Today we’ll be racing through the Enduimet Wildlife Management area and we have a good chance of seeing giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, ostriches and a variety of antelopes. We're also starting our journey to Lake Natron and will be finishing at our first remote bush camp of the event. This is mountain biking unlike anything we have ever done before and it’s shaping up to be an unforgettable day.

99% adventure, 1% race. Classic type 2 fun. Thanks for bringing us along!
Best race ever! Glad you guys saw so much wildlife! It does help to be near the front! At the end of the stage I think you traded the "maze of thorns" for the "bushwhack". Seems like there is no great route through that section! And that wash was definitely there in 2023, it just looks like you went through a different section. Adventure of a lifetime :)
Looks like the school kids make an appearance on the next stage! ❤
Honestly, the bushwhacking was terrible but I kind of loved it? That sums up large swaths of this race now that I think about it.
I must say your channel is the most entertaining and REAL that I’ve viewed. Thank you!
At 77, I’m too old and broken to ride like you but I can live my younger days by watching y’all.
I’m working my way through all your videos.
Thanks again for being open and honest about your life and your work.
Thank you for the kind words!!
This looks like an epic way to experience Africa. I love that you guys created these videos in a way that we can all feel along for the ride. Fantastic job!
What an incredible experience this must be. super tough but moments of extreme pleasure. Well done for not getting eaten yet.
Your biking videos are just incredible! I always look forward to them and I'm proud to support you through Patreon!
The Giraffe was sayin' just be the tree and they won't see me. LOL You have the greatest of adventures and the animals were awesome!!
I sound like a broken record but....this is so awesome!!!!
Thanks as always for bringing us along!!!
Thank you for watching! xx
Forget paying for a guided expedition of seeing a safari when you get your own viewing safari cutesy Lo, Joe, Syd, and Macky!!
The sprint finish between Lo and Syd at the end was awesome!! Way to go, Lo!!!
I knew when I started seeing this race on Strava that these were going to be some epic videos. I was not let down! Awesome stuff guys!

Last place I expected to see a Bill Kirchen reference.
@@trentc7329 😂 yup 👍👍, good s thou ain't it
Son, you’re gonna drive me to drinkin’ if you don’t learn to spell Hot Rod Lincoln
@@willernst 😂 love it
Not much of a race, rather one of those adventures others dream about. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely more of an adventure/survival race!
Thank you for sharing your adventure!! Looks amazing. I went to Africa on my honeymoon too but we did the safari wildlife thing.. you all are smashing it! Keep it up Joe, Lo, Syd and Macky! Cheers
Again amazing !
Absolutely amazing , My adventuring days are likely over, but my wife and I have been fortunate enough to spend time in several regions, including Northern Africa, it was great to see more of this incredible continent, it's wildlife, flora and people was epic. Oh, and the racing was epic too. Lo is my new hero! Your progress as a rider is really inspiring!!
This video was amazing!!!! Hearing the noises of joy, excitement, surprise, at all the wildlife, was so rad! Thanks for sharing!
What an adventure!!!
Awesome video. Thank you
What an amazing trip and race.
You guys are awesome !
The Trip of a Lifetime ! This is the best adventure yet.
Amazing editing and story telling.
Epic! I appreciate you guys so much!!! This footage though❤❤❤❤
Loving this. A proper adventure with amazing people!!
Love the music!
Your wildlife spectators reminded me of an old story. 1974 (told you it was old!), I took a weeklong bike trip with a church youth group (no mother, YAY!) on a 240- mile meander between Indianapolis and Bloomington in central Indiana.
Day One ended in scenic Brown County State Park, known for gorgeous autumns when the leaves turn colors. We camped, and headed out the west entrance/exit early on Day Two.
I was riding a loaner 10-speed Schwinn, the skinny-tire standard of the time. Cruising my 15yo butt along the blacktop at 30 mph, I looked over into the bordering woods....
And saw a deer, a grown buck, prancing along, pacing me! He kept pace for about 15 seconds, then bounded into the trees.
Fifty years now, and still a cherished memory (as was hitting 56mph on my speedometer moments later, at the bottom of a long downhill to the highway)!
Relish nature's gifts, they'll stir you in your golden years.
Amazing! Those moments of being one with a wild animal really do stick with you. Thanks for sharing xx
Best vid ever, guys! Loved the camaraderie, wildlife, adventure, and the fact that you were all having fun! Don't care about the racing too much! 😁
As usual, another GREAT video from you two! I feel fortunate to be a Patreon supporter of you guys, it's an honor.
