So far, we’ve climbed up to 12,000 feet on Kilimanjaro, bush-whacked through the savannah, chased zebra down the trail and had a up close and personal encounter with an elephant. And somehow, this race just keeps getting wilder and wilder. Today, we’ll be riding through Maasai villages and into territory that few tourists, much less cyclists, have the opportunity to traverse.

There's a t-shirt Syd, "Am I going the right way or am I just following goats?" One of Life's eternal questions.
I would buy it in all the colors.
I'll buy one !!
The school kids 🥲Emotional for me to watch this stage back. Really appreciate how real it got for Lo, that last section is not easy.
I remember watching you do this. I couldn't get over the kids running out to say hello with such joy. Its a beautiful memory.
I cracked so hard @bcpov. This stage was unbelievable hard. Physically and mentally but also was damn glorious ❤❤❤
I know when the sad day that Macky ends his career he will have an amazing future as a coach. Lo has been amazing through out but Macky and his communication and just staying positive in some of the hardest situations ever has been amazing to see.
I actually think he should start now. He is amazing
Lo being an absolute savege on that stage, stellar work. Well done all of you!
I think Lo needs to penalized for not having the official team kit on. Seriously all I can say is WOW! I am blown away by what you are riding through, surviving and still able to keep your sense of humor. I would be down on the ground looking for someone to come rescue me.
Needs tarzan outfit
😂😂😂 we only got 4 kits and mine were all in rough shape. I mean at least I stayed with the animal print theme
15 minute time penalty at least
Lo does a fine job. Well done with the continual encouragement Macky. Those rock fields seemed like an extremely difficult challenge for sure.

Lo & Joe
Forever!!
Guinness World Record for most high-fives in a bike race. 😉
It seems like Tanzania is full of friendly people.
That scree looked gnarly 😮 amazing job to all of you, and I still absolutely adore Lo's self-talk. You all are amazing ❤
Everybody needs a riding partner like Macky!
This whole expedition is so incredible! Thank you for taking us all along :)
Props to the brave hardtail riders out there. Last section looked overwhelming.
That was a great episode! Thoroughly enjoyable. It had everything: emotion, pain, struggle, triumph! Mackey is such a good coach, and Lo is a Rockstar fighting through that. Syd and Joe are just beasts on bikes. Can't wait to see the next one. I guess it's time I signed up for Patreon....
Those "trails" at the end were rough as a cob. Great work getting through that gnar. Y'all did great. 👍💪👊
That looked brutal, well done by all.
What a grand adventure. I thought I saw angel wings on Mackie's back. I don't know how he does it. I saw blood after Lo fell. I hope she didn't get hurt badly.
What a great stage!! Loving this series...btw, the music ROCKS!!
One of your guy's best video series, and that's saying alot! Well done, the four of ya.
The super Biger BIKETRIP WEEEEEE YRAHHHHH BRUTALITIIIIIII HELLO FROM SPAIN BROTHERS
You guys are real troopers for riding all of that stuff. That tech stuff even would have been difficult on a motorcycle. Were the route planners trying to make sure none of you wanted to come back, like, ever? Wow. Kudo's to y'all.
just wait for day 5 haha
BRUTAL!!!!
Extra hug to Lo and the relatable range of her emotions
That is what I would call still under construction! That is some rough, choppy, nasty stuff you rode in this episode! Congrats to all of you for finishing! WOW! 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐 It is amazing how this stuff will test you!
You guys are awesome !!!! OMG !!! I would not survive the first kms !! Congrats !!!
That was BRUTAL! You all have super moxy or you would have quit! Good job. You all inspire me.
What an incredible adventure!
Another great video. Well done everyone. Thanks for sharing the experience
Mackey you would be a fantastic coach!!
you had me at the thumbnail! the best one ever!! classic
haha :)
Seriously enjoying this series! Great work!
Another great video. I really am feeling inspired by you guys to get out there and race again. I think this is the year I get back on the bike!
PLEASE DO!
It's mind over matter, if you don't mind it don't matter... way to go guys...
I have been saying that joke for 70 years. It is nice to see that I am not the only corny person out there, as my wife claims.
You guys crushed it! That looked sooo hard!
