Agreed! The only thing holding me back from this light is the fan noise. I've also seen Pascals vid which is an amazing fix but I'm kinda scared to solder and void my warranty. 😅
Big difference in noise! I'm still waiting on a preorder I placed back at release for a 100x in Aus... Seems most places haven't had that model in stock and I steered clear of the 200 range because of the fans. Now I'm considering grabbing one and fan swapping! Great idea
I’ve only just realised they’ve had stock issues with this one! I got mine early days off an eBay listing. I think mine was the second batch with a better yoke but the same noisy fan.
In every video I've noticed they always show the sound when it's recorded RIGHT next to the light. But never in a real setting. Where the light would be off to the side while you were interviewing someone. That would answer if it was worth it and whether or not you could hear it while using it.
Yeah, it’s more for comparison than real world. Truth is the 200d was pretty much useless for close lighting in interview setups before the mod. BUT they may have changed things now so I am not sure on newer items. Mine was an original first run item with a terrible sounding fan.
I think the smallrigs are really good lights. Not sure on fan noise but I think they are a bit better than the unmodified 200Ds because the original fan in my 200D was horrible
did you tested sidus link? At wedding i loose connection after 5 minutes and need to reconnect before i want change any settings. Its not good because if i want fast change light intensity i cant.
@@MichaelDrowley Thank you for answer. Yes its work, but you look unprofessional when you say: ohh wait i need reconnect because connection lost with the lamp. :D But yes. Its an indie group lamp with professional light quality and high power. I can imitate sunlight if put trought outside a window with hyper reflector and its cool.
@@eszesfilms1651 Yeah, I understand when you have to delink it might cause problems for you on set. in your case for that particular fixture you might have to be able to go to the fixture and change directly. I feel the light storm 120d and 300d also might be better if you need immediate changes without the app as they come with a remote.
@@MichaelDrowley yes maybe but here was 505 eur this light. In Hungary to much vat 27% every product and here you can ask 70-80 eur for a real estate video to an agency. So you can calculate it. This light here was not cheap. :D I can live with this plug-in thing, i was just worried that maybe my product was faulty. I oreded this one for local corporate and commercial works and some of my passion projects, but u found usefull on a wedding. While hotel room doesnt enought light i can easy help for little acessory detail shots and for bride preparing. I use in party to get a harsh backlight over the dj shoulder. (dj always love it because helps eliminate their colorful lights :D but they don't grumble about it that much) Its a great light i think. I look forward to having more of it. Unfortunately, it is difficult to obtain.

How does the fan compare to the new smallrig 220 fan? Seems like a solid alternative if the fan is quieter

Yeah, you do have to reconnect to change after initial setup.
But just load the app and it loads all the fixtures automatically, but it does take 30 or so seconds
