One time we were camping and a storm came...so we drove into town got a hotel room ordered pizza and wings and watched movies all night..I love the great outdoors

Hello Ted Hello Heather and Hello Bella Beans, thanks for another adventure. Yikes that uphill terrain was pretty tuff going Heather and 100/100 % for getting to the top. What a trooper. As those storm cells passing over you, was for me pretty scary stuff. Did you know that during lightening your video camera becomes a “conductor” ! Yeah dangerous as lightening is attracted to it. After a lightening strike you count how many seconds as in one and two and three, before thunder bellows, you count how seconds and gives you the approximate miles away the storm is and if it’s leaving or coming across you. Simples. LoL 😂 but you knew that right? What a fantastic camp site in both locations as well been able to swim as a whole family enjoying yourselves. Thanks for sharing this video. Wow, what a day that was…. Epic in every way… so we got Bella slurping on turtle egg shell, then Ted saves the baby bird😌👌💕, then lightening hits the water just off camp….. N Heather saves the day with pizza. Great “Disney Movie” guys. Extra day superb…. the fish gave his life for Heathers growling tummy haha…… Turning back was the best choice you both made. Yes, Bella reminds me of Bobby's two yellow labs. On Christmas Day, Cody would retrieve his gifts, on command; and, Jake would retrieve his gifts, on command. So incredibly cute! Randy
Ted, I understand your frustration with storms. We were on a 7-day trip to Dogtooth up by Kenora, and were cabin bound for 3 days- real Canadian Cabin shakers! Non-stop... too crazy . Another trip to Cedar Lake Camp in 2012, crazy storm flipped one of Southern Lights Float Planes at the dock, power outage and trees down all over the lake.... It filled my Skeeter Bass Boat up to 4 inches below the gunnels. It's got to be scary camping in this stuff. I quit camping when I left the US ARMY in 1981. I love NW Ontario and have been fishing up there since 1996. In 2008, I and another guy went down from Dogtooth to Kagagi (Crow Lake) to fish muskies for a day, and a late afternoon storm came from the East, crazy wind and lightning. The storm was moving at ~40mph. The only thing that saved us was the speed of my boat as the public dock is on west shore at Nestor Falls. Once my boat was out, I helped another guy (Bob Pieskie's son) load his boat and was standing in water up to my waist to get it on his trailer. Bob P. has fished the area for +50 years, and is as good of a fisherman as they come. The drive back to Dogtooth was harrowing too. The guy I was fishing with thought we could pull up on an island and wait it out on Kagagi, I said, "NOT, put your life jacket on and sit down"........that would have been a miserable choice. But in the end you say to yourself "Now that was wicked and we survived". But it makes memories!

Hello! In this video there is all the charm of the night storm and be protected by a tent shell. There is being a family gathered in front of a crackling fire. Everything is built together. Building together is the most beautiful thing that can be there. A common journey is undertaken and one simply lives. Here too we use the famous 'made in italy' Knorr food. In fast lunches there is nothing better than a dehydrated and tasty ‘risotto alla milanese’ (rice with saffron) or ‘risotto’ with asparagus. Bye from Kanaltaler NE Italy

The further u go the more remote and its still easy to find true wilderness...I hope it remains that way for the sake of everyone not just Canadians. Its def hard to get to wild places the deeper we get into cities. Believe it or not I used to work in Manhattan on and off for a few yrs

Hey Ted, I have been binge watching these old videos so I don't know if you will see this comment. I have noticed the the tarp shelter you set up with the outrigger poles, or canoe paddles is kinda unique to you and your brother. I don't recall seeing many "Bush-crafter's, or outdoors-men (or women) use this setup. I think You should call this the "Baird Brothers shelter". You and Jim use this setup every time. And I have used sail before yes its amazing Nothing fancy just 2 poles in the middle with a big garbage bag over them for a tail wind it works awesome but is risky if the wind catches it the wrong way...but sometimes we just fly like that. I'll try to make a point of doing it in a future vid 😁😉 Do you celebrate Thanksgiving?