You're all freaking amazing 😍
Just riding through a wasteland of rocks and thorns with no good path is rough! You guys are tough!
I can relate to Lo, very few things I hate more than hike-a-bike!
I agree. Except for falling into a volcano after slipping on dog poop, or listening to Donald Trump speak, I hate hike-a-bike more than anything else.
Such hard going slogging over those rocks. It's good to see you wearing your "Blunnie" boots. Cheers from Australia.
at 12000 ft I'd need a medevac chopper...love you guys!!
I would need oxygen and Nitroglycerin.
Your all legends, we have a saying “Afrika is nie vir sissies nie”. Well done.
Translate, please.
I'm going to guess, Africa is not for sissies? haha
In that terrain, especially with lots of prey around, Zebras & wildebeest mainly, there will be Lions around.. They are hard to spot, but I'm sure you rode closer to them than you realise. Likewise at home in Australia, I see a poisonous snake about once every two years. There are many more I don't see.
Super-power the lot of you. After the gnarly rocks I expect you will announce your next group ride is - the moon.
Shipping mountain bikes to the Moon is very expensive.
That one looked a bit horrible at times guys. These challenges where, at times, you feel that you are being broken/cracked mentally and physically are so difficult. You can only really appreciate the achievement after completion. Well done.
Great race and footage1👍👍👍 Man... you were looking after this stage like coal miners! 😎👍
Great job!😎
You guys look like you just finished a 40 day challenge on "Naked and Afraid.."🤣🤣 Awesome stage🤙🤙
So like 45 minutes 😂😂😂😂
Macky took a minute to talk about the logistics of capturing all of this for us to see, and it really is an unbelievable burden. What makes you guys special is that you can perform at such a high level while functioning as your own camera crew and production team. Always spare batteries, memory cards, etc. I can even forgive Joe for missing the elephant-though that would have been sweet!
For anyone searching for the song used in the video, it is Umbélé by Ebo Krdum & Ooyy, so a sort of ethnic Sudanese folk/blues combined with Swedish EDM, an absolute banger of a tune! :) Link: th-cam.com/video/JhWU_yfACts/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for taking us along on this epic bibe ride with you!!
I have a very boring question: what sunscreen do y’all use? (I’m really struggling to find a good sport facial sunscreen )
Kroger brand 30 SPF. It's definitely nothing special.
Awesome ride!! Can you imagine a first world kid in that village? LOL I bet those kids don't complain about what they haven't got and just are happy with what they do have. Now I have to go have a nap because you all made me very tired. lol ;) :)
Not sure Jo knows a lot about road racing XD. I've been attacked in the feed zone so many times on the road lol
So, do I get to collect royalties for using my name for the tether? Billy represent!
More cowbell?!? :)
Navigation is amazingly hard to do, I would hate to go through it.
Curious as to why Syd & Macky use Stages computers instead of Garmin? Guessing you've answered this question before, but I'm about to add one to my biking and gathering data. Thanks!
We were Stages athletes until they shut down this year. We really like the Dash and would comfortably recommend it except for the lack of support moving forward since the company is gone. That being said, you might be able to find them really cheap now if you're willing to risk no tech support 🤔
Whoa I almost didn’t recognize you guys and you guys look like you age about 50 years rough out there huh? Dang Yella tow up.
WIN WIN JOB👍
How do you guys not get saddle soars from days in a row of riding?
Sores
Seriously considering flying to the next leg just to cheer ya'll on.
Can you carry something like bear spray, and if you did would it do you any good anyway if you should ever feel the need for it.
Nobody was very worried about the lions -- they mind their own business apparently. And I don't think bear spray would do much against an elephant!
How do you know you're on the right track
There’s ribbons tied to trees. Around the 28:40 minute mark you can see one.
We also had the course loaded on our head units, but there were many moments of uncertainty between ribbons! It's just part of the challenge.
😅 distinctly heard the words “attack Syd” so having heard this as an armchair referee, I say no penalty seconds….
Ha!
Riding Africa looks like a great experience, but those trail SUCK!
I wonder how the trails get chosen for the stages. Does Satan choose those? 😂
I think he has a hand in it!
thats no trail...thats a bunch of rocks pretending to be a trail.
😂😂😂
