    Excellent video Pascal!
    An added tip for those doing this mod: buy a molex 3 pin male fan connector with a small cable and solder the cable on the PCB side. This way you now essentially have a swappable 3-pin fan connection and you don’t have to cut your fans cable.

    I guess Aputure should hire you to fix the fan noise for their models. Doing this kind of tech work is time consuming and risky. Cool to watch though.

    Can I ask why you did not choose the Noctua NF-A9 FLX 92mm fan ? Personally I have found that they run the quiest long term, last the longest. Also I did wonder if heat resistant was an issue with the fan materials. Lastly Nanlite make an even more powerful budget light the FS-300 (300 watt) and apparently that has the same cheap, loud fan noise issue. If at some point you get an FS-300 and change out the fan on that I am sure there would be many people who would like to see that as well.

    • @PascalRichter11
      @PascalRichter11  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As mentioned in the video, the Noctua 92mm FLX has a lower fan speed than regular 92mm fans from other brands. 1600 rpm max is NOT what I recommend, as the targeted "medium" constant fan speed of the Aputure is 1500 rpm and there is not much headroom with the Noctua. Noctuas are usually the quietest due to good hardware AND low fan speeds! People very often forget about the lack of RPM and do not check airflow and cooling performance. Fans are NOT magic :)
      BeQuiet is a brand I would also consider reliable and the 92mm fan I used has 1900 rpm max and runs incredibly silent, too.

      @@PascalRichter11 well there's actually the A9 PWM that is much higher RPM. You just cut the PWM cable out and you're good to go! I'll post my video of replacing the 200D fans with it in the next few days :)

    • @PascalRichter11
      @PascalRichter11  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ReHWolution that version might work, you are right. Though reviews say that it is not really quiet at 2000 rpm (as mentioned - no magic here). It has a nice and low sound profile for sure, but it is not going to make a world of a difference.
      Most importantly, that rattling sound needed to go. The beQuiet I used is only 2/3 the price of the Noctua and still really quiet :) Good luck with your exchange!

    • @bearface9926
      @bearface9926 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PascalRichter11 I just put a Noctua 92mm FLX in my 200x and it seems to work great. I'm getting readings no higher than 62 degrees C in a room with an ambient temperature of 22 degrees C with the light set to 100% at 5600K. Before the swap, I wasn't able to get the stock fan to spin any faster than ~1550 rpm on smart or medium fan speed (via the app), and I was getting about the same temperature readings - no higher than 62 degrees C. Have you seen the 200d's stock fan or the BeQuiet fan spin faster in a hotter environment? What temps are you seeing on the 200d? Thanks for the video, by the way - couldn't have done my mod without it!

    it's hard not to wonder that considering all the youTube and bad reviews because of the fan. Why have they not fixed it if the fix is this simple? Aputure should just bite the bullet and change out their fans in the assembly process. I see review after review where this problem is discussed. How many have been sent back?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      10 dollars for a consumer would be quite a massive cost for the company. You should look at the cooling fans used in Alexa mini and so on. Still way cheaper than what could be put in aftermarket.

    • @JimRobinson-colors
      @JimRobinson-colors 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ It wouldn't cost them 10 dollars, the manufacture would then not need to purchase the existing fan as well.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JimRobinson-colors Well, let's say they still buy it bulk and don't have to pay all the taxed we pay here the increase in cost for end product when you just increase 10 cents.

    • @HikingWithCooper
      @HikingWithCooper 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be well worth an extra $20 to not have that noise. Subtract out what they paid for the bad fans and youd probably only pay 10 more. Mine is arriving tomorrow, fingers crossed this latest batch went through qc.

    • @PascalRichter11
      @PascalRichter11  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I worked with both, but do not own the 300D II personally. As far as I can tell, they are both very close together. We are talking about such low db values, they disappear together with the remaining room tone. Levels in my comparison at the beginning were boosted. While working with these lights for my videos here for example, I do not notice them anymore.
