Man this is surreal. When I was a kid, my family used to go to Weirs Beach for a week every summer in August. My Dad always rented a motorboat and we'd just ride all across Lake Winnipesaukee. The Funspot was like a magical wonderland for me and my brother, and we'd ask our parents to go multiple times throughout the week. It's been 10 years since we went on that trip. My Dad just passed last month, and we're planning to go up to the Lake in August to scatter his ashes. As always, Stephen and Mal, thank you for everything, but thank you especially for this trip down memory lane.
Hey just wanted to say been watching yall for about 7 years now and I just got into medical school. Your videos were the background noise to every lunch break, so thank you for being so chill and cool throughout the years. It's hard finding unproblematic normal people to watch hahaha. yall were a small but important part of my journey :)
After watching the vlog for many, many years, it is unbelievably cool to see vlogs set in my home state for the first time. This vlog was completely worth the wait; I'm so happy you guys enjoyed New Hampshire!!
My parents live right near Laconia. My siblings and I used to go to Funspot all the time. It's kind of amazing that this enormous arcade is just kinda tucked away in our little corner of the world.
Seeing that old-timey "Shoot the Bear" game reminds me of all the really old-timey arcade stuff I used to see whenever I'd go to Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum when I was growing up. If you guys are ever here in Michigan, be sure to check the place out for yourself sometime. It's an _amazing_ place. Nowhere near as big as Funspot, but just seeing all the old-timey stuff is a real sight to behold. I'm hoping to show the place to my nephew someday.
23:07 That woman is playing Galaga! She didn't think we'd notice, but we did! (Oh wait, she probably did figure we'd notice. 'Cause, y'know...camera...)
Massive seratonin shot when I saw the Spider Stomper! Lots of stuff in this arcade is so indigenous to Northeastern old arcades, it was great reminiscing watching this.
Only 3 and a half minutes into the vlog and Mal freaking over everything that has "Weirs" on it reminds me so much of me. My name, Crystal, is on almost everything so I'm always like, "this is mine, I own hot sauce, water" etc.
The gator and spider games gave me so much nostalgia for the Discovery Zone They also had the coolest giant foam blocks you could climb and push around and build forts with, and a zipline, and a ballpit
The car cam is kinda nice, it captured a really cute moment of you two just interacting without you thinking about being filmed. It’s really cute how entuthiastic Mal gets over the signs
Wow this is such a nostalgia trip. My parents had a timeshare that we went to every year in NH for many years that's about an hour from that arcade. This unlocked some serious memories that I had completely forgotten. In particular, there was one machine that my dad (stereotypical stoic manly man who never seemed interested in games) got super into because it was what he used to play when he was a kid. It was one probably the only time I ever got to play a game with him, which is such a precious memory now that he's pretty sick. Thank you for this trip down memory lane I really needed this.
Galloping Ghost is in Brookfield, a Chicago suburb! They claim themselves to be the largest arcade in the US to not tread on Funspot’s toes, which claims to be the largest in the world. GG is just the arcade game cabinets, no ticket redemption or anything like that. If you guys are ever in or around Chicago, their arcade and pinball are worth checking out! There’s also a zoo over there really worth a day’s visit.
I love integrating the dash cam to show Mallory holding the camera for the vlog. Can we just pause a moment and appreciate how much Mal is willing to put up with?
Ah yes, Farmington. My childhood town. Just to clear up any confusion, Weirs Beach is just the beach area in the city of Laconia; it is not a separate town.
I've been so excited for the Funspot vlog to come out! I live pretty close so I've been here many many times~ I even had a few birthday parties here when I was a kid :) Glad you had fun!
I've seen one of those Playchoice-10s before! Fun fact, those cabinets are one of the last arcade systems Nintendo ever produced. It was one of the only ways you could play Super Mario Bros. 3 before its official North American release date.
Funspot is my childhood home away from home. I really am glad you enjoyed your time there and thank you for bringing more attention to our little neck of the woods.
Seeing all those arcade machines reminds me of MagFest where there is a Huge arcade on the convention floor. Also did you talk to the owner of Player's Choice about this?
Funspot seems like the kind of place to go and anyone who’s played arcades as a kid including me would find something nostalgic. I wish I could go there one day.
Funspot is one of my favorite places to visit. It’s about 2 hours away from where I live, haven’t checked out their other activities besides the arcade games but will have to take a look next time
