplus bayonet that is guaranteed to be of a high quality, rather than buy some eBay M1 bayonet. Yugo M70 bayonet, Romanian AKM bayonet, M24/47 bayonet, etc

Watch out, that Mosin bayonet was banned by the Geneva Convention. One slip and you could have ended up both bloody and a war criminal.
How does the scabbered attach to a belt, need to know cause I'm going to a WW I reenactment next year 2019, and just received mine

If my wife [(if I had one) or anyone for that matter who can legally own one] asked me for the money to buy one of those for any reason, my only condition needed is the package must be opened with a bayonet.
Um the Russian bayonets in today's world are the knife type bayonets
