I put this together yesterday and it wasn't too bad. I love everything other than the low pulley. It doesn't work very good for preacher curling because the stop rubs against the metal cable guard. Other than that, it's great. High pulley, chest fly, chest press, leg extension... all work great. I'll have to buy some dumbells or a curl bar for more effective preacher curls.
(1) Can you do an overhead press with it? (2) Do you know if you can add weights? (3) I'm concerned about its use for strength building rather than just fitness training. Do you think the 210 pounds resistance applies to the bench press? (4) Small correction: You used the term "press" incorrectly. A "press" is away, but you used the term to describe pulls of various types. A PULL can never be a PRESS.
@GlockNinja thx. would be nice if you could add another 100 pounds to what the gym has although if it didnt mention anything in the instruction manual about adding additional wieght, its PROBABLY not possible.
@busymavado12 Hahah, desk =). It's a preacher pad for preacher curls. You can buy that attachment for the XRS30 for $30.00. I bought the XRS30 and the preacher pad all together for $230.00 so it comes out cheaper than the XR45 and it has more weights (280 lbs max resistance I believe). I'll be picking it up tomorrow from Walmart and will be interested to see what all the hype is about when it comes to assembly.
This was very helpful. Can you re-upload and link to the video of you putting it together? Reading through the comments on Wal-Mart's site, I've seen a lot concerning difficulty putting this thing together, and I'm curious how it went for you.
@deleonericjohn24 Its about 210lbs of resistance but I think the weights all equal about 80 pounds. I might be wrong..but I know its not a lot...but the resistance is 210lbs max. The noise is from the weights moving up and down the rail / tubes and the cables moving through the pullies.
You can do modified Military Press by sitting on floor facing leg lift and position knees under pads. With straight bar attached to lower cable, lift bar overhead. You may need to lower back slightly.
Just a heads up. What you called a military press is called the lat pull down. It works the latissimus dorsi muscles, whereas the military press works the shoulders (deltoids).
Thanks for going through the different exercises and making this video! So many people just show the equipment without actually showing it being used. And forget about the internet-smarties who're whining about the names of the exercises.. who cares what its called.
@CajCoo for upstairs? yes.....it makes a clanking sound...but not all may do that. It may also depend on how well you put it together. If you live in Apartment, I would get something like bowflex...very quiet.
@arceisiah I looked at the weights and they are not marked. Total weight is 81 pounds. But the resistance way higher because I can barely budge the Max setting.
@GlockNinja I think this is made for teenagers, women, and smaller adult males. For serious body building, I think free weights and bigger machines are in order.
just order the xrs 30 197 walmart ithas more weight to it upto 280 resistance versus 210 and then order the preacher pad just like xr45 for 30 so for like 227 plus tax (verses 269 plus tax xr45) u get more weight resistance and it cheaper
I am not sure if you can purchase more weights and add them. I don't see why you can't. But I wouldn't expect too much expandability in an inexpensive system like this though.
yes...the leg cables are extremely harder than the higher pulley. If you are advanced in weight lifting, this machine will only serve as a warm up machine or to just keep you toned.
@TheHitAndKill Move slow and deliberately. Do one thing at a time. Follow the steps given to you in the diagrams. Expect to take all day. Don't rush. If you followed the directions...some parts do seem a little awkward but the cable are simple if you don't let it overwhelm you.
Great machine for the money! I bought in Jan and have lost 25lbs since i started working out on the machine. Would approve for anyone looking to get in shape and stay fit. Great vid.
@zombone3535 I do not do the cleaning in my house. But the vacuum cleaner we have is only 5lbs and although it is still exercise, I do not think it will build strength like weight training.
@bw2182 Anytime. If you use it regularly, you will notice getting stronger. Even if you only use it about 15 to 20 minutes every other day. It is still better than doing nothing.
@suelam0 No. It is not adjustable. I am 5ft 8in tall. I do not see you having any problems. My wife and mother in-law are 5'5 and 5'6, and they do not have any troubles. I think if you sat on a cushion or pad, I do not see you having problems. Its actually built for smaller people, I think.
@only1thedyb You are right about the leg lift exercises. They are very difficult. But if you take the pin out you will be left to lift the very bare minimum and you should be able to do some leg exercise no matter how much of a beginner you are. Unless of course if you have a disability or you are considerably of age.
I bought this gym because of this video last week, everything was great but the leg press/ sing the ankle strap is almost impossible. I used only one weight and it was extremely hard to lift
@MegaDeathwarrant If you use light weight settings maybe a few pounds. But this machine is mainly for strength and muscle build. But since muscle burns calories ...fat burning may occur. :-)
My video on putting it together was not really a instructional video. In fact I didn't really film it. I only took a few photos during the progress. I can tell you that I took my time and went very slow putting it together. I made sure I looked at the instruction several times before I completed each step. It took me all day. The hardest part was putting on the pulling system for the cables but if you go slow...you will make less mistakes.
@GlockNinja not what I ask but ok. Got any recent videos of urself after using this machine for 2 years? A picture of any changes?I ask cause I wanna know if it's made you bigger.
Thanks. I heard that the different pulleys have different resistance, have you noticed the higher pulley (lat pull down) having less resistance than the lower pulley (leg extension/bicep curl part). Just asking because I'm already pretty strong and I need a machine that won't be too light on the highest weight.
@RockIbanez85 It seemed like it took me all day, but I'm sure that all together it was about 3 1/2 hours. The trick is move at a very slow and steady speed. Don't be in a rush or you will make some mistakes. Moving slow, purposeful, and deliberate will help you not make mistakes and not get confused. Good luck :-)
Hey Glock, i ordered mine about 4 days ago cant wait to use it, looks like it was a pretty good buy especially for $277 =D. I think we should take some before and after pictures and compete
@crystosis I think it will be a bit of a squeeze at your height. Go to Dicks, Sears, and other department stores that carry gym equipment...even if they don't carry this exact model, try out the cheapest and smallest one they have and see how it feels. If those feel okay, then Gold Gym is not that much different.
@happymedontcry yes..very true. Same with mine. It is very hard but if you use only one or two weights, it is not impossible. If it feels impossible then perhaps you should make sure all of the cables are lined up properly. But you are right...it is very hard.
I have a similar machine and appreciate your video. My main complaint is the stability when I do the exercises where the bar is attached in the bottom front. The machine base plate ends right under the leg curl pads and I have to get really close to stand on the base plate during exercises like upright row. I couldn't tell if yours was the same. It seemed stable when you did those front exercises. Do you stand on top of the base plate?
To add another variation to below - sit on something to raise rear and put legs over lower pads to stabilize unit during lifting.
not sure what you are asking. But you can do leg lifts using the weights at the bottom.
@GlockNinja x Yeah, it cost around 219 but i bought the insurance thing and it doesnt have the desk thing like yours.
Just got this machine last week and wanted to see different workouts. Thanks for this very helpful demo
nice video I just ordered one from walmart online and it was only $257.00 so they dropped the price. Again thanks for the demo

