    "Daughter's uncle from the other side of the family." He went through contortions to avoid saying brother-in-law.

    • @mouser485

      Brother-in-law would be your sister's husband, anyone on your son-in-law's side is of no relation.

    • @AustNRail
      @AustNRail 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Indeed curious, my daughters uncle? He is divorced? Hence ex wife’s new husband’s family? Good on him for finding an intelligent adult way of expressing the relationship. Good video.

      If he never married his daughter’s mother, then his daughter’s uncle was never his brother-in-law.

    One of the most popular topics of discussion: Not sure if I entirely agree with him saying there's not much gain from 2 engines. At the end of the day if you're traveling over water (somewhat) with your family you might want 2 engines rather 1 ( like the Cessna 340). I think it extends your glide if you lose an engine and helps in IMC. Hey I may not be right so feel free for anyone to chime in.

    • @Boeing737fly1
      @Boeing737fly1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only can it extend your glide, it can remove the “glide” from the equation.

    • @mwash5779
      @mwash5779 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point but, studies have shown that even with a twin, people still crash due to a lack of training... Overwater YES it would be better to have a twin, say more than 50 NM...just my opinion....Fly Safe...

    • @ripper8771
      @ripper8771 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess it at all depends on the type of missions you fly! My wife has family in the Carrebeans so if I bought a plane I’d want that extra engine. I would not risk my family’s life in a single piston, maybe a turboprop but even then I’d prefer two! There is no way around the extra cost. Yes the stats are terrible for twin engine pistons which mostly have one critical engine, but being proficient is the key!

    • @stealhty1
      @stealhty1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Twin engine gets your extra safety margin when flying over hazarous terrain like water or deserts,,other than that singles are just fine

    • @andrewlabrucherie5903
      @andrewlabrucherie5903 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah its great to have over water. For typical flying the expense can really get prohibitive. Start looking at overhaul costs, maintenance, and fuel requirements for twin engines and you realize the expense can really get up there for something that doesn't really fly any faster or carry any extra weight.

    My dream aircraft that I plan on purchasing sooner or later is either the Piper Meridian, PC-12 or TBM 850. It definitely has to be a turbine engine, I don't trust piston engines when flying over water. But if I had to buy an aircraft with a piston engine I would definitely be buying a dual engine aircraft because I plan on flying a lot over large bodies of water. But my number one choice would definitely be a PC-12, the SUV of the skies.

    Love the over the wing footage! Wondering if the 2-bladed prop is optimal or would a 3 be better? Regardless, great Pilot, great presentation and great over-all production...AS USUAL!

    Good thing it climbs well cause 41 gph is brutal! Guess that’s how they keep it cool, though. On the other hand 15 gph is darn good in cruise. My only problem with the PA46 is the lack of headroom. I’m 6’2” and every time I’ve ever flown one, I’ve had to sit with my head canted inboard. Can’t lower the seat cause it’s right over the wing spar. I’ve heard some owners have custom thin seat cushions made!

    The thing about multi engines is useful load, especially with the Aztec. I took a trip to the Bahamas, full fuel, 6 passengers and baggage, still would climb out at 900fpm. It is non pressurized burning 14gph each side leaned out at altitude though..................

  • @sanfranciscobay
    @sanfranciscobay 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Figure most large men weigh 200-250 pounds. The plane cannot haul to its seat capacity if you are carrying your average large man. I guess you could always haul bubble wrap, styrofoam pellets, down pillows, bulky lightweight items or youth.

    Just my $0.02 worth: I'd much rather spend bucks on my panel (maybe total new panel,) state-of-the-art avionics and auto-pilot than on a PT-6. I'd rather "go strong," than "go fast." And 14 gallons/hour sounds really good to me too.

      The turbine Malibu has almost no range with the seats full. For range you pretty much fly alone maybe one more.
      The turbine conversion would probably run $500K, maybe more. 35gph.
      14gph with pressurization: Hard to beat.