This was a really good example of old-time Americana arcade, very different to the old seafront arcade tradition here in the UK - some of the early 90s-era stuff reminded me of machines I saw in Canada at the West Edmonton Mall or the arcade at the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls.
The mini golf game was a lot of fun to watch. Mainly to see the miniature replicas and memorabilia at each of the holes. I'll definitely have to check out Fun Spot if I am ever in New Hampshire
Really amazed to see so many retro games (that could probably considered antique at this point) in one spot! And yeah, going to an arcade early and during off-season definitely gives different vibes than usual.
That is amazing I live in England I've haven't been to a arcade gallery for ages it would be nice to play some classic arcade games and pinball tables one day especially ones that are Nintendo and Sega themed thank you Stephen and Mal for showing me classic arcade games and pinball tables that is part of my childhood I would like to own a Arcade gallery one day in the future that will be amazing and outstanding thank you for showing me this vlog episode from your biggest fan in the world Jamie.
FunSpot looks like an amazing place, I’ll have to add it to the list of places I’d like to go someday; but in the meantime I’ll live vicariously through your past selves… so as always thank you for sharing the experience with us.
Omg funspot was CHILDHOOD. I went with friends recently after we all got vaccinated. It's so surreal seeing you driving in places I've literally been! Like, i literally recognized the roads the moment they showed up on screen
So, instead of "Nash-you-wuh", it's just "Nash-wuh". My old college was probably about 40 minutes north of Manchester! I was in a teeny tiny town called Henniker.
Oh hey, now we can refer back to this vlog from the first mini-golf episode done here, now that it's posted proper. XD EDIT: 25:32 I've actually had the chance to play in an After Burner arcade machine much like this one when I was younger, and let me tell you straight up, it is an absolute *BLAST* to play in. Imagine a cabinet that you had to sit in that had surround sound, full motion with not only the machine itself, but the screen as well, and the fast-paced action that After Burner provides. It is an absolute *thrill*, and I'm so glad to see that this place has one, despite the apparent pain it has with upkeep. =D
So we have a Fun Spot down here in Florida that I ended up going to *years* ago for my birthday with my family (I might've been 10 at the time?) and I had a blast! I do remember they had games, but it was also like an amusement park with some rides and it even had 4 different go kart tracks! It was lots of fun for sure!
I'm pretty sure the Fun Spot amusement parks (officially called Fun Spot America, I think) in Florida and Georgia are actually completely unrelated to the Funspot arcade in New Hampshire. They just happen to have similar names and a few similar attractions, like the arcade games and mini golf.
I have a friend that lives in Nashua, though not at the time this vlog was filled so it's interesting hearing familiar places like that and Merrimack. I remember suggesting a couple of Rhode Island game stores so I'm curious to see if my state is shown at all!
@28:03 pencil appeared! XD So I'm curious, when did you eventually realise that pencil was there? :D Thank you for bringing us along on a trip down memory lane! 😀
Also I see the Manchester in New Hampshire seems to have as much rain as its namesake in England, seeing as it was raining specifically there yet nowhere else you went :D
OK this is one of my favorite vlogs of all time , that red SNK arcade cabinet i play it a lot at store near my house in Mexico, how it got there not sure but it was there and play a lot when i was a kid of course i mostly play Metal Slug and King Of fighters when other kids were there and lost a lot XD
i love space harrier, i want to go on one of those cockpit cabinets! It made me laugh that a game where you specifically and famously don't control a plane (they were going to put in a Harrier jump jet and then changed their mind), and therefore have no cockpit, has a cockpit cabinet.
Hey stephen I recently got back into collecting games and I have a question where do you download your labels and how do you print them. and also where do you buy your cases
Uh I played the spider game too when we were visiting my family in Argentina. I had my sister help me cheat so we would get a high score and the we would cheat again because if you pulled the tickets carefully instead of rippin them, more would roll out of the machine! I think I only ever got enough for a Hello Kitty lineal though. But a GREAT memory!
Man this is surreal. When I was a kid, my family used to go to Weirs Beach for a week every summer in August. My Dad always rented a motorboat and we'd just ride all across Lake Winnipesaukee. As always, Stephen and Mal, thank you for everything, but thank you especially for this trip down memory lane.
So sorry for your loss! Thank you for sharing this special connection with us.