I was camping in and a storm much like that one hit. I packed up and went home. You guys are braver than I am. There was also a snake. Snakes are a deal breaker for me.
Lol I hear you sometimes it's hard to tough it out or it's just not worth it...and some snakes are very dangerous also. We tried to find a way to enjoy it as we were stuck anyway no Road where we were. In the end it was a cool experience and we had a lot of fun. :)

Yes, Bella reminds me of Bobby's two yellow labs. On Christmas Day, Cody would retrieve his gifts, on command; and, Jake would retrieve his gifts, on command. So incredibly cute! Randy

Ted, I understand your frustration with storms. We were on a 7-day trip to Dogtooth up by Kenora, and were cabin bound for 3 days- real Canadian Cabin shakers! Non-stop... too crazy . Another trip to Cedar Lake Camp in 2012, crazy storm flipped one of Southern Lights Float Planes at the dock, power outage and trees down all over the lake.... It filled my Skeeter Bass Boat up to 4 inches below the gunnels.
It's got to be scary camping in this stuff. I quit camping when I left the US ARMY in 1981. I love NW Ontario and have been fishing up there since 1996. In 2008, I and another guy went down from Dogtooth to Kagagi (Crow Lake) to fish muskies for a day, and a late afternoon storm came from the East, crazy wind and lightning. The storm was moving at ~40mph. The only thing that saved us was the speed of my boat as the public dock is on west shore at Nestor Falls. Once my boat was out, I helped another guy (Bob Pieskie's son) load his boat and was standing in water up to my waist to get it on his trailer. Bob P. has fished the area for +50 years, and is as good of a fisherman as they come. The drive back to Dogtooth was harrowing too. The guy I was fishing with thought we could pull up on an island and wait it out on Kagagi, I said, "NOT, put your life jacket on and sit down"........that would have been a miserable choice. But in the end you say to yourself "Now that was wicked and we survived". But it makes memories!

Hello! In this video there is all the charm of the night storm and be protected by a tent shell. There is being a family gathered in front of a crackling fire. Everything is built together. Building together is the most beautiful thing that can be there. A common journey is undertaken and one simply lives. Here too we use the famous 'made in italy' Knorr food. In fast lunches there is nothing better than a dehydrated and tasty ‘risotto alla milanese’ (rice with saffron) or ‘risotto’ with asparagus. Bye from Kanaltaler NE Italy

What a great camping trip, gotta love Crown Land! I travel it quite a bit in my neck of the woods. That Bella is a riot, thought when she was eating turtle egg shells you might be covered in more puke in the tent that night! hahahahahahaha! You are right about what more could you ask for? Hey man Thanks a lot we appreciate the compliment 😁 and yes we r pretty fortunate to have so many will places and wilderness left. This place is about 3 hr drive from Toronto then the canoe paddle. The further u go the more remote and its still easy to find true wilderness...I hope it remains that way for the sake of everyone not just Canadians. Its def hard to get to wild places the deeper we get into cities. Believe it or not I used to work in Manhattan on and off for a few yrs

Lol nothing like a little dog puke....ya not sure about the boats weird but think there is a hunt lodge that stashes them but never seen anyone in there 🤷♂️

Hey Ted, I have been binge watching these old videos so I don't know if you will see this comment. I have noticed the the tarp shelter you set up with the outrigger poles, or canoe paddles is kinda unique to you and your brother. I don't recall seeing many "Bush-crafter's, or outdoors-men (or women) use this setup. I think You should call this the "Baird Brothers shelter". You and Jim use this setup every time. Great use of what is available to make a strong shelter. Well done! Peace to you and Heather, and of course the firecracker Bella!.

Nothing fancy just 2 poles in the middle with a big garbage bag over them for a tail wind it works awesome but is risky if the wind catches it the wrong way...but sometimes we just fly like that. I'll try to make a point of doing it in a future vid 😁😉 Do you celebrate Thanksgiving?

I was camping in and a storm much like that one hit. I packed up and went home. You guys are braver than I am. There was also a snake. Snakes are a deal breaker for me.
Lol I hear you sometimes it's hard to tough it out or it's just not worth it...and some snakes are very dangerous also. We tried to find a way to enjoy it as we were stuck anyway no Road where we were. In the end it was a cool experience and we had a lot of fun. :)

I myself have been in a wicked storm like that , it is scary when you see it coming, as when it hits , for me there was lightning and wind as well, beautiful area real nice video folks love that ball of fire in the sky, nice shot looked epic in the rain