#2 yes
@GlockNinja thx.

CAN YOU HELP ME OUT WITH PUTTING THE CABLES TOGETHER LIKE A VIDEO OF HOW THE CABLE LOOK FOR A BETTER VISUAL
Sorry, i moved and sold it. I didn't see this until now. ;-(
thx for the demonstration aswell. have been looking at this gym and a few others so nice to see it in action.
the pulley system the way it is set up makes you do more work; you can also add more weight stacks if you wanted.
@busymavado12 Hahah, desk =). It's a preacher pad for preacher curls. You can buy that attachment for the XRS30 for $30.00. I just bought this yesterday and this helped a lot .
How much weight does it go to for the chest press and the lat pull downs?
I can't remember. I sold it and moved years ago. :-(
Thanks for this! I bought one recently and learned some new uses from this demo. Very helpful.
@deleonericjohn24 Its about 210lbs of resistance but I think the weights all equal about 80 pounds. I might be wrong..but I know its not a lot...but the resistance is 210lbs max. The noise is from the weights moving up and down the rail / tubes and the cables moving through the pullies.
thanks alot i just got one and wasnt to sure about all those workouts i could do so thank you very much

Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video. After watching this and comparing prices of other machines I've decided that this is the machine I want to purchase.
Just a heads up. What you called a military press is called the lat pull down. It works the latissimus dorsi muscles, whereas the military press works the shoulders (deltoids).
Thanks. I'm no expert...so any corrections are welcomed.
Thanks for going through the different exercises and making this video!
So many people just show the equipment without actually showing it being used.
And forget about the internet-smarties who're whining about the names of the exercises.. who cares what its called.
Can you use the feet on a bottom (to kick up) for lifting up the weight?
Yes
@VampireLewisNight 220lbs max of resistance. The weights themselves are about 180lbs.
It comes with about 270lbs of weights. I think you can add more but not sure where you would order it. Perhaps from Gold's Gym.
@PinkFloydZ06 the weights are not that much....but the resistance is about 200lbs. if you are advanced...this is only good for toning.
@chunkymilkclusters2 The actual weight is about 82lbs. But the resistance at max setting is about 180lbs.
@pbeuck86 About 210lbs of total resistance. Not sure the actual total weight of the weights. But 210lbs of resistance is what it says on the ad.
@GlockNinja I think this is made for teenagers, women, and smaller adult males. For serious body building, I think free weights and bigger machines are in order.