Looking at this and knowing that arcades have not gone fully extinct just makes me happy.
Hey just wanted to say been watching yall for about 7 years now and I just got into medical school. It's hard finding unproblematic normal people to watch hahaha. yall were a small but important part of my journey :)
Comments like these are really meaningful, so thanks for letting us be apart of your life. Go do great things!
When are you going to the basement to start that heist, Lester's getting impatient

Idk why but there's something weirdly amusing about seeing the dashcam record Mal holding the Vlog camera
Looks fun actually, kinda sad how empty it looked though.

Wait a minute, that’s the FunSpot that I went to. Oh my god, I missed that place a lot
23:07 That woman is playing Galaga! She didn't think we'd notice, but we did! (Oh wait, she probably did figure we'd notice. 'Cause, y'know...camera...)
I understood that referance

1:15 Reminds me so much of Norway during the winter :)

Dat Moment when you're still waiting for the rest of April 2018 & May 2018 Vlogs to come out
The comeback from Stephen during Pong gave me old arcade nostalgia
Now this was a trip for me. Been going up here for years and seeing you two IN Laconia, IN Funspot, was wild to me. So many memories there
I remember that Wacky Gator game, too, Stephen. I had a small arcade growing up, and I recall playing that numerous times, too.
I've been so excited for the Funspot vlog to come out! I live pretty close so I've been here many many times~ I even had a few birthday parties here when I was a kid :)
Glad you had fun!

Super pumped you guys got to experience Funspot! Glad you enjoyed it!
For some reason, watching them just go around and play random arcade games really makes me wish for a relationship like theirs.
Funspot is my childhood home away from home. I really am glad you enjoyed your time there and thank you for bringing more attention to our little neck of the woods.
Funspot looks amazing. The place in Chicago is Galloping Ghost which I can’t recommend enough.
Cheffcon road trip would be awesome
I think Jon and Jirad would love that place
Seeing all those arcade machines reminds me of MagFest where there is a Huge arcade on the convention floor.
Also did you talk to the owner of Player's Choice about this?
Wow! A working space harrier cabinet !You have no idea how rare that is. Looks like it works perfectly..
Funspot seems like the kind of place to go and anyone who’s played arcades as a kid including me would find something nostalgic. I wish I could go there one day.
Funspot is one of my favorite places to visit. It’s about 2 hours away from where I live, haven’t checked out their other activities besides the arcade games but will have to take a look next time
Vlogs until end of old timeline: 49.
Now we just need a "Georg's Beach" and we'll be all set!
Oh wow I could easily spend an entire day there, it looks amazing 😍 It's nice to know that arcades are still alive and well in some places.
I love FUNSPOT. I Gotta go at least 3 times a year
I was also thinking about Mal and her family when me and my family went to Weirs Beach last year.
This was a really good example of old-time Americana arcade, very different to the old seafront arcade tradition here in the UK - some of the early 90s-era stuff reminded me of machines I saw in Canada at the West Edmonton Mall or the arcade at the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls.