And LOVE that outro music you're using for this series, makes me feel like I'm there with you. Can you point me to where you got that from?
Thank for the kind words and being part of the team! That song is Umbele by Ebo Kardum
Had to make sure I had that White Stripes song playing in the background (end camp) in my Spotify (Icky Thump . .it's the bagpipes) . yep it's there.
Amazing adventure you guys/girls - love finding new vids from you.
Syd & Macky 2024!!! Make mountain biking great again!!!
Such an amazing looking trip! So awesome, thank you for sharing! Hopefully I could do something like this one day.
Great Team work 💪🚴🚴!🚴🚴 👏🏴👏
Fantastic adventure, a trip of a lifetime.
Thank you!
maravillosos paisajes, una aventura sorprendente
The only thing missing are the epic helicopter shots and this would be like a stage of the Paris-Dakar. Such a cool stage event.
The day's ride seemed hard but sleeping in tents is intense. Thanks for another fun video.
The good thing about stage racing is you are pretty tired by the time you get in the tent! lol
Forget the ride - who selects and marks these trails! Crazy.
You guys have got to come do the Cape Epic in South Africa
Waist high grass in the east African bush, I would be so worried about venomous snakes in there haha. That area is prime real estate for Black Mambas and Puff Adders.
What an absolute joy to be getting to see this ❤ im so glad you all are finding such delight and can't wait for the next installment 🎉
Started watching at s McDonald's 30 miles in to my first attempt at strava art
Epic
Cool
I’d be slow racing this one I think. Fun but dam hard. Thanks.
Y'all aren't racing..you're sightseeing...lol...cool as heck race.
Ok I just saw your tan lines lol :)
Hey Syd and Macky. What a great ride! Because of you guys putting this on my radar, I'm going to do this! Would you guys consider doing The Cape Epic? Now that is one mean ride. Thanks for the content. Pierre
Cape Epic is definitely on our radar. Don't know when, but I suspect we'll race it sometime!
Excellent. I'm going to do it again in 2026. I didn't finish it this year...I had serious back issues. 20k's into stage 4 I had to pull the pin. So gutted.
Sorry to hear. That must have been disappointing!
doesn’t seem to have many entrants, looks fun though.
Incredible! But I need to know where Joe got the Taylor Swift Jesus t-shirt!
Interesting...is that a SRAM Transmission I see there? Thought yall were Shimano
We have Shimano XTR, maybe you are seeing Lo or Joe's bike?
I love the excitement when you spotted a wild African animal, but did anyone remember you were racing?
We had an agreement between our teams to neutralize all giraffe sightings lol
How many people participate in this race? Seems like there aren't many other riders around.
This year was fairly small at 20 racers, which was cool because we got to know everyone else! But some years it's a bigger field.
Considering what is going on in Kenya, please be safe.
We are home safe now, videos are a bit behind. Thanks for thinking of us :)
Zebra = Barcode Pony
😂
can you do a bike check on the new Signal Peak? And Lo&Joe's bike?
There's a very quick bike check in the first episode of this series, but we want to do a full video bike check soon :)
My wife and I watch the videos together. We love the adventures. Do you have a discount code to Ari for new bikes? Thanks.
Not a discount exactly, but you can get a free tubeless with code "sydandmacky" ! Just make sure you add the tubeless upgrade to your order :) Thanks for watching!
I have to deal with wild donkey's every time I ride here in Southern California and sick and tired of them crapping right in the middle of the trails. But it's their home and I'm the invader. If you answer what chain lube do you use?Mine gets bad just after 2 hours of riding.
We have been using Squirt lube forever and love it!
@@sydandmacky Thank you
Cape Epic 2025?
Probably won't be 2025, but hopefully one day. Unfortunately it costs about 3-4x what this race does (and this wasn't exactly cheap either). It's definitely one we'd like to do but the expense and the timing (very big days very early season) have made it hard to justify.
You guys need some Fat Bikes!!! Would have made things much nicer!
definitely would have been nice on a few sections...just wait until you see the sandpits in the next video lol
7:15 What kind of a jackass stands in the road like that?
Right, what an ass!
@@sydandmacky No respect at all!
4:36 so someone is riding an alu hardtail with flat pedals and reflectors/dork disc? Gear means nothing if you enjoy yourself.
Getting newer or higher end bike equipment in Tanzania is very difficult, but the Tanzanian guys absolutely rallied what they had!