Just made my purchase. Doing some extra investigation. This machine looks like it will work fine. Thanks for the demo.
your welcome.
Can you do a tricep pull down on this?
Yes
@joebety1 the weights are behind me on the bottom and it is pulled up by cables. ( Pully system).
I bought Gold's Gym XRS 30 System wish it came with more weights tho
I am not sure if you can purchase more weights and add them. I don't see why you can't. But I wouldn't expect too much expandability in an inexpensive system like this though.
yes...the leg cables are extremely harder than the higher pulley. If you are advanced in weight lifting, this machine will only serve as a warm up machine or to just keep you toned.
Rt on bro for the testing!!You made me a believer!!😎😁Gonna get 1 now!
@TheHitAndKill Move slow and deliberately. Do one thing at a time. Follow the steps given to you in the diagrams. Expect to take all day. Don't rush. If you followed the directions...some parts do seem a little awkward but the cable are simple if you don't let it overwhelm you.
Thank you brotha for the demo
@Jaysofresh15 that maybe true...but the resistance is 210lbs. max.
you're very welcome. Thank you for watching.
thank you for watching. I've been using it lately and it works good. Good for strength training and certainly better than not working out at all.
you are welcome. I am certain you will like this machine.
you're welcome. Thanks for watching.
in total weight it is 81lbs. But the resistance is greater than the measured weight. So 81lbs feels like 210lbs.
Glad to hear it. I have one of these XR45's and feel a lot better knowing that I am effectively lifting more than it appears.
hi great video this machine just got way cooler! :) can you demonstrate the leg curl?
Great machine for the money! I bought in Jan and have lost 25lbs since i started working out on the machine. Would approve for anyone looking to get in shape and stay fit. Great vid.
@busymavado12 I'm sure the newer models will give you more or have improved design. But I'm glad the price is the same.
The leg lifts are very hard on mine too.
@zombone3535 I do not do the cleaning in my house. But the vacuum cleaner we have is only 5lbs and although it is still exercise, I do not think it will build strength like weight training.
yep. I think you will like it.

While he was doing the demo I was expecting him to shift and say the Gangnam Style!
LOL I probably would have gotten more views.
Hey man nice video. About how many hours did it takes
@raven28690 I am not sure. But if you can, I can't see you being able to add a lot.
the bar comes down almost to the bench but not quite.
This is a good one for the right price. Just make sure you put it together right and it will work okay.
I recently buy one, but i'd like to know a excercise's routine, help me please
What is the maximum weight on this? Like the weider 2980 has a max of 214 lbs resistance.
Muchas gracias,saludos desde México!
so it is kind of noisy... do you think its too noisy for an apartment?
@only1thedyb You are right about the leg lift exercises. They are very difficult. But if you take the pin out you will be left to lift the very bare minimum and you should be able to do some leg exercise no matter how much of a beginner you are. Unless of course if you have a disability or you are considerably of age.
I bought this gym because of this video last week, everything was great but the leg press/ sing the ankle strap is almost impossible. I used only one weight and it was extremely hard to lift
How heavy can the weight go?
@@_JackDoesStuff from my memory 250lbs.
@MegaDeathwarrant If you use light weight settings maybe a few pounds. But this machine is mainly for strength and muscle build. But since muscle burns calories ...fat burning may occur. :-)
It says 81 lbs. DuraStack Weights and Up to 210 lbs. of Resistance how do you change the 81 lbs. weights to the 210 lbs. Resistance?
mine is noisy like yours...was wondering if that was normal
It defintely made some noise from friction of the cables and the weights hitting each other. But i didnt think it was too loud.
no shoulder presses and squats?

Thanks. Its not as smooth as the ones you will find at the gym but it will give you a good work out. I like it.
the Gold's Gym XRS 30 System is only 197.
im definitely coppin one
@mcserve You're welcome. I hope you get a lot of use out of it.
is there a link to your assembly video still? i am having trouble once i got to the cable assembly, etc. identifying pulleys and such.
Its somewhere on my channel. But its not a step by step instructional video. If you can't find it, I might have taken it down.
Hey Glock, i ordered mine about 4 days ago cant wait to use it, looks like it was a pretty good buy especially for $277 =D. I think we should take some before and after pictures and compete
Planning on getting one...I am around 6'2" . Would it still be fine?
Have you had any wear issues with the XR-45 ? Is the nylon coated cable still in good shape ?
Are pulleys still in good working condition ?
Mine has held up fine for years now. I got mine second hand. I don't even apply any oil or do any maintenance.
@cobra06608 that's great. I hope you get to and stay at your desired weight.
@crystosis I think it will be a bit of a squeeze at your height. Go to Dicks, Sears, and other department stores that carry gym equipment...even if they don't carry this exact model, try out the cheapest and smallest one they have and see how it feels. cables + pullys are mad hard to put together ... help?
that is great to hear. I hope you get a lot of use out of it. :-)
thank you. Means a lot to me.
@happymedontcry yes..very true. Same with mine. It is very hard but if you use only one or two weights, it is not impossible. If it feels impossible then perhaps you should make sure all of the cables are lined up properly. But you are right...it is very hard.

yes, I was standing on the foot / base.
@laffertyhillbillies can you do a video to show us? I am curious.
where your video were you put it together
yes..it comes with plates.
whats the reason why it makes noise? and how much stack lb. is included? ty
can you buy and add additional weights to the machine?
Hey dumb question but do you think the Gold's Gym Platinum System II would make much a different vs Gold's Gym XR-45 ?!?!?
great vid glock i need to get a indoor work out gym
how much is each weight?