Im going here next week and im so excited!
Really amazed to see so many retro games (that could probably considered antique at this point) in one spot! And yeah, going to an arcade early and during off-season definitely gives different vibes than usual.
Funspot! The place at the end of The King of Kong where Steve Wiebe and an absent Billy Mitchell duke it out for arcade Donkey Kong high scores!
9:06 stephen imitating keppy
even if I don't really expect to ever be in a position to be driving near there, it was pretty cool to see funspot on video
FunSpot looks like an amazing place, I’ll have to add it to the list of places I’d like to go someday; but in the meantime I’ll live vicariously through your past selves… so as always thank you for sharing the experience with us.
Only a month and a half left till you are all caught up! Best of luck. Funspot looked amazing!
I never went to Funspot but I went to many other arcades in New Hampshire and I recognize a lot of the games. It's so very nostalgic to me
It’s better than Bowlero and Dave and busters in 2022!!! Thanks for uploading it.
Omg funspot was CHILDHOOD. I went with friends recently after we all got vaccinated.
It's so surreal seeing you driving in places I've literally been! Like, i literally recognized the roads the moment they showed up on screen

Funspot! My wife and I went to Lincoln NH for our honeymoon this past September and happened to stop there after we went to lake winnipesaukee.
Now to add this spot to my bucket list.
Oh hey, now we can refer back to this vlog from the first mini-golf episode done here, now that it's posted proper. XD

Been to Funspot twice, definitely need to check out the mini golf course there sometime soon
I think I remember the spider stomping machine being over in the UK as well!
i just stopped at a scenic overlook like a week ago and i never really do that so i do appreciate that timing with my journey lol
6:35 I've literally NEVER seen Bowler Roller!
So we have a Fun Spot down here in Florida that I ended up going to *years* ago for my birthday with my family (I might've been 10 at the time?) and I had a blast! He rembered the day! What sorcery is this. The puzzle bobble game at 25:19 is the first mobile game I ever played
As a soon to be senior in college in the fall, it’s weird to be watching vlogs from when I was a senior in high school
I love funspot and it’s glorious to see this again I hope you go back
19:14 Wait a minute… isn’t that the arcade game that Turbo interfered with in the Wreck it Ralph movie?
Do you still have the cup?
We do! :D
I literally just went there this week after 15 years.
This is cool! Did they have a polybius?
Oh man. I live in Maine. Maybe one day I ought to make a pilgrimage to this arcade over in NH. It looks so cool.
barcade in nyc is way smaller but has a lot of cool stuff, and a playchoice cabinet oddly enough
I have a friend that lives in Nashua, though not at the time this vlog was filled so it's interesting hearing familiar places like that and Merrimack. I remember suggesting a couple of Rhode Island game stores so I'm curious to see if my state is shown at all!
Oh man, i wish i had an arcade like that in my neighborhood!
Ah I see an AR max there. I have one that’s been long broken that I keep for nostalgia. Such good times with those with my GBA XD
I just went to an arcade recently
It was the first arcade I’ve went to in so long since there’s there’s barely any where I live
Lol careful Steven, I heard some 80’s music for a second while you were walking around admiring the cabinets
@28:03 pencil appeared! XD So I'm curious, when did you eventually realise that pencil was there? :D Thank you for bringing us along on a trip down memory lane! 😀
Stephen and Mal from the past have fun in an arcade
Me: "We used to have fun once..."
Hopefully we'll be back to that soon!

Hey stephen I recently got back into collecting games and I have a question where do you download your labels and how do you print them. and also where do you buy your cases
1:20 Stephen, honey. That's a lake, not a pond. XD
It's good that they have a Hercules machine in that condition. According to TV tropes, they are a BITCH to maintain.
I once played one in Hersheypark
...... That's the first time, in my life, I've seen the Road Runner get caught. I didn't know that was possible.
I wonder how many people were confused about why Mal was excited about the Weir things.
More then three years late and Funspot is still the biggest arcade in the world. I guess that place in Chicago didn’t have anything to back it up.
34:17 Videogame store bumper anyone?
"...money c:"
Kickass
oh, yeah, you got a rental car because you didn't trust your old Ford to survive the trip
At 25:27, all I can think of is "BEEFURU!!!"
You can tell you guys played mini golf, because Stephen has a pencil behind his ear.
love skee ball
You know, I've been to New Hampshire tons of times but I don't think I've ever tried going to Funspot. Maybe I should...
i was wondering where this vlog was when i saw the golf stuff
DAAAAAAAYTOOOONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
IS THAT A DONT TREAD ON ME FLAG AT 29:26 ?!?!? WHAT
Welcome to my world!
