PA46 Piper Malibu - Phoenix to Alexandria with GTN 750 Visual Approach

  • This is the first of a four part round-trip flight from Phoenix to Florida. On this leg, I have a vacuum pump failure at FL250 and no brakes on the right side when I landed. Other than that, it's a smooth flight in great weather.

    Loved the vacuum pump joke as well as all your very informative videos . I am a seventy five year old retired commercial pilot who can never give up flying. Wish I had glass cockpit technology in my time; love it. May the Almighty keep you and your family safe. Cheers, Victor

As always, good clean work on the video, and the TXi. I am totally heading to the hangar this afternoon with the Operating Manual to find the VSI display change. Hi @@kellyhouseholder6737 . Yes, I do like the mount a lot. It's stable and I'm able to simply swing it to the rear if I need to get through. It's mounted to the headrest post. What I don't like is the GoPro's! Nothing but problems with them so far. I'm switching the rear, forward facing camera to a Sony.

Keep up the great work and I think I'll pick up that mount. The one thing bad about a GoPro with a 2 stop ND is they are dark and you have to do a bunch of work in Post to clean it up.

    I'm really worried about this pilot who makes so many flying mistakes (in his multiple trips), exposes his family to his lack of trip planning, questionable maintenance of the plane, poor IFR habits, and inability to properly handle the plane during landing. I would not fly with him.

    • @MalibuFlyer
      @MalibuFlyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Hi Michael. I appreciate your comments and while I don't understand what you mean by a few of them (lack of trip planning, questionable maintenance, and improper handling during landing), I do agree that several of my videos reveal a clear lack of instrument proficiency. Having a video record of these flights reveals detail that would have otherwise been missed or forgotten. Believe me, watching my own approach to KGLS terrified me! As a result, I have undertaken extensive training, actual and simulated, to address areas of deficiency. Having said all of that, let me share another perspective with you. It's easy to critique these videos and comment on what should have been done differently after the fact. I have learned MUCH from the constructive input of others in these comments. Keep something else in mind, many aviation videos are edited not only for entertainment purposes, but also to present only certain elements of the flight, i.e. the favorable ones. I have chosen to discard my ego and put it all out there in hopes that others can learn as I have from my mistakes.

    • @tlhoward706
      @tlhoward706 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Don’t be discouraged by this comment. I’m a retired military pilot and an active airline pilot. Pilots make mistakes. The ones that care enough to share embarrassment like you did in order to help others and learn from your mistakes ultimately make the best pilots. This guy probably flies Microsoft FS. Keep flying and keep learning.

    • @flyingphobiahelp
      @flyingphobiahelp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a commercial licensed pilot methinks you’re being hard on this guy. His landing was ace-perfect energy management per stall warning at touchdown. Also re flight planning he deliberately stopped short of the area affected by hurricane. My only question relates to cabin pressurisation with one pump inop-is that allowed per his MEL?

    • @jansan9797
      @jansan9797 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well said Kory, and i agree with Tony's comment! Thank you for being so humble in your reply. I guess this guy live in a world where angels are pilots and forget he lives on mother earth where humans (flesh and blood)
      are pilots. He is worried about your flying mistakes, but what worries me the most is a pilot who
      tries to do everything perfect, make no mistakes, and lives in denial when he does make a mistake
      or don't recognize it and correct it!!! So my question is, (not to you), but in general - how does a pilot
      who has 25000+ accident free flying hours, come in to land on a VFR appr. and forget (this only one time)
      to select the landing gear down and do a wheels-up landing??? And this guy is worried about your mistakes?
      To add on Tony's comment: " The only perfect pilots are those who fly Artificial Intelligence (AI) aircraft in
      Microsoft FS, because they are computer generated!
