PA46 Piper Malibu - Florida to Texas over the Gulf

  • As we begin to make our way home from Florida, we decide to stop in Georgetown, TX for fuel. The scenery over the Gulf of Mexico was beautiful reminded me of the 19th Psalm: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

    Great video. Your camera work and editing are top notch. Keep em coming.
    Thought I'd toss a tip out to your viewers if that's ok. When entering freqs on the 750 or 650 you don't have to press the first "1". (e.g. just punch 219 for 121.9) The Garmin knows what you're thinking.
    Oh and another tip - a set of windshields for a PA-46 will set you back about $36,000. Headsets stay off the glare shield. Speaking of headsets, your wife appears to move around in the plane and hate wearing a headset as much as mine. I got her a very light in the ear set she keeps loosely on her neck (so as not to mess up her hair). She loves me more for that one headset than the last 20 anniversary gifts combined.

      Paul, pass on as many tips as you please. They're excellent! You're spot on about my wife's disdain for the clamping Bose headsets and what they do to her hair. I got her the Quiet Technologies Halo headsets and she loves them! Which ones did you choose for your wife?

    Like the vids. Just a note. When a controller tells you approved to deviate direct when able, don't ask or tell them you are deviating or turning direct. They do this to control the frequency. If it becomes a problem they will let you know. Weather events are very busy for Controllers.

    Next time you stop at KGTU, go up to the north end of the airport where Pilot's Choice Aviation hangars the B-25 Devil Dog and check it out.

    8:00 You can’t just touch a freq on the G3X to have it go to the GTN? You gotta dial in the freq by punching in digits?

    • @MalibuFlyer
      @MalibuFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have a G3X. It's a G500TXi and no, I can't (but I wish I could).

    Why did you turn the Strobes and NAV-Lights off?

    • @thefireman2854
      @thefireman2854 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you are in IMC the lights and especially strobes reflect back into the cockpit, it is distracting.

    I’ve been enjoying these videos. Not a pilot. I can locate the heading and altitude of the aircraft on the display but can’t find the airspeed and speed over the ground. If anyone could point my eyes in the right direction it would make the vids all that much more enjoyable.

    • @homecomputer7563
      @homecomputer7563 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Left of attitude indicator is the airspeed strip and at the bottom of the strip is TAS (true airspeed) and GS (ground speed) both in knots.

    when you say under the anvil is their high pressure under the clouds

    • @MalibuFlyer
      @MalibuFlyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Anvil is referring to the shape of the storm cloud top when it has reached maturity. It can be very turbulent beneath the anvil portion.
