First Time in Colombo! Sri Lanka Travel Vlog

- It is our first time in Colombo, Sri Lanka and we are so excited to travel in this country with our new scooter, Bumblebee! In our first Sri Lanka travel vlog, we take on the capital city, Colombo. Our first impressions of Colombo were really positive. We found the locals to be incredibly friendly and the city easy to navigate on our bike. In our one day in Colombo we were able to visit Gangaramaya Temple, the Lotus Tower, Pettah Floating Market, One Galle Face Mall, and Galle Face Beach. These are some of the best things to do in Colombo, so if you are looking for places to visit in Colombo we highly recommend you check out these spots!
The city seemed quiet as we drove around to see what Sri Lanka's capital city is like. If you are a foreigner traveling in Sri Lanka, Colombo is a great place to start your travels! With the international airport in nearby Negombo, Colombo is a natural point to start your adventuring from. Although we only had one day in Colombo to explore the city, we did our best to make the most of it and do as much sightseeing as possible. For anyone else traveling to Colombo, we would suggest planning just one day in Colombo because there aren't a huge amount of tourist attractions here and you'll probably want to head South or East quite quickly to take in some of Sri Lanka's most famous sites like 9 Arch Bridge, Adam's Peak, and Coconut Tree Hill!

That's great to hear! Yes Sri Lanka's capital is quite a bustling city with big malls and lots of cool pubs and restaurants. However our heart is on the coast 😊 beautiful beaches and amazing laid back atmosphere with lots of great cafes and restaurants nearby. We're so excited for what's coming up in this series!

As a Sri Lankan person working in the tourism field I admire these individual travellers visiting our country. News media in Europe, USA, Canada, Japan etc. are giving a completely wrong picture about this very interesting & diverse country. I thank Nicole & Mico for visiting this island & making other people understand how normal the country has become compared to mid 2022. Such a small island has a lot to offer to holiday makers. You Nailed It! Thanks for objectively showing the city of Colombo. I have respect for all countries and cultures. I live in the West, surprisingly even in places like LA or San Francisco, if you go to the ghettos you will find enough of run down places and dirt filled roads. I see lot who has done Colombo videos just trying it hard to run down the place without giving its due objective opinion. You have done a great job just NOT repeating the same old places in the old Colombo areas to portrait the city as a whole. It's just unbelievable how some video bloggers, for example the SWISS FAMILY, making tremendous effort to show Colombo as a run down city. It's funny how the guy walk for hours going round and round just to find a place that's like the ghettos and show it and says it's just like INDIA. It is outrageous and degrading to say that and compare it to INDIA. Every country has it's own unique characteristics, colors, and flavors. Your video is free flowing and objective, and you guys doesn't get low as in those terrible videos. In Switzerland too you get enough of run down places and filthy streets. It's just it's not portrait in that way in general. However, just because Sri Lanka is in South Asia, it's just the sick mentality of some people without any respect to label Colombo as a filthy place. Kudos to you guys!!!

Totally agree with you. Not only the Swiss family, Two mad explorers also had some opinions on how things should be and change here and how crazy things are ( crazy was a word they used often when explaining things about Sri Lanka) in this country. I really hope tourists come to Sri Lanka for the experience. This island is different than theirs. Enjoy the beautiful beaches, mountains, the people, the food and beware of scammers ( yes we do have them like in any other famous tourist destination) .

Interesting to see a couple of Canadians in awe at the size of One Galle Face; when back in Canada there’s one of the biggest malls in the world, The West Edmonton Mall.
West Edmonton Mall is great too! I think it's only a couple floors though, not as tall as One Galle Face.
I visited gangarame temple with my bf last month and it was so nice :)
